Getting a group back together who have not played for a while due mostly to university impacts. The games will be Cthulhu 7e and Classic Delta Green (maybe even Cthulhu dark Ages).  Looking for one or two more players to round things out. The GM is super experienced and creates a very suspenseful and immersive experience. The hard bit is the location - Newberg Oregon so a bit of a drive from PDX unless you are in Beaverton or Tigard. This could be Friday nights or Saturday nights depending on mutual sceduling, and with busy work lives twice a month max. Reach out for more info.  Important note (if this matters to you) we are a wide range of ages from 30s to 50s and we dont care about that - but you might!

Laws, society, magic, none of that exists yet, or if it does you've never heard of such a thing. You are simply a nomadic hunter or a gatherer, that has just always been the only way to live. Maybe you used to travel in a herd, but for one reason or another, you are no longer with such group. You each manage to stumble upon a group of people who seemed to be content staying in one place, with permanent shelters, a system of telling each other what to do, and some kind of new concept where you can make your own food, which they call "Fameng", where you don't have to hunt or gather for anything, the food just grows out of the ground over time. As you are slowly accepted into this non-nomads, it very quickly becomes clear that their society stems from a strange bright red flower called "fa'ler". Fa'ler can bring harm to those who touch it, but they have found a way to use it to build and maintain their entire way of life. However, they haven't quite figured out where it came from, and while they've kept it burning for many days and many nights, it has started to shrink and die down. Soon it will be gone, and these people will completely lose their fundamental existence and starve. Having spent much longer as traditional nomads, you are the only ones truly fit to embark on a long journey to find the knowledge to bring back the fa'ler. You know that many days ago, a person appeared who could make the fa'ler just appear out of thin air with just a thought; they taught the people of this place what it can do and made it for them, although they didn't their methods or process, but it involved something they called "najeek". Now you have to venture out to find some way to learn about other Fa'ler or najeek and save this unconventional, but innocent people.

LGBTQ+ friendly

Hey there! I'm looking to set up a Curse of Strahd campaign and I'm in need of a DM to run it! I already have a list of potential players from a reedit post I made, I'm just waiting on a DM before I reach back out to any of them Little bit about me: my name is Psychi (they/them). I'm a goth, queer, disabled TTRPG player who's been playing DnD for just over a decade, and DMing for about a year now. Despite this, I've never been able to play a COS campaign before. It's always been on my list, but I've never had a DM willing to commit to such a long campaign... 😓 Welp, I just moved to portland a bit ago and I'd love to see if anyone was interested in starting a game with me? I'm hoping for a fun, spooky, queer-friendly experience that doesn't shy away from the horror and upsetting nature of the setting I'm flexible on the location, as long as it's in the portland area and easy to get there via public transportation. I'm also flexible about whatever date/time we end up playing because I want to try and find something that fits with everybodies schedules. Pls feel free to reach out if you're interested in DMing for us 😊

Call of the Underbelly: A Guardian's Saga

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
It’s bright and sunny 2010 and New York has turned into a real shit hole. Crime has gotten really out of hand, and it’s affecting a lot of people. You might have the desire to do something about it; unfortunately, you’re not the best equipped to do so. There were a few people once with incredible abilities that transcended natural law that used their powers to help people, but they’re not here anymore, and you’re not exactly super yourself. However, you’re quite young (maybe not even a full adult), and as you’ve just found out, anyone can become super, with the right knowledge and training you can become a living weapon and unlock within yourself the abilities to fend off the forces of evil, through science and even magical techniques. You’ve just met two interesting and mysterious figures. One of whom is a former superhero (although he hates that word), who seems insistent that you shouldn’t be doing or wanting this; a kid like you shouldn’t be putting themselves in danger or trying to fix the world themselves. However, the other, an even more mysterious old man, seems very eager to train you to fight, claiming he needs “soldiers” for “the big war”, although he’s not too keen on elaborating when you ask him about that. It seems clear that one of these two figures can give you the keys to eventually fight back and stop the scum of New York from swallowing up the city that you call home. Even if it means putting yourself at risk, you have to try. Based on the old man’s implications, it seems like organized crime is going to look like a summer picnic compared to what’s on the way, and the secret puppet masters pulling the strings on all of it are spreading their grip by the second, unless somebody does something about it.

