Fate Core

Overview

Fate Core is a generic tabletop roleplaying game system for character-driven stories in any genre, written by Fred Hicks, Rob Donoghue and Leonard Balsera among others and published by Evil Hat Productions in 2013. It is the fourth edition of Fate, a system that Hicks and Donoghue first released through a Yahoo! group in early 2003 and that Evil Hat published that summer, as a derivative of Fudge. The third edition (2006) powered Spirit of the Century and The Dresden Files Roleplaying Game. Fate Core was funded on Kickstarter, where it raised $433,365 against a $3,000 goal, and it was released under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 licence (CC BY 3.0) and the Open Game License (OGL), so anyone can publish a Fate game without asking permission. The system has won multiple ENnie Awards and Indie RPG Awards. The system directly evolved from Fudge, and it has two published variants in Fate Accelerated Edition and Fate Condensed.

Description

Players take on competent protagonists defined by a few phrases about who they are, and the Game Master (GM) frames scenes in which those phrases get tested. Fate has no fixed setting, so the group first decides what kind of story it is telling, from pulp adventure to a modern urban fantasy, and builds characters to suit it. The game asks a table to talk about the fiction as much as roll for it. Players must be willing to let their own characters' flaws make trouble for them, in exchange for a resource they will spend later, and the system works best when everyone pitches in ideas. It tends to be less satisfying for groups who want a tactical simulation of weapons and gear.

Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
You gaze up into the mirror, and steel yourself as you open the letter. Within it, is your future - your whole self for the next 3 years. An acceptance or rejection into the College of Sylvarine. You gently pull the paper from the envelope... And smile at yourself. Welcome to Alterhearth! A Deltarune-inspired world of reflections, using the Fate TTRPG System. You and up to 4 other people will play as both monsters and humans, and explore a parallel world to Toby Fox's hit games. Expect a similar style of fantastical "Echo Worlds" [as opposed to "Dark Worlds"] divided up into themed Chapters, with a similar rich lore, fun characters and primarily narrative-based TTRPG experience as opposed to DnD 5e's combat heavy experience. However, expect also the unexpected. The same way, on release, that Deltarune shocked you as an Undertale fan - expect Alterhearth to have the same twists and turns, as well as a dark mystery at its heart... Unlike DR//, with "only one ending", or UT//, where it's "kill or be killed". Alterhearth? Only what you see can ever be real. Please DM me on Reddit or reply to this post to join! Currently undecided, but ideally we'd run from 19:00 - 23:00 GMT, + or - 2 hours. Of course, you'll need to be a big fan of Deltarune, over 18 and ideally have some previous experience with TTRPGs. Please no joke characters.

Game: Danganronpa [Fate core system] Day/Time: Wednesdays at 7.30PM CST Platforms: Roll20 for maps, and character sheets, Discord for voice. With the recent news on Danganronpa, I've been inspired to run a Danganronpa campaign again, yes again. This will be my 5th Danganronpa campaign, I've run 4 game previously to competition. I'm looking for 2-3 players. You don't need to have indepth knowledge of the games or series, just enough to understand how the killing game works. Having run Danganronpa campaigns before, the estimate runtime for the entire campaign will be 20-30 sessions depending on the party's progression. So please be committed to that estimate. Due to the mature themes and language, this will be an 18+ game. Message me on discord at : exhausteddm Name/Alias: A little about yourself: (timezone/hobbies etc) Your Ultimate: (ultimate idea that you'd like to play.)

Hello all. I am Tyler (he/him) (under 18 but over 15) (AEDT) and I have 4 years of experience as a player and 3 years as a GM. I would love to find new games to join as a player. I am someone that enjoys playing character driven and story based game. I'm not really a megadungeon kind of guy. But I do enjoy some combat. Let's say 50:50 RP: combat ratio with it being ok if the roleplay is higher up to 100:0 I am looking for an online weekly or fortnightly table that is sometime from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM AEDT Even though my most played game is DnD, I enjoy playing other systems like Alien the roleplaying Game, Pathfinder and others. I am always down to learn a new game. If you made it this far, I hope I have left a good impression. My favourite video game at the moment is Baldur's Gate 3, My favourite books are Brandon Sanderson Cosmere and Star Trek Q-Squared and finally my dream job is to be a video game programmer.

