I'm Petra, 27. I've been playing d&d for roughly two years. I enjoy character driven stories as I've always been a big fan of reading and fantasy. I've only played high fantasy games as of now and I'd very much like to broaden my horizons and try out new systems and genres. (Horror, modern day fantasy/supernatural, action-adventure) The media's that shaped me as a person growing up were Jurassic Park, Pirates and the Caribbean, The Mummy, Totally Spies and the like. I would adore games that have the heart and concepts of these kind of movies and series.

So, about me, been playing for 11-12 years, started out GMing and probably on the whole find that the more rewarding part of the hobby, but I enjoy playing as well. Played quite a range of systems by this point; did my mandatory few years of D&D and Pathfinder, actually started with Dark Heresy. But I've run Shadowrun briefly, Mutants and Masterminds, dipped my toes in World of Darkness. I think a benefit of my time behind the screen is that I'm relatively flexible in what I enjoy. I can go for deep and character driven games, but I also appreciate the fun of a good dungeoncrawl or epic combat. I'm absolutely a sucker for intrigue, but I'm not above playing characters dumb as a brick. I'm perhaps overly comfortable playing morally grey grand bastards, but when I think of my favourite recent characters, the Lawful Good Rogue probably ranks as the most compelling. I'll admit, though I'm by no means someone who can only enjoy hyper-simulationist games, I do occasionally tend to press up against overly artificial system restrictions. In Starfinder, my character did over time trend towards 'why don't we vent the airlock before we go in... soften them up.', and in general, I see a balanced encounter and will often think 'how can rig the deck a bit more in my favour'. Also not a big fan of 'Narrative' games, like Powered by the Apocalypse. For whatever reason, they are the one genre I've never quite meshed with. But yeah, I am generally open to try different systems, and flexible about my exact role in whatever party I join.

I cut my teeth on AD&D 2e, from back in middle school all the way through college. Played lots of SWRPG and various text-based MMORPG MUSHes, too. For almost 20 years, off and on. Then life got in the way, my group found itself spread a bit thin, and I haven't RPed since I dabbled in 3.5e over a decade ago. Then the last year or so, an old party member decided to GM a couple of games (one in 5.5e, one in LOTR 5e) and invited me to join. I'm way into both...but he's spread too thin and we barely play. I'm Nick, I'm a 32yo male/AMAB non-binary person, with a few years of experience playing D&D 3.5, D&D 5.0, and CoC 7th. I'm a little burnt out on those (mostly D&D/high fantasy) so I'd prefer to play a different system, but I'm not against those systems if the campaign is appealing enough. I'm open-minded, intelligent, and a quick learner so picking up new systems is pretty easy for me. The systems that appeal to me the most right now are Mutants & Masterminds, Cyberpunk, Mothership, Kult, Unknown Armies, any World/Chronicles of Darkness system, or any obscure or homebrew horror system (any setting with heavy horror). My ideal group would consist of people around my age but I'll play with anyone 18+. I'm friendly and get along with pretty much everyone, and have thick skin so I don't mind banter, darker themes, or adult content. LGBTQIA+ friendly (obviously lol), female friendly, POC friendly. I'm also not going to get too antsy if we get a little derailed from play sometimes, especially with goofier groups, but I love serious play just as much. Currently looking to play weekly on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday, during evenings/nights. Saturdays are undesirable at the moment but if I really love the campaign idea I can make the time for it. I can't play Tuesday afternoons and both Wednesday and Sunday are off limits at the moment. Long term campaigns are ideal. I'm a pretty dedicated player, I rarely miss sessions. Any VTT is fine (I love Foundry), theater of the mind is also fine. I'm not a big fan of Roll20 but I'll use it if I have to lol. I have and use Discord regularly. I also would pefer not to be on cam, but I do have a webcam. However I do not want to be recorded and posted on the public internet so skip me if you're running on a stream, youtube recording, podcast, etc. Recordings for private note-taking purposes are okay but do not post them online publicly. I love creating characters (especially flawed characters) so I usually have several character ideas for multiple systems either ready-to-play or brewing, even for systems I've ever played (such as M&M 3e, Unknown Armies, Kult, etc). I'm flexible enough to stick with RAW or go full homebrew, I will always work with the DM to ensure that my character is suitable for their campaign, especially if we dive into heavy homebrew. I generally prefer not to min/max but I'm not against it, I just find flawed characters (mechanical and flavor) to be far more interesting and fun to play. I don't meta game, backseat game, rules lawyer, and I don't have main character syndrome (if anything I'm a little shy of the limelight). I can also handle bad outcomes and character death, I believe that's just part of the storytelling aspect of TTRPGs. I love roleplay, combat, exploration, puzzle solving, pretty much every aspect of TTRPGs so I'm generally comfortable with any ratio. I also sometimes to photo-manipulation/digital collage art, drawn art (digital and traditional), etc for my character, other characters, campaigns, but I'm not very good at it (yet). Usually this is for comedic effect or out of necessity. I also do art and writing outside of TTRPG play. Not interested in play-by-post or paid games, sorry.

