D&D Beyond

Virtual tabletop (VTT)
English
D&D Beyond is the official digital toolset for Dungeons & Dragons, originally launched in 2017 and acquired by Wizards of the Coast in 2022. It serves as the primary ecosystem for the 5th Edition ruleset and the updated 2024 "5.5e" core rules. In 2026, the platform is undergoing a massive "Game Platform" rebuild, moving away from its original hard-coded architecture to a data-driven engine. This allows the platform to support more complex customization and the new "Season" based content release model introduced this year. Description D&D Beyond is the definitive "companion app" for D&D. It combines a high-speed character builder, a digital library of all official sourcebooks, and a native 2D virtual tabletop called Maps. The platform is designed to be the easiest way to play the game, handling all calculations, spell slots, and inventory management automatically. With the 2026 "Season of Horror" and "Season of Magic" updates, it has become a living platform that delivers monthly content drops and themed community events directly to player character sheets. System Overview & Key Features The 2026 Game Engine Rebuild Wizards of the Coast is currently rebuilding the backend of D&D Beyond from the ground up. This move allows the site to finally support highly requested features like custom classes, complex homebrew non-magical equipment, and more responsive rules validation that doesn't rely on legacy code from 2017. The Maps VTT The integrated 2D virtual tabletop is now free for all users to host games as of late 2025. It features "Quickplay Maps" for all official adventures, allowing GMs to launch a session with pre-placed tokens and fog of war. New "Reveals" functionality lets GMs share high-resolution gallery art and monster lore directly to players' screens during play. New "Quickbuilder" Flow To improve onboarding, the 2026 character builder features an "art-forward" Quickbuilder mode. It guides players through the most impactful decisions—like subclass and background—while using optimized defaults for smaller details, allowing a new hero to be ready for play in under five minutes. Content Sharing (Master Tier) The Master Tier subscription remains the most popular for groups. It allows a single user to share their entire digital library—including the new 2026 Ravenloft: The Horror Within and Arcana Unleashed books—with up to 12 players across five different campaigns. Legacy vs Core Toggles Following community feedback, the platform now features robust toggles to enable or disable "Legacy" (2014) content. This ensures that groups can choose to stick strictly to the 2024 rules or mix in older subclasses and spells without the interface becoming cluttered or confusing. Digital/Physical Integration Most new 2026 book releases now feature a "Physical + Digital" bundle. When you buy a hardcover from the official store, you receive an instant unlock code for D&D Beyond, ensuring your character builder and digital library are updated before the physical book even arrives in the mail. LoreMonkey
Tools & Platforms

LoreMonkey

English
Dungeons & Dragons
LoreMonkey is a Windows app that records and transcribes D&D and other tabletop RPG sessions on your own PC. Connect the Discord desktop app and every line is labelled with the character who said it. No bot joins the call and no audio leaves your computer. For in-person games you can record the room with a microphone instead. After each game it writes a recap in your group's own style.  During play it offers short, well-timed prompts drawn from your campaign notes. It also keeps a compendium of your party, NPCs, places, factions and open threads. Ask LoreMonkey answers campaign questions between sessions and cites the sessions each answer came from. Recording and transcription are free and unlimited, it works for both players and GMs, and it supports any game system. Pricing The free tier is free forever. It includes unlimited recording, transcription and speaker labels for one campaign, plus a trial of the AI features (live prompts and recaps). Paid plans are monthly: Lite is $9.99 for one campaign, Standard is $19.99 for unlimited campaigns and adds Ask LoreMonkey, and Pro is $39.99 for several weekly tables. Notes Only one person at the table needs to install it. Speaker labels come from the Discord desktop app, so no bot joins the call. Audio and transcripts stay on the user's PC, and only the AI features send text out. It works with any game system and has separate Player and GM modes.

DmsTinyHut

English
Dungeons & Dragons
DmsTinyHut is a DM platform that want to help DM's get inspiration for their next session. Its not about taking over your prep its about helping you get inspired. The site has no AI or is not built with AI since I find that very important. Some links and explanations: Encounters (D&D) The encounter generator that generates encounters that make sense so that means I have matched all monsters to each other where it makes sense. Loot (D&D) A loot generator that follows the DMG guidelines and automagically updates the loot given based on the party. Magic shop (D&D) A shop generator that has all items from the new DND 5.5 in there. It has logical pricing and a 1 button way to generate a quick NPC shop keep. Encounters (Daggerheart) A Daggerheart encounter generator that has all the content from also the SRD 2.0 in there and I am currently working on adding the same level of matching there as well. Loot (Daggerheart) A loot generator for Daggerheart also has all the new SRD 2.0 content and follows what is dictated by the source books as balanced as well. All with options to save them with an account.

