Thrackdown Name Generators is a collection of free, browser-based tools for creating names for tabletop games, RPG campaigns and narrative settings. The collection currently includes generators for warbands, gangs and factions, with options designed to produce multiple varied suggestions at once rather than requiring repeated single-name rolls. The generators are system-neutral and can be used for wargaming, TTRPG campaign preparation, worldbuilding, solo play, NPC-controlled forces, rival organisations, cults, mercenary groups and other fictional factions. Each generator is built from curated word lists, categories and procedural combinations, with an emphasis on producing names that feel intentional while retaining enough variation for repeated use. The tools are completely free to use and require no account or registration.

donjon is a legendary, minimalist suite of web-based procedural generators that has served as the "Swiss Army Knife" for Game Masters since its first dungeon generator went live in 1999. Created and maintained by a developer known as drow, the site eschews modern flashy graphics and subscriptions in favor of raw utility and speed. In late 2025 and 2026, the site saw a significant "5.5 Refactor," adding full support for the 2024 D&D Core Rules, including new treasure tables, encounter calculators, and Bastion event generators. Description donjon is the ultimate tool for the "Zero-Prep" GM. It is a collection of text and image-based algorithms that can generate everything from a single NPC to an entire star system in less than a second. While newer tools focus on 3D visuals, donjon remains a favorite because it is incredibly lightweight; it loads instantly on any device and provides high-density information without any clutter. It is the "source code" of many GMs' campaigns, providing the mechanical backbone for loot, encounters, and world-building data. System Overview & Key Features Random Dungeon Generator The crown jewel of the site. It creates fully mapped-out dungeons with "old-school" aesthetics. You can specify the level, layout, and "dungeon motif" (like Sunken Temple or Abyssal Rift), and it will populate the map with traps, secret doors, wandering monsters, and room descriptions automatically. D&D 5.5 / 2024 Core Support New for 2026, the site features a dedicated "5.5" section. This includes an updated Encounter Size Calculator that accounts for the 2024 power scaling, as well as a Magic Shop Generator that utilizes the new pricing and item rarity structures introduced in the latest D&D revision. Fractal World Generator This tool uses a recursive algorithm to generate entire world maps with realistic coastlines, islands, and tectonic-like features. GMs can adjust the "Ice Limit," "Water Percentage," and "Scale" to create a unique continent or a planet-wide archipelago in seconds. Sci-Fi and Weird Fiction Suites Beyond fantasy, donjon is the premier source for Star Wars (d6/d20) and Traveller star system generators. It also features a Weird Fiction section for Call of Cthulhu players, generating eldritch tomes, blasphemous rituals, and sanity-testing NPCs. The "Endless Oubliette" For GMs running "Megadungeons," this tool uses Dyson Logos-style geomorphs to generate an infinitely expanding dungeon. As players move through the map, the GM can keep generating new sections, ensuring the dungeon literally never ends. HTML and TSV Exports Almost every generator on the site allows you to export results as a raw text file or a portable HTML page. This is essential for GMs who want to copy-paste generated NPCs directly into Discord or import loot tables into Foundry VTT or Obsidian. The show is intended to be a mixture of Dungeon World, fantasy workplace comedy, corporate satire, sci-fi/fantasy and a televised death game.

In the world of tabletop gaming, there is one system that towers above all others. Whether you are a veteran of the hobby or just getting into it, you are aware of the elephant in the room. As the hobby evolves with new rulesets and indie titles, we dived deep into the numbers we are seeing on Groupfinder. You can see the live numbers here. The dominance of D&D It will come as no surprise to most of us, that Dungeons & Dragons remains as the dominant force in the hobby space. And while some of us (generally veterans who have played for a long period of time) feel like D&D has outlived itself and is losing to the newer titles. The numbers tell another story: Groups: ~60% of all the groups currently looking for players are for Dungeons and Dragons, either 5.5E, 5E or some previous edition. Players: If groups are over half, then the player side is even steeper. As 90% of all player posts on Groupfinder are looking for a D&D game. While many players are also open to playing other game systems, the vast majority still treats D&D as their go-to system. Looking to start your TTRPG hobby journey? It seems like you should find a dungeons and dragons group first. Beyond just D&D An encouraging trend we can see from our data, is the players' willingness to experiment and also try something else. While 90% of the players are looking to play D&D, they aren't only looking for a D&D group. When we exclude Dungeons & Dragons from the statistics, we can draw a clear "Top 5" of adjacent systems. TAS is a multi tool application for Mongoose Traveller 2E, that provides several options for players, GMs, and solo players. The Travellers app is designed to allow for guided or random character creation, rolling your own dice or letting the app roll them.  You can also track multiple characters across sub tabs, update their stats, add items and then save them, and share them with direct sharing links. They Shipyard app allows you to open and modify several classic Traveller ships, or design your own from scratch.  Save and export your ships as desired. The NPC Vault is a stripped down automated NPC creator that allows GMs to quickly create NPCs across different career archetypes, tech levels and experience levels, as well as mix archetypes.  Edit, save and export the NPCs as needed. /images/general-media/1786113792_7ncg53gt.webp   The Voidmapper tool shows you the 8x10 hex map. It lets you automatically generate a single world hex at random, a single sub sector or several sub sectors, or you can import the cannon sectors from travellermap.com.  Once you have imported your sectors, you can import ships from the Shipyard and add Characters from Travellers to that ship.  Each sector has the full trade and passenger information based on the system rules.  You can give your ship credits, track your in game trades, and passengers if your table wants to automate finding trade goods, and passengers and tracking what is on your ship and how much you spend and make.  You can also use this as a mini game to travel a system trading and trying to earn a profit.  Lastly each system has a savable notes section, random tables for encounters and details about the secondary worlds. /images/general-media/1786113857_yrNMc5pe.webp Lastly check the Ops Menu for the readme for each section for more detailed information and the up to date change log.