I've been a longtime vicarious enjoyer of TTRPG's, watching and listening to every actual play podcast and show I could get my hands on. I fell in love with the colaborative storytelling, comraderie, world building, and the way it invigorated my imagination and creativity. I am an avid reader, and lover of literature and poetry. Which I belive is why I am drawn to TTRPG's. I personally belive that storytelling is a foundational way we as humans interpret and explore the deeper truths of the human condition. My 2 favourtie TTRPG's currently are Pathfinder 2e and Shadowdark. I like Pathfinder's deep character creation and crunchy combat, and the lore of Golarion is nearly endless. I like Shadowdark for its unforgiving encounters and exploration focus, it pulls no punches, which makes survival a true achievement. Now I am taking the plunge into actually playing the games I have admired for so long, a both anxious and exciting endeavor. I have a fairly robust understanding of the rules, as I have been reading the Rulebooks for years at this point. I like to think I make compelling and deep characters, with coherent worldviews and motivations, and room to change and grow throughout a campaign. My drawback is that I am not very accustomed to rollplaying yet, acting is something I have never been comfortable doing... its hard to come out of your shell! What I am looking for is a group who would allow me the room to grow that roleplaying skill, who themselves are interested in roleplaying and telling grand stories together, just like the authors of the great literature I adore so dearly. I like roleplaying heavy games where choices carry weight and the setting matters: occult conspiracy, espionage, horror, gritty sci-fi, mythic adventure. Combat is fine when it’s brief, tense, and consequential rather than a grind. Character death in earned circumstances is fine. I'm open to romance in games if the table is bought in. I don't need a lot of rules but I care about the rules we agree on being consistent and well understood. I enjoy and run both traditional RPGs and GMless story games. Preferred Tone: Serious stakes with room for humor. Warm, character-driven humor or dark humor works for me; contempt-driven or goofy comedy doesn’t. I prefer a grounded game but pulp is fine as long as we're all on the same page. I’m happy to run a one-shot when the regular GM needs a break.

Newbie player of DnD, love to roleplay, ready to learn

Hi you can call me Calisto, I am a 21M and looking for a group that's somewhat around my age or older. I do not particularly care for any specific content focus or storyline I mostly just wanted to play the game because the concept seems really interesting. I am a brand new player meaning I know absolutely nothing about the game but I will figure out character building and such before the first session / learn how dice rolls and such work so that at least I have a basic idea. I have a budding curiosity for shadowrun and recently found out about 5e dark matter, but they’re just curiosities. I have never been able to get into westmarches so not those unfortunately. Additional information: I’d have zero issues sticking to a 1-2 post a day requirement. The only Pbp campaign I’ve ever run to “completion” (we all died lvl 7) was with my IRL friends when we got out of the military. People moved around priorities shifted and we never got back to it. I’m just longing for the journey of seeing a level 1 character grow and be apart of a world again. I’ve enjoyed most PBP games I’ve been apart of but they all inevitably die out and I have a graveyard of characters on dnd beyond that never made it anywhere unfortunately. I’ve played arcane trickster, clerics with canon/homebrew deities, and would love to have the opportunity to play a wild magic sorcerer. One of my dream homebrews is an arcane trickster with a wild magic table. I almost exclusively play short kings, halflings, gnomes, and dwarfs and my characters/RP definitely lean heavily into goofy/silliness but can read the room and be serious when needed. I’m not going to crack a joke or draw attention when another player is in the middle of a serious and emotional scene, or when the DM is trying to set the mood. Somethings I’m adverse to are SA and PVP. I’m always willing to alter or tailor my backstory for the sake of the story and always try to make backstories with a lot of very basic loose ends for the DM to tie up and incorporate if they want. I hope this is enough information. I really just want a long term game with a lvl 1 character to grow with. h'lo, all, I'm Steve, a longtime RPG player (since the 1970's(!!?!) ) . Many different RPGs played, enjoyed; it is undoubtedly my favorite hobby. I've probably played somewhere around 100 different systems, at this point; and GM'ed over a dozen. Currently my favorites that I focus on are RuneQuest (from Chaosium) and Ars Magica (from Atlas Games). While I enjoy "tactical play" at times, I prefer the majority of my gaming to focus on noncombat elements (roleplaying & puzzle-solving).
