Vaesen - Nordic Horror Roleplaying

Welcome to the Mythic North.

We wanted this system in the library before we had time to write it properly, so consider this entry a placeholder. If you've got hours logged with it, we'd love your help turning this into something worth reading - reach out.

Overview

Vaesen - Nordic Horror Roleplaying is written by Nils Hintze, built on the folklore research and artwork of Swedish illustrator and author Johan Egerkrans, and published by Free League Publishing in 2020. It runs on an adapted version of Free League's house Year Zero Engine, the same lineage powering Tales from the Loop, Forbidden Lands, and the official
ALIEN RPG https://groupfinder.gg/library/alien-rpg
, but reworked here around investigation and dread rather than survival or combat.  The game earned three ENNIE Awards in 2021 (Best Art and Cover, Best Interior Art, Best Monster/Adversary), and its Mythic Britain & Ireland expansion went on to win Gold for Best Interior Art, Best Setting, and Product of the Year in 2023.

I have been playing roleplay games for 30+ years and enjoy a good combination of action and roleplay. I enjoy a game where the story is what matters most, and where players mostly speak IC. I do not like min-max character building. I respect the time everyone allocates to the hobby and commit to a game once deciding to play in it. Just as I ask all who play in my games. I am originally from Belgium but run and play in games for NZ as well.  In my professional life I am a teacher and respect culture and diversity. --- You can learn more by Visiting my Blog Grey League.(click)

What's Up, My name is Patch and I have nearly 40 years experience with ALOT of RPG systems and Warhammer 40K.  I personally prefer in-person gaming, but I will play however, whenever, and wherever I possibly can. I am looking to play SF2e, Dragonbane, PF2e, Mothership, Shadowrun, VtM, and just about any other system. Hit me up if you need a player, or a sub GM/DM if needed.

Marlon
Hello, fellow gamers. My name is Marlon, but everyone calls me Jay-long story there that I won’t get into. Anyways, I’m the forever DM in my family, and I run weekly podcast games for my wife. We’ve designed a tabletop RPG called Prosperon: A Bio‑Cyberpunk RPG, and we’re actively looking for more playtesters. If that interests you, shoot me a message and we’ll make it happen. With that being said, I’m also an active player in several games. I’m currently in a Blades in the Dark campaign every Thursday, which is absolutely amazing, and I have a few open biweekly days where I can commit to another game-as long as it’s the right game, the right crew, and the right day and time. That’s all for now. Take care, and don’t forget-have fun at your table.

Forever GM here looking to become a player. I would like to play a game that is roleplay and combat focused. I prefer mysteries and dark tones, so an Age of Umbra Daggerheart, Alien or Vaesen game works for me. Brindlewood Bay also hits my liking (it is not an option on the list). I have a lot of experience with Daggerheart if you need someone to also bounce ideas off of. Intermiediate experience with Vaesen and only played the Starter Set of Alien. I would love to try Brindlewood Bay (or any other mystery/detective system). Sunday, Tuesdays and Wendesdays are out of the question as they are my days that are always full, but I have flexible days other days. I am a travel photographer who has turned to a corporate portrait photographer. I love telling stories of people and places. I like taking that story telling to my table.

My name is Ryan if the username didn't give that away. I am looking for a group or at least player or two that would be willing to play tabletop games I am creating my own games and would like to learn about others first. I am knowledgeable in rules but not in the experience of playing. I am not used to roleplaying but I would like to meet learn more about it. I am open most days but certain days are better than others. Depends if I have a doctors appointment or I am doing a project. I am laid back and want my games to be that way without it being super competive, even for wargames.
