MÖRK BORG (2020)

Overview

Mörk Borg is a doom metal apocalyptic fantasy tabletop roleplaying game, published by Free League Publishing in 2020. It was created by Pelle Nilsson and Johan Nohr. The game is famous for its aggressive, award winning graphic design and incredibly bleak tone. Players navigate a dying world destined to end, playing as miserable scoundrels, heretics, and broken souls simply trying to survive their final days. The system it is heavily inspired by is
Old School Renaissance (2000s)
Description In Mörk Borg, you do not play heroes. You play tomb robbers and outcasts exploring a grim, rotting world under a black sun. The setting is actively counting down to the apocalypse as prophesied by the two headed basilisk. Gameplay is highly lethal, fast paced, and completely unfair. It prioritizes atmosphere, quick rulings, and embracing the inevitable doom of your character. System Overview & Key Features
Player Facing d20 Rolls The core mechanic is incredibly simple. Players roll a 20 sided die (d20) and add a stat modifier to beat a Target Number, which is usually 12. Players roll for all attacks and all defense. The Game Master never touches the dice during combat.
The Calendar of Nechrubel The world is literally ending. Each morning, the Game Master rolls a die to determine if a Misery occurs. When the seventh Misery is rolled, the world burns and the game is permanently over. The players cannot stop this.
Omens Characters have a small pool of Omens each day. These are points that can be spent to reroll a failed test, maximize damage dealt, reduce damage taken, or neutralize a critical hit. In a highly lethal game, Omens are the only thing keeping a character alive.
Unpredictable Magic Magic is cast by reading ancient Unclean or Sacred scrolls. Any class can attempt to read a scroll, but doing so requires a Presence test. Failing this test results in a terrifying Arcane Catastrophe, causing massive damage or permanent mutations.
Zero HP and Broken Bodies When a character reaches zero Hit Points, they are Broken. The player must roll on a brutal table to determine their fate. They might simply be knocked unconscious, lose a limb, or die instantly and gruesomely.

Hi I'm Jack, I'm a 23 year old guy living in South Jersey who just never seems to be around people who want to play the games I'm interested in. I've been playing D&D off and on since I was 8 either with my dad or my friends in highschool. Most of my experience is with 5e and I've been playing 5.5 pretty regularly since it came out but honestly I'm pretty tired of it, it just doesn't give me what I want out of a ttrpg. Currently I'm most interested in Pathfinder 2E after reading through the books but I'm also down to play 1E. I've never actually GM'd but if I can't find a group I would love to give it a shot with PF2E. When it comes to wargames I'm a complete newbie, other than what I'm currently doing which is painting minis and terrain hoping I can find some people to play with. I'm mostly interested in Frostgrave since I already have minis I can use for that but Infinity looks like something I'd really enjoy. And of course board games, I have a weekly group I go to but I'm always looking for more people to play with, especially Gloomhaven (check my posts) But I'll play just about any board game.

Hello, I'm a mid-40's gamer with lots of experience DMing and playing full campaigns and D&D one-shots. I've had a chance to try a number of other systems. Delta Green and 10 Candles are a couple of my favorites! Relocating to Beaverton, OR and looking for an awesome in-person or online group!

Hey, Im Lex, I'm relatively new to TTRPG's and interested to learn and play different systems.  I've played/am familiar with D&D (5.5e) & VtM (V20 or V5). (Currently playing in a D&D campaign, VtM I haven't played but have been reading into) But also intrigued to play stuff like: -Mörg Borg -Ten Candles  -Daggerheart -Candela Obscura I'd say I'm open to learning new stuff so if you've got some alterations or games that aren't on the list just message me :).

SAKE (Sorcerers, Adventurers, Kings, and Economics)

High-Fantasy

SAKE is a traditional tabletop roleplaying game with a touch of strategy game. It is a crunchy, modular, d20 point-buy game set in an early-modern fantasy world, with detailed systems for domain-building and overseas trading. Description In SAKE, you play the ruler of a domain, a merchant prince, a pirate lord or start as an adventurer with the goal of rising to power. You delve into dungeons, explore pockets of the Otherworld to find treasures, make pacts with fickle gods, study dangerous magic, scheme to assassinate rivals, trade to gather resources and raise an army to fight wars. SAKE is a full point buy system, which means all character development happens by buying skills and abilities using EXP gained from your character's personality traits and events during gameplay. SAKE is designed to take place in an early modern (fantasy) world, with muskets and plate armour, cannons and galleys, rising capitalism and waning feudalism. With magic and gods mixed in. The game's rules support more serious types of campaigns, like balancing between different political interest groups when playing domain ruler, or deciding how far one is ready to go when meddling with gods or magic for power that could save their party and/or domain. SAKE comes with its own world – the Asteanic World – but it is by no means exclusive to it. It can be used to play in other early modern fantasy worlds, or even in Earth's similar historical period.