The storyteller Narrative minimalist
Let’s go on an adventure together! I'm looking for a free, cooperative, consent-based, story-focused TTRPG table. I enjoy character-driven games with party relationships, meaningful combat, exploration, mystery, downtime, and earned emotional moments. Ideal balance: about 40% roleplay, 20% combat, 40% exploration. I like sincere games with humor, but not constant bits, edgelord behavior, or main character syndrome. I fit best with players who share spotlight, cooperate, respect boundaries, and care about everyone’s character mattering. Consent and safety are important to me. Heavy themes, PvP, romance/flirting, sexual content, intense character conflict, or major effects on another PC should be discussed first. Lines and veils should be respected. I’m in Hawaiʻi Time / UTC-10. Weekends are best, and I prefer 2–3 hour sessions. I’m open to voice, PBP, or hybrid formats. Not a good fit for bigotry, disruptive rules-lawyering, non-cooperative play, unconsented PvP/romance/sexual content, trauma dumping, or using RPGs as therapy.

Hi, am Aries but you can call me Tommy. Am a bit of an unusual player of TTRPGs due to most of my experience being Solo with Mythic Game Master Emulator. But I have played in a traditional group for about a year before the game disbanded.  Admittedly I considered sticking to just Solo play but I decided to go and find a group again. Am an introvert with some social difficulties due to autism but I think am comfortable with playing in a group now that I had practice with the first group I was a part of. While I do have copies of both DND 5E (well the player handbooks at least) I also want to try other games like Savage Worlds and Fabula Ultima. I mainly want to be a player but maybe I could be a DM one day. Seems like a lot of pressure though.

I am a ttrpg player of 6 years. Mostly in dnd, but I have experience playing PF2E, Fabula Ultima and Thirsty Sword Lesbians. Additionally I have read up a bit on most if not all of the systems I'm interested in! I enjoy finding a specific vibe for my characters, like a fighting style, a specific backstory, an aesthetic etc. I then push a system to fulfil that vibe to it's fullest, committing entirely to that bit, even to the character's detriment at times. I am also an avid heroforge user and deeply enjoy making heroforge models of all the pcs! When actually playing I try my best to use my character not just to their own end, but also to try my best within my characters personality, to empower other players. My fatal flaw is definitely my attention span, I am distracted very easiily, something I have been working to mitigate for a while, but that I'm not sure I'll ever fully ditch. I am looking for a Wednesday game that starts no later than 12am GMT (yes I know thats technically thursday xD). I also have little preference for the system.

Scarlet Heroes

High-Fantasy
English
Rules-medium
Scarlet Heroes is an old-school tabletop role-playing game designed by Kevin Crawford and published by Sine Nomine Publishing in 2014. Built on the chassis of early fantasy role-playing games, it is explicitly engineered to support "duet" play (one Game Master and one player) or completely un-GMed solo play. The system functions both as a standalone game and as a mechanical conversion overlay, allowing a single player character to survive and conquer classic modules written for a full party of four to six adventurers without any structural modifications to the adventure itself. Description The default setting for Scarlet Heroes is the Red Tide, a dark, sword-and-sorcery fantasy world where the remnants of humanity have fled to an isolated archipelago known as the Sunset Isles to escape a world-devouring crimson mist. In this setting, players choose from traditional fantasy heritages and step into classic archetypes: the Fighter, Cleric, Thief, or Magic-User. However, the true focus of the ruleset is its revolutionary math-rebalancing engine. Traditional early-edition fantasy games are notoriously lethal for solo characters due to the "action economy" favoring groups of monsters. Scarlet Heroes alters how standard numbers are interpreted, transforming a single baseline character into a legendary epic hero who can cleave through hordes of lesser foes while preserving the danger of boss monsters. Vaesen - Nordic Horror Roleplaying is written by Nils Hintze, built on the folklore research and artwork of Swedish illustrator and author Johan Egerkrans, and published by Free League Publishing in 2020. It runs on an adapted version of Free League's house Year Zero Engine, the same lineage powering Tales from the Loop, Forbidden Lands, and the official ALIEN RPG, but reworked here around investigation and dread rather than survival or combat.  The game earned three ENNIE Awards in 2021 (Best Art and Cover, Best Interior Art, Best Monster/Adversary), and its Mythic Britain & Ireland expansion went on to win Gold for Best Interior Art, Best Setting, and Product of the Year in 2023.
