World of Darkness

We wanted this system in the library before we had time to write it properly, so consider this entry a placeholder. If you've got hours logged with it, we'd love your help turning this into something worth reading - reach out.

Overview

World of Darkness is a shared-universe brand of gothic horror tabletop RPGs created by Mark Rein-Hagen and launched by White Wolf Publishing in 1991 with
Vampire: The Masquerade https://groupfinder.gg/library/vampire-the-masquerade-5e-2018
, whose rulebook coined the term "Gothic-Punk" to describe the whole project's look and feel. Over the following four years the line expanded into a family of games sharing the same Storyteller System and the same continuity - Werewolf: The Apocalypse (1992), Mage: The Ascension (1993), Wraith: The Oblivion (1994), and Changeling: The Dreaming (1995) - plus historical spin-offs exploring the same monsters in earlier centuries.  That original 13-year continuity closed out in 2004 with a scripted apocalyptic finale, the same year White Wolf launched a rebooted, standalone line on a new streamlined engine, later renamed Chronicles of Darkness in 2015 to keep it distinct from the original. Ownership of the brand has passed from White Wolf (1991-2006) to CCP Games (2006-2015) to Paradox Interactive (2015-present); today Onyx Path Publishing, staffed largely by former White Wolf developers, continues both the classic 20th Anniversary lines and Chronicles of Darkness, while Paradox's modern flagship 5th-edition titles - Vampire: The Masquerade, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Hunter: The Reckoning - are published mainly through Renegade Game Studios.

Old enough to have played AD&D 2nd Ed, but not set in my ways and I enjoy D&D 5E. Looking for long-term campaigns and interested to try new systems and genres of game.

Well met, stranger. I'm hiddenson. I've played different rpgs since the 90's, mostly as GM. I prefer GMing because I love world building and long-term campaigns. I revel in many layered plots that peel like a bag of onions, tuning preset worlds to my signature flavor of horror and hardcore mechanics. My style is deeply immersive, roleplay heavy, and Rule of Cool. I prefer acting in the first person with people who invest creativity in their characters. At the moment, I'd like to focus on horror games and Cyberpunk. I'd love to play other settings of the World of Darkness. I have extensive experience in Call of Cthulhu in the 1920's as well as in Cyberpunk 2020 so I'll adapt to new editions easily. Lastly, I have little to no experience in the other titles, but I'm eager to try them out. I lean into characters hungry for lore rather than riches. Think erudite professors risking their sanity in eldritch tomes, or tomb raiding archaeologists uncovering more than they bargained for. I recently launched a paid Vampire: The Masquerade Chronicle, so I'm willing to trade seats if our playstyles and game list match. Regarding scheduling, I'm available every day (but would prefer playing every other week) from 9pm to 2am GMT+2, so don't let the timezone be an obstacle to our meeting. Hit me up with your best message and let's tempt fate together!

I’m looking for a classic city chronicle on the US Camarilla side, as a regular group for V5 / V6, once a week starting at 6/7 PM (Wed–Sun). A bit about me: I’m in my mid-twenties, have plenty of roleplaying experience, and am familiar with V5 as well as the current V6. What’s important to me is a strong atmosphere and believable characters - I tend to portray my character’s actions and thoughts in a descriptive way. That’s why I’m looking for an GM who is interested in an immersive chronicle, with a focus on story, character development, and a living city. I’m also looking for a group that values reliability and wants to build a long-term story together. If you’re planning a chronicle like this and are still looking for a motivated player to join, my DMs are open^^

Draw Steel is a tactical heroic fantasy tabletop roleplaying game designed by Matt Colville and the team at MCDM Productions. It is built to provide a modern, cinematic alternative to traditional d20 fantasy games. It focuses on high action, tactical depth, and ensuring that every player character feels like a legendary hero from the very first level. The system it is a spiritual successor to is Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition Description In Draw Steel, players take on the roles of Heroes. Unlike other systems, the characters are heroes from the start. The characters are already capable of taking on the world and whatever threats may arise. The system encourages a highly tactical approach to combat encounters, promoting teamwork and clever use of abilities to control and affect any battlefield they might find themselves at. System Overview & Key Features The 2d10 Core Mechanic The game abandons the d20 focus and instead offers two ten-sided dice (2d10) instead. This creates a better mathematical average and becomes more predictable and reliable. No To Hit Rolls Draw Steel eliminates the traditional roll to hit. Instead, heroes automatically hit their targets with their primary abilities, but they roll to determine how much Power or impact the effect has. This keeps the game focused on making meaningful tactical choices rather than wasting turns on a miss. Heroic Resources Each class manages a unique resource, such as Focus or Valor, which builds up during a fight. These resources are spent to activate powerful Signature Moves and Heroic Abilities, ensuring that combat has a rising sense of drama and escalation as the heroes grow more powerful the longer a battle lasts. Tactical Movement and Forced Position Combat is designed for a grid. Many abilities do more than just deal damage; they allow players to slide, push, or pull enemies and allies across the battlefield. Positioning is vital, and the environment is intended to be a weapon that heroes can use to their advantage. Tiered Success Action resolution often uses three tiers of success. A low roll might provide a success with a cost, a middle roll is a standard success, and a high roll is a spectacular success that might trigger bonus effects or additional damage. This ensures that every roll contributes something to the ongoing narrative. Links mcdmproductions.com - Official MCDM Productions website mcdm.gg - MCDM community and developer portal
