A New Age of Iron: New Draw Steel Campaign

Title: A New Age of Iron System: Draw Steel Platform: Codex (VTT) & Discord (Voice), monthly meetings in person in Chevy Chase, MD (Near Washington, DC) Availability: 1-2 seats available (already have 4 players) Time: Saturdays 2-6 PM EST. Tone: Serious, not quite grimdark. Somewhere between GoT and BG3 Hook: In the shadow of the Iron Covenant, you and a group of other heroes struggle against darkness and tyranny! Requirements: 18+ only, reliable attendance, a solid mic/camera, and a willingness to engage with the setting (Lore primers for different subjects available, further info available at request). If interested, send me a DM on Discord and we can hop in a call and chat for a bit! I am about to start running a narrative- / RP-focused Draw Steel game, and am looking for several players to join this new campaign. We meet on weekly Saturdays for 4 hours, 2PM-6PM. We're looking for excited players, newbies more than welcome. We meet online over discord, and use our cameras, and have an in-person session about once a month! Players should be in the DC/NOVA/Southern Maryland area and have the ability to travel once every month or two to Chevy Chase, MD. All levels of experience with Draw Steel (we're all new but are 5e vets)/roleplaying games are welcome. The game I run uses official Draw Steel rules and ancestries in a homebrew world, but I'm open to reviewing homebrew classes and races if that interests you. I'm running an RP-focused game, so if you're more for the Diablo "kill shit get loot" style, it may not be for you. I have worked with my players to make characters who fit into the world, and will do this with anyone who joins! My only pet peeves are people who are never available/flake and complainers. We do not tolerate hate of any kind at the table. We have a list of lines/veils and some cultural fit things in this google doc, but it isn't necessary to read it before reaching out. Culture Doc If you have any questions, or would like to join, please DM me here or on discord (username QuirkyEclipse)!

Glemmerrúm: A Kid-Friendly Beginner Campaign

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
Welcome to Glemmerrúm, a free in-person, kid-friendly beginner D&D campaign in NE DC on Sunday afternoons. We are looking for some beginner players to explore the Glemmerrúm, a collaborative, home-brew D&D 5.5e campaign, designed for kids (9+) and adults to play together. Characters will start at Level 3 and progress throughout the campaign. Anyone under 18 who wants to join will need an adult playing/present with them. The game is in-person and will take place every Sunday afternoon in NE DC, from September to December. Once we have six players confirmed, we’ll set up a Session Zero next week, before the first session Sunday, September 13th. While this is my first time DM-ing a full D&D campaign, I have run numerous D&D one-shots. Please complete this form to join us: https://forms.gle/dbE7TqkToFecrREd6 -- Cheers!

Masters of the Universe, Draw Steel!

Combat focused
Fights, tactics and initiative take up most of the table time.
LGBTQ+ friendly
The table is openly welcoming to LGBTQ+ players.
This campaign is meant to emulate and/or take place in the setting of Eternia, the central planet in the Masters of the Universe world. While only surface knowledge of MOTU (main characters, setting, etc) is needed, if you have deeper knowledge, then feel free to speak up. While not as light-hearted as the 1980s Filmation cartoon, this campaign will still have silly moments and be closer to an adventure of the week campaign with hints of a potential looming threat building in the background.     The campaign will be ran at a local game store close to where I live. If you wish for more information, contact me on discord. Username is LightningLancer.     While nothing sexual will be covered beyond potentially flirting with NPCs, violence and blood will be present in this campaign. I'll be providing a list in person to help players list what they feel comfortable and uncomfortable with for session zero. 4.I've had about 5-8 years on and off of being a GM, and this is a new system I'll be trying for this campaign. The system itself is called "Draw Steel" by MCDM productions. 5. Keeping notes is encouraged among the players. Also, two of my RL friends will be attending the session zero, and I'm only able to run for 4 players at maximum. That means at most there are 2 slots available for would-be players.

Western Rail Barons!

One spot available for a new player who is a good fit for our group. The campaign is a recently started Western-themed post-post-apocalyptic game with lots of exploration and troupe play with the PCs running an up and coming railroad company. World lore: for hundreds of years, no one could travel out farther than they could come back the same day. Cities hunkered down and extreme isolation caused social stagnation, stratification, and cultural drift. Twenty years ago, people started being able to travel again, and an enormous boom of exploration, settlement, and land grabs began between the main surviving factions. Steam train companies are a huge, cutthroat business, with a true Rail War beginning. Necromancer robber baron knights vie with steam punk mad scientists for control of the rails! Sources / inspirations: Deadlands, Huckleberry: Wyrd West RPG, Haunted West: Historical Weird West RPG, Inevitable: A Doomed Arthurian Western RPG, Into the Wyrd and Wild

Urdok
Hi im Urdok, I've played a lot of crpgs and have always wanted to play an in person table top game. I am currently looking for a weekly or bi weekly game for starfinder 1e on wensday and thrusdays at or after 6pm(Est). While I haven't played the game it's self im familiar with the 3.5/pathfinder system it uses. I generally play hybrid builds mostly of the heavy armored battle mage variety. I would like a campagin thats a balance of action and story, I don't mind though if for a secssion its more story focused than gameplay. Im okay with my character dying.., sure i'll be sad but it's not fun if theres no risk!

Middle-aged gamer, like a variety of ttrpgs. Quite experienced but enjoy introducing new folks to the hobby. Have been the GM many times, for now want to settle into being a player. Love an intriguing and exciting story with my roleplaying. Appreciate team work, not intraparty bickering/drama.

I'd like to sit around a table with a group that remembers 1e and 2e and the dangers characters faced. Character death was a real possibility. The DM's word was law. We shared an admiration for Tolkein, Moorcock, Vance, and Gygax. We could quote Aliens, Star Wars, Monty Python, and Highlander. Roleplaying was fun, but we didn't use it to work out our issues or use it as allegory for the real world. We used the game to escape into a fantasy. I've tried playing with younger fans of the hobby and the sessions seem to either try to emulate popular podcasts or it degenerates into a weird therapy session. I'm just an older dude looking to have fun with like-minded people, not be present for emotional meltdowns. I wish I didn't have to even specify that.

Tabletop gaming in Washington

Washington, D.C. and its surrounding suburbs in Maryland and Virginia have a busy tabletop scene, with game stores, cafés and community groups across the region. Weeknight campaigns are common, and so are weekend one-shots for people with demanding schedules.

D&D leads the way, but you’ll also find Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, historical wargames and a lively indie scene. The area is also home to Evil Hat Productions, the publisher behind Fate, so narrative-focused games have a natural audience here.

The region is well placed for East Coast conventions too, with PAX Unplugged in Philadelphia an easy trip up the coast.
