The One Ring Second Edition

Overview

The One Ring is a tabletop roleplaying game of journeys and fellowship in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth, designed by Francesco Nepitello and Marco Maggi. The first edition was published by Cubicle 7 in 2011 and set in Wilderland, the lands around Mirkwood and the Lonely Mountain. Cubicle 7 stopped publishing the game in 2019, and Free League Publishing took over the licence in 2020, announcing a second edition that moved the setting to Eriador. It was funded on Kickstarter, with backer shipments beginning in October 2021 and general retail release on 22 March 2022. The second edition won a 2022 Gold ENnie Award for interior art, and its French edition won the 2024 Graal d'or for Best New Edition. The second edition replaces the first edition published by Cubicle 7, and the two share a core approach to travel, hope and shadow.

Description

Players take on heroes of the Free Peoples of Middle-earth, such as Hobbits, Dwarves, Elves and Men of the North, who band together as a company. The Game Master is called the Loremaster (LM), and the second edition is set in Eriador roughly twenty years after Bilbo Baggins disappeared from the Shire. Sauron's shadow is growing again, but the world is still mostly quiet, and the game concentrates on the small, hard-won victories of ordinary heroes rather than saving the world. Play alternates between two rhythms. During the Adventuring phase, the company travels, explores, fights and talks its way through the Wild. In the Fellowship phase between adventures, heroes rest, recover, practise skills and pursue personal undertakings. The game asks a table to accept slow, attritional travel in which the road itself wears the company down, and to play characters whose hope can falter. It suits groups who want Tolkien's tone, not Tolkien's powerful wizards and heroes.

Hello all. I am Tyler (he/him) (under 18 but over 15) (AEDT) and I have 4 years of experience as a player and 3 years as a GM. I would love to find new games to join as a player. I am someone that enjoys playing character driven and story based game. I'm not really a megadungeon kind of guy. But I do enjoy some combat. Let's say 50:50 RP: combat ratio with it being ok if the roleplay is higher up to 100:0 I am looking for an online weekly or fortnightly table that is sometime from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM AEDT Even though my most played game is DnD, I enjoy playing other systems like Alien the roleplaying Game, Pathfinder and others. I am always down to learn a new game. If you made it this far, I hope I have left a good impression. My favourite video game at the moment is Baldur's Gate 3, My favourite books are Brandon Sanderson Cosmere and Star Trek Q-Squared and finally my dream job is to be a video game programmer.

Long-time 5e enjoyer (not the half-baked rerelease), formerly knowledgeable in 4e, Canadian, 30. Friendly, lax, witty. 10+ years in the hobby. Roleplaying-oriented player and big on world exploration, would prefer to find a table that matches those aspects, but at the same time I'm not opposed to a classic combat-heavy dungeon crawl if it's run well, particularly in PF2e or 4e D&D. I am a dedicated player who always strives to make my character fit into the DM's setting of choice, not just tack on whatever I want to bring. And I take notes. Detailed. Notes. Trialled PF2e briefly and really enjoyed it, hope to get the chance to play it again someday. I have a very basic grasp of 40k Wrath & Glory and am interested in trying that out some more as well. Also interested in (but completely green with) The One Ring 2e and AoS: Soulbound. Currently in the market for long-term weekly or bi-monthly (twice a month) games in the evening (EST) run on any day but Thursdays. Prefer Roll20 but willing to use Foundry, big maybe on any other VTT. NO D&D Beyond req. for players, thanks. Some of my all-time favourite universes include Warcraft, Warhammer (Fantasy and 40k), Dark/Demon's Souls/Bloodborne, Diablo, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Mass Effect, Kingdoms of Amalur, and Lords of the Fallen. I continue to hold out hope of one day playing in an Eberron campaign, someday, eventually... I really like Dwarves and Orcs but rarely play as them.

Hello, fellow gamers. My name is Marlon, but everyone calls me Jay-long story there that I won’t get into. Anyways, I’m the forever DM in my family, and I run weekly podcast games for my wife. We’ve designed a tabletop RPG called Prosperon: A Bio‑Cyberpunk RPG, and we’re actively looking for more playtesters. If that interests you, shoot me a message and we’ll make it happen. With that being said, I’m also an active player in several games. I’m currently in a Blades in the Dark campaign every Thursday, which is absolutely amazing, and I have a few open biweekly days where I can commit to another game-as long as it’s the right game, the right crew, and the right day and time. That’s all for now. Take care, and don’t forget-have fun at your table.

