My name's Derrill and I'm looking for a game. I'd prefer a campaign, something that'll be e.g. over discord with at least voice (video is entirely optional to me), once a week (ish), plenty of combat, plenty of skill use. I from 5:30 am to 1:30 pm Mountain time in the US, Friday through Tuesday, so something mid-week would be optimal, or maybe something mid to late afternoon on the weekend.
I'm not opposed to RP, just ... spending multiple sessions in one tavern, or trying to solve a mystery in Not-Hogwarts, isn't where I'm at. If you're running a campaign where we're a bunch of thieves and we're trying to avoid combat, that'd be fine. I'm not trying to be pure murder hobo, just trying to avoid some of the deeply silly and long RP sessions that I've not enjoyed in the past. Some tomfoolery is fine obviously, and relevant RP is welcome.
I'd really like to play some kind of sci-fi or steampunk (or solarpunk or similarly off-brand sci-fi adjacent kind of thing, Rogue Trader being an example), but I'm also going to be looking for some DnD or Pathfinder or Daggerheart or something. The only thing I know about Pathfinder is from the Owlcat video games and that PF is forked from DnD ... 3.5? All I know of Daggerheart is the ads I've seen, but I'll pick up my own books and read them on my own time if I join such a campaign.
I played red box DnD and Advanced DnD and a bit of 2nd edition. I had a cup of coffee with 3.5, missed 4th, and about 6 years ago started playing some 5e. I'm a big fan of playing the latest and greatest of whatever, so I'm ordering the 5.5E books here in a minute.
I'm an oldish cis while male, but I'm so far left of Bernie that I need the help of James Webb to see him. I ... think there's a good chance I wouldn't fit well with folks who are right wing, is the only reason I bring this up. I won't discuss politics during play sessions, and ideally it wouldn't come up, but, you know, fair warning and all that. I'd rather play with folks over like 30 or even older, mostly because I feel real out of place in conversation with folks a lot younger than me.
Paid sessions are fine. I've frankly considered trying to comission one of the professional GMs out there to gather a group and run a game for me, but I'm not really ready for that.