Inkroll

Inkroll

English
French
Inkroll is a web platform for playing tabletop RPGs play-by-post: asynchronously, in written posts, on each player's own schedule, with a human gamemaster running the table. It sits between heavyweight real-time VTTs and plain forum software; the writing stays the point, but the platform actually understands characters, dice, secrets, and the GM's role instead of leaving them on the side. It is also, deliberately, a beautiful place to spend a campaign. Inkroll was built by play-by-post players who wanted the game to read as well as it plays: a calm, candlelit page of ink and parchment where posts get the space of a book, quoted speech and images are cleanly styled, and every table can choose the look and post layout that suit its story. The tools stay out of the way until the moment a hand reaches for them, so a session feels like reading and writing a novel with friends, not operating software. Dice are typed straight into a post, like {Perception:1d20+2}, rolled once on the server the moment the post is published, then frozen, with a per-post audit the whole table can see, so a result can never be edited or quietly re-rolled. Players post as their characters, with portraits, versioned character sheets, and quick stat updates (hit points, spell slots, conditions) committed together with the post. GMs get sealed passages delivered to exactly the players they choose, chapters, scene notes with a world map and a per-chapter battle map, and live updates with typing indicators and read markers, so an asynchronous table still feels alive. Long campaigns are first-class citizens: the Chronicle keeps a running recap of every chapter and every character met, and answers questions from the campaign's own posts, so a returning player or a newcomer catches up in minutes. And because a campaign written like a book deserves to become one, a finished game can be exported as a designed, print-ready PDF or EPUB. Games already in progress can be imported from Myth-Weavers or Discord with posts, characters, images, and dice results intact. Ready-made sheets cover D&D Fifth Edition, Pathfinder 2e, Call of Cthulhu, Shadowrun, Cortex Prime, and Grimwild, plus a system-agnostic option and a builder for custom rulesets with their own dice mechanics. New systems are also gladly added upon request.

RollQuest

RollQuest

Virtual tabletop (VTT)
English
RollQuest is a virtual tabletop (a VTT: software that stands in for the physical table when a group plays a tabletop roleplaying game online, or in the same room with a screen) that runs entirely in the browser. There is nothing to download and nothing to host. The Game Master opens a game, players open a link, and everyone sees the same map, tokens, dice and fog of war at the same moment. It is built for Dungeons & Dragons first. Both current rule sets are included as rules packs: 5e (the 2014 rules) and 5.5e (the 2024 rules), on the SRD 5.2.1. The GM picks one when creating a game, and the character sheets, conditions and combat follow it. The board itself, meaning the maps, tokens, lighting, fog, dice and audio, works for any system; the rules packs add the sheet maths and combat automation on top. The core table is free and does not expire. On the Free plan a GM gets fog of war with walls, doors and token vision; dynamic lighting with torches that follow tokens; physics-based 3D dice that everyone watches land; character sheets that calculate modifiers, saves, skills, hit points and spell slots, with a guided builder and ready-made pregens; Battle Mode, which rolls initiative, tracks turns on the map and puts conditions on tokens; scene music and a sound library; and chat with whispers and roll history. Up to eight players plus the GM can join a game on every plan. Content packs are whole campaigns ready to run: maps, scenes, tokens, NPCs, journal entries and handouts. Any plan can load one from the marketplace and have a session the same evening. Character sheets and decks live on a player's account rather than in one campaign, so they travel between games. RollQuest is in beta, and ships new features most months. The team takes feature requests and bug reports on its Discord server.

Loreify
Tools & Platforms

Loreify

English
Dungeons & Dragons
Loreify is a session note-taker for Dungeons & Dragons groups. Someone at the table records the game, and Loreify writes up what happened, so nobody has to stop playing to take notes. There are three ways to get audio in. At an in-person table, record in a phone or laptop browser. Online, add the Loreify Discord bot and type /loreify-record in the voice channel, then /loreify-stop when the session ends. Groups can also upload a recording made on any other device. Notes are usually ready 5 to 10 minutes after the session. Each write-up has a recap, a timeline of events, the NPCs and locations that came up, quest and loot tracking, and memorable quotes. Loreify identifies who is speaking, so quotes and decisions stay attached to the right player. Over a campaign the notes add up to a searchable history and an interactive Lore Map linking characters, factions, places and items. The group can ask questions about its own campaign and get answers that cite the session notes. On Discord, notes are posted to the channel with a shareable link, and players without an account can read them. Transcription supports 14 languages. Loreify offers a 7-day free trial, then costs $15 a month or $120 a year; a Casual plan at $7 a month covers up to two sessions a month.

Spanish
GM Assistant automates session notes for tabletop RPG game masters.
