D&D Beyond

Overview

D&D Beyond is the official digital toolset for
Dungeons & Dragons https://groupfinder.eu/library/dungeons-dragons-55e-2024
, originally launched in 2017 and acquired by Wizards of the Coast in 2022. It serves as the primary ecosystem for the 5th Edition ruleset and the updated 2024 "5.5e" core rules. In 2026, the platform is undergoing a massive "Game Platform" rebuild, moving away from its original hard-coded architecture to a data-driven engine. This allows the platform to support more complex customization and the new "Season" based content release model introduced this year. Description D&D Beyond is the definitive "companion app" for D&D. It combines a high-speed character builder, a digital library of all official sourcebooks, and a native 2D virtual tabletop called Maps. The platform is designed to be the easiest way to play the game, handling all calculations, spell slots, and inventory management automatically. With the 2026 "Season of Horror" and "Season of Magic" updates, it has become a living platform that delivers monthly content drops and themed community events directly to player character sheets. System Overview & Key Features
The 2026 Game Engine Rebuild Wizards of the Coast is currently rebuilding the backend of D&D Beyond from the ground up. This move allows the site to finally support highly requested features like custom classes, complex homebrew non-magical equipment, and more responsive rules validation that doesn't rely on legacy code from 2017.
The Maps VTT The integrated 2D virtual tabletop is now free for all users to host games as of late 2025. It features "Quickplay Maps" for all official adventures, allowing GMs to launch a session with pre-placed tokens and fog of war. New "Reveals" functionality lets GMs share high-resolution gallery art and monster lore directly to players' screens during play.
New "Quickbuilder" Flow To improve onboarding, the 2026 character builder features an "art-forward" Quickbuilder mode. It guides players through the most impactful decisions—like subclass and background—while using optimized defaults for smaller details, allowing a new hero to be ready for play in under five minutes.
Content Sharing (Master Tier) The Master Tier subscription remains the most popular for groups. It allows a single user to share their entire digital library—including the new 2026 Ravenloft: The Horror Within and Arcana Unleashed books—with up to 12 players across five different campaigns.
Legacy vs Core Toggles Following community feedback, the platform now features robust toggles to enable or disable "Legacy" (2014) content. This ensures that groups can choose to stick strictly to the 2024 rules or mix in older subclasses and spells without the interface becoming cluttered or confusing.
Digital/Physical Integration Most new 2026 book releases now feature a "Physical + Digital" bundle. When you buy a hardcover from the official store, you receive an instant unlock code for D&D Beyond, ensuring your character builder and digital library are updated before the physical book even arrives in the mail.

Our world used to be normal. That was before a small, fanatical cult of demon worshipers ripped open the fabrics of reality, violently dragging pieces of alien dimensions into ours. In doing so, they shattered everything we once knew. They unleashed horrific, unseen creatures into our eco-system, and even the familiar animals and insects of our world have been permanently mutated by the magical fallout. Survival here means constantly fighting the cult's influence, uncovering the mysteries of this fractured reality, and protecting the innocent people you meet along the way. Amidst the chaos, remnants of humanity have gathered in isolated villages, desperately clinging to the fading science and technology of the old world. Living alongside them are displaced extra-dimensional refugees who were dragged through the rifts. These travelers are teaching us their magic, fusing ancient science with alien mysticism so we can finally rebuild. Living monsters weren't the only things dragged through the rifts. Power-infused runes, lost old-world technologies, and alien treasures are waiting in the wilds. You just have to survive long enough to find them. Campaign Details

$15/ session: Sign up here Bi-weekly / Thursday - 6:30 PM CDT This is a beginner-friendly Dungeons & Dragons campaign set in the frontier town of Phandalin. The campaign blends open-ended adventures with a growing story, so you’ll always have direction—but your choices matter. Built for New Players No experience needed. This game is designed to teach you as you play: Step-by-step guidance during sessions Help with character creation Rules explained in plain language A supportive, low-pressure table Worried About Starting? I’ve Been There. “I’m not creative enough” You don’t need to be. Just decide what your character does. “I attack.” “I search the room.” That’s enough. The flavor comes naturally over time. “I don’t know the rules” You’re not expected to. We’ll handle that together. The only rule that matters at the table: keep the game moving and have fun. “I’ll feel awkward roleplaying” No voices required. You can simply describe what your character says or does. Roleplay is about decisions, not acting. “I don’t know how to build a good character” You don’t need an optimized build. Fun, interesting characters matter more than perfect ones—and I’ll help you every step of the way. What to Expect A mix of combat, exploration, and roleplay Clear guidance without slowing the game down A campaign that starts simple and grows in depth A story shaped by your decisions The Only Thing You Need to Bring: A willingness to try. This isn’t about winning—it’s about building a story together.