I enjoy trying new systems, I typically GM but would also like to join games as a player. I often host in-person one-shots where other GMs and I try out new systems, if you're in the area and interested to run or play something let me know! I'm not interested in online or paid games.

I’m an experienced GM, have run multiyear campaigns, and I regularly run games at local conventions. Preferred Systems: Mostly not D&D or similar traditional fantasy games.  Recent games include Agon, Unknown Armies, Call of Cthulhu, Delta Green, Mothership, Pendragon, Mythic Bastionland, Alien, Blade Runner, Symbaroum, Starforged, Over the Edge, Swords of the Serpentine, and Paranoia.  But I generally enjoy learning new systems Preferred Playstyle: Narrative and investigation are my first choice. I like roleplaying heavy games where choices carry weight and the setting matters: occult conspiracy, espionage, horror, gritty sci-fi, mythic adventure. Combat is fine when it’s brief, tense, and consequential rather than a grind. Character death in earned circumstances is fine.  I'm open to romance in games if the table is bought in.  I don't need a lot of rules but I care about the rules we agree on being consistent and well understood.  I enjoy and run both traditional RPGs and GMless story games. Preferred Tone: Serious stakes with room for humor. Warm, character-driven humor or dark humor works for me; contempt-driven or goofy comedy doesn’t.   I prefer a grounded game but pulp is fine as long as we're all on the same page. I’m happy to run a one-shot when the regular GM needs a break.

Dragonbane

High-Fantasy

Dragonbane is a classic fantasy tabletop roleplaying game published by Free League Publishing in 2023. It is a modern English translation and reimagining of Drakar och Demoner, Scandinavia's first and longest-running TTRPG, originally released in 1982. The game carries over four decades of Swedish gaming heritage into a sleek, accessible package designed around the philosophy of "mirth and mayhem": fast-paced adventures with minimal prep, where danger is real, luck matters, and even a humble merchant can become a legend. Unlike many modern fantasy RPGs, Dragonbane deliberately avoids the power-escalation treadmill of level-based systems. Characters are capable but mortal from session one, and the game works equally well for a single one-shot evening or a sprawling long-term campaign. It was a strong contender for TTRPG of the year on release, praised widely as one of the most accessible entry points into tabletop fantasy roleplaying. Description In Dragonbane, players take on the role of adventurers in the Misty Vale, a hidden mountain valley, ancient and full of ruins from fallen kingdoms, only recently cleared of orc and goblin occupation. The world is shaped by the eternal cosmic struggle between two great powers: the Dragons and the Demons, rival godlike forces whose conflict bleeds into mortal life. Players choose from six playable Kins: Humans, Dwarves, Elves, Halflings, the duck-like Mallards, and the feral Wolfkin and one of ten Professions (Fighter, Mage, Hunter, Thief, Artisan, Merchant, Mariner, Scholar, and others), each providing a distinct set of skills and heroic abilities. One player takes the role of the Game Master (GM), who builds the world, voices NPCs, and runs the dangers the adventurers face. The tone balances genuine peril and dark fantasy with moments of levity and absurdity.

Teens in Space

Rules-light
Teens in Space is a science-fiction tabletop roleplaying game about a crew of teenagers running their own starship, designed by Jonathan Gilmour and Doug Levandowski. It was originally published by Hunters Entertainment in partnership with Renegade Game Studios in 2019, with Renegade now publishing the line directly. It's a direct reskin of the pair's own Kids on Bikes system, swapping that game's small-town 1980s mystery setting for space exploration while keeping the underlying rules essentially intact. The system directly evolved from Kids on Bikes, the same designers' small-town mystery RPG, reworked here around a crewed starship rather than a bicycle-riding gang of friends. Description Players build teenage crew members from a Trope - Captain, Exiled Royalty, and similar archetypes that set a character's core stats and pose a defining question - paired with a chosen alien species from a long list of options, then take that crew out into a galaxy of malfunctioning ships, first contact, and profit-seeking missions gone sideways.  The Game Master (GM) runs a lightweight system explicitly built to get out of the way: there's no hit-point math to track and no meaningfully different treatment of one piece of gear over another, keeping the focus on the crew's choices and relationships rather than equipment lists or combat math. It's built for a fast, collaborative table - light enough for a first-time player, including kids as young as eight, to pick up and run with immediately.