The crooked moon

Horror
The game leans into fear, tension and dark themes.
LGBTQ+ friendly
The table is openly welcoming to LGBTQ+ players.
Hello, I plan to do an in person game at my apartment. This is a module that my wife got and I am looking for a player or two to join us. We will be playing on tuesdays from 5pm-8pm pst.  It is based on horror folk-lore and I think the first couple pages give a good view of the setting: HERE ARE THE OLD FEARS. SURROUNDED BY LOOMING WALLS OF shrieking fog and forever trapped between dusk and the Witching Hour, Druskenvald is a realm made from the stuff of nightmares. Equal parts dreamland and afterlife, it beckons forth departed souls to be reborn into strange new folk that call this sinister place home. Lurking within the shadows of the night that never stops are ancient and terrible things that even the lord of the land forgot. Whether living or dead, heroic or humble, none are safe from the beasts that stalk the deepest woods and darkest hearts beneath the Crooked Moon. It is this ever-present crescent with the face of a grinning witch that makes Druskenvald a bit eerie, uncanny, and crooked. It is a vestige of the forgotten, primordial origins of the realm, casting a wickedly gleeful look upon the land as if weaving a plot that only it knows with an inevitably dire outcome. However, to nearly all who live throughout the domain's provinces, it has simply always loomed high overhead and provided much-needed light in an endless night so filled with terrors. Druskenvald (DRUSK-in-vabld) is a realm that exists outside the lands of the mortal and material. Enveloped in a seemingly endless expanse of eldritch gloom, it exists in a paradoxical state of limbo between the warring furies of life and death. Beyond the misty borders of this domain may lie countless worlds and afterlives, but Druskenvald stands apart-a self-contained demiplane where the living, dead, and everything in between can coexist. Within these confines is a landmass hewn into the shape of a crescent moon and a dark and roiling sea that stretches from its eastern coastline until it disappears into the haze. Looming mountain peaks to the north and south flank the lands between, forming an enormous continent-sized valley that nonsensically spans numerous environments in a relatively short distance and never experiences the turn of a season. The laws of nature and logic have no dominion over a place that is just as much nightmare and folktale as it is a land to explore. The mystifying nature of Druskenvald is made most apparent by the thirteen major provinces that comprise it. As if pulled from a child's storybook featuring a broad collection of varying tales, each of these territories has a wholly distinct biome, topography, and climate. From forest to moor, desert to tundra, swamp to farmland, they all exist side by side like a collection of bizarre patches stitched together upon a grandmother's quilt. Despite the uniqueness of each Druskenvaldian patch, travel between provinces is not especially difficult, and borders can be crossed with a simple step. Summary found online of the campaign: (The party will find themselves, recently deceased, standing on a platform ready to be ferried to Druskenwald by a ghost train. Not reaching their destination, the party instead ends up in Wickermoor Hollow, where they need to unpack the mystery of what is happening to them, and what it has to do with the residents of the town and the recently de-powered ruler of the lands.)

Dragonbane: The Sinking Tower

A magical tower rises from the sea every 20 years and sinks again after two hours —rumored to contain extraordinary treasures. Dragonbane is a classic fantasy tabletop role-playing game full of magic, mystery, and adventure. It is designed from the ground up to facilitate fast-and-furious play, with very little prep time and adventures that are a breeze to run. Dragonbane is a game with room for laughs at the table, while still offering brutal challenges for the adventurers. Shadowdark: Las Madrinas (Gongaii Games)

Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
Las Madrinas is a hexcrawl-style sandbox campaign for Shadowdark in which the characters scour a dark fantasy world being pulled in opposite directions by deific figures known as the Matriarchs. Through adventuring, dungeon-crawling, and good old-fashioned role-playing, players will have the opportunity to help guide the land's fate while discovering its history as their choices impact the very land they traverse. The realms of Las Madrinas are culturally diverse but feature only human characters to help the campaign focus on mankind's struggles. This means new human ancestries while elves, dwarves, and the like return to the shadowy otherworlds and fairy tales they emerged from. No previous knowledge of Shadowdark is needed to join; veterans and newcomers alike are welcome, and I will be taking feedback on the setting and rules as we go. My hope is to build a player-reactive setting with strong themes influenced by the Matriarchs, allowing for replayability and a sense of player agency. The games will be bi-weekly on Thursdays at Gongaii Games, and I hope to see you there! Sign up on the OrSoRe Meetup! https://www.meetup.com/oregon-sorcerous-realms-osr/events/315755599/

Looking to form a D&D group here in the Portland or even Gresham, OR area. I've been DM'ing for years and would love to find someone to DM for my wife and myself, as well as get a couple other players to the table. We can host or travel to the group depending on the distance! Prefer 3.5e, but could do 5e if need be.

Hi, my name is Kit. I'm a 25f and I've been playing ttrpgs for 4+ years off and on! I love learning and exploring new systems and ways to play. I recently discovered a newfound love for pathfinder 1e! I adore the customization and it feels more like building a character rather than filling a character out. And don't get me started on the feats ^~^  Outside of playing I really love creating art so you can find me drawing peoples characters, my own characters, or character concepts!

Hey there, I'm Psychi (they/them) I'm a player currently located in the Portland Metro area. I just moved and I'm looking for some games to join. I enjoy games that are a nice balance between combat and RP, where everyone at the table is enthusiastically working together to create an entertaining collaborative storytelling experience. Elements of comedy and horror are always a bonus for me. I'm a very creative person and I usually create either interesting or zany characters who fit in well with whatever world or system I'm playing in I also DM occasionally, though currently I'm focused on creating an elaborate homebrew world and don't have time to DM any longer campaigns atm

Tabletop gaming in Portland

Portland has a creative, inclusive tabletop scene with a strong indie streak. Game stores, cafés and pubs across the city host campaigns and game nights, and the rainy months keep the tables busy.

D&D and Pathfinder are easy to find, but Portland is especially good for trying indie RPGs, story games and smaller systems from independent designers. Many groups are welcoming to beginners - no prep or rules knowledge required.

Just across the river in Vancouver, Washington, GameStorm brings together board gamers and roleplayers each spring.