Greetings! I’m a story‑focused player who loves digging into character motivations, meaningful choices, and the kind of roleplay that makes sessions feel memorable. I’m looking for a consistent group, ideally in person in Houston, TX, meeting on Wednesday evenings or weekends. My schedule can vary, but once a time is set, I’m reliable and committed. I play with the party’s well‑being and the story’s momentum in mind. I’m not big on selfish character goals; I enjoy characters who grow through cooperation, tough decisions, and shared challenges. I’m here for narrative-first play involving emotional beats, character arcs, strange magic, mysteries, and the occasional “we’re in this together” moment. Combat is fun when it’s meaningful or cinematic, but I don’t need to punish goblins or reanimated corpses for a whole three-hour session. I’m less drawn to political intrigue, but I’m very happy in fantasy or sci‑fi settings with rich worlds, interesting stakes, and room for characters to breathe and evolve. If your campaign values atmosphere, collaboration, and characters who feel like real people, we’ll get along great.

I'm Izzy. 28. They/it.  I have over 10 years of experience in the tabletop space. On/off over the years with playing as finding groups that stay together takes time.  I have played in 2 completed 5e dnd campaigns that lasted over 2 years separately. Rime of the Frostmaiden & a homebrew Strahd campaign.  I will happily play in 5e & 5.5e games, though I have had an increased interest in p2fe/p2fre!  Tabletop games i have liked and played, would play again: 5e, pf2e, Vampire the Masquerade, Monster of the Week, Monsterhearts, Wanderhome, Call of Cthulhu  Tabletops I have not played but would be interested in: Blades in the Dark, Scum and Villainy, other Powered by the Apocalypse games or Forged in the Dark games, pf1e, Werewolf the Apocalypse, other World of Darkness games, Cyberpunk Red, etc etc My main goal as a player is to be a group player, to be someone that is wholly on the team with the other players! I love the collaborative nature of tabletop most, and why I always hold myself to be flexible and prioritize everyone's enjoyment and keep the table flowing! My characrer ideas are always many, but playing a characrer to the T is not a priority in the sense; that if it disrupts the flow and story of the table or conflicts wirh the group? Then I scrap that idea or develop the character different to mesh better!

Dungeons & Dragons 5.5e (2024)

Beginner-friendly
High-Fantasy
D&D 5.5E (officially the 2024 core rules revision) is the modernized, updated evolution of the immensely popular Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition (2014). The new and updated version of the system was released to coincide with the game’s 50th anniversary. Rather than replacing 5th Edition with a completely new "6th Edition," 5.5E refines and expands upon the existing 5E framework and most of the already existing mechanics. It is maintaining backwards compatibility with the  adventure and source books from 5th Edition. Description D&D 5.5E is the continuation of the iconic d20-based heroic fantasy roleplaying game. Players take on the roles of daring adventurers and the Dungeon Master (DM) describes the world, the events, controls the monsters and non-player characters, and referees the rules. The 5.5E revision was driven heavily by years of player feedback and data on how tables actually run the game. As a result, the new core rulebooks, the Player’s Handbook (September 2024), Dungeon Master’s Guide (November 2024), and Monster Manual (February 2025) are better organized, have clarified language and wording, and try to bring a stronger balance between spellcasting and martial classes. It plays exactly like the 5th Edition, but with tighter mechanics, fewer confusing edge-cases, and more tactical options for the players to have a more unique approach and feel to their characters. System Overview & Key Features Weapon Masteries This is a massive change to how martial classes are played in combat. Weapons now have specific "Mastery" properties, such as Cleave, Graze, or Push. This allows the characters to apply tactical, battlefield-controlling effects on their strikes rather than only rolling for standard damage on their turns. Subclass Standardization All character classes now choose their defining subclass at Level 3. This standardizes character progression and prevents the narrative weirdness of a Level 1 character instantly unlocking ultimate magical bloodlines before they've even adventured. Streamlined Conditions & Mechanics Historically clunky rules have been completely overhauled. For example: Surprise Instead of enemies randomly losing their first turn, surprised combatants simply roll their Initiative with Disadvantage. Exhaustion Replaced with a much simpler, cumulative 1-to-10 scale where each level of exhaustion simply subtracts from your d20 rolls and reduces your movement speed. Hiding Normalized so that successfully hiding essentially grants the "Invisible" condition, removing ambiguity for the DM. The Bastion System Introduced in the new Dungeon Master's Guide, this is an official customizable base-building system. It allows players to construct and manage their own strongholds. From arcane observatories to gambling dens. Apex Monsters & Upgraded Threats The 2025 Monster Manual expanded the roster to over 500 creatures, redesigning legacy stat blocks to be more dynamic in combat. It also introduced "Apex Monsters". These are a higher Challenge Rating versions of classic monsters (like an Apex Hag) designed to serve as more challenging bosses or enemies adding more danger and flavor to the basic version of the creature. Backwards Compatibility The core promise of 5.5E has been that you can still run older 5E adventure modules or campaign settings, even while adapting and using the newer ruleset and systems. If a table wants to bring a 2014 character class into a 5.5E game, the rules are there to accommodate, though it is highly encouraged to transition older characters to the updated 2024 mechanics, as the new systems bring  horizontal expansions to various classes and abilities.
