Overview

Scum and Villainy is a space opera tabletop roleplaying game about a crew of outlaws getting by on a ship under the Galactic Hegemony, written by Stras Acimovic and John LeBoeuf-Little. It is a stand-alone game based on the Blades in the Dark system, using the Forged in the Dark engine, and its setting draws on Star Wars, Firefly and Cowboy Bebop. Evil Hat Productions published the hardcover edition on 2 August 2018, produced in partnership with Off Guard Games, the studio behind the original. The Evil Hat book runs to 368 pages in black and white. A 2018 Gnome Stew review recommended it for players who want narrative play with enough rules to support a story arc. The system is a

Description

Players take on a ship's crew in the Procyon Sector, a region of four star systems with factions grouped as Hegemony, Weirdness and Criminal. Their jobs involve dealing with syndicates, noble families, aliens and mystics, and exploring ruins. The Game Master (GM) runs the jobs and the crew's progress from a struggling outfit to a well-known one. The Way, an energy field, underpins the rules for artifacts. The game asks a table to improvise and to commit to a plan late. Jobs start in the middle of the action through an engagement roll, so a group does not spend a session planning. The ship has its own sheet and upgrades, and the crew's rise through the sector is part of the game. It suits groups who like heists, found-family crews and a space setting without a fixed plot.

Now three years later, resources are becoming scarce and those who remain are starting to get desperate. Not only have gangs been growing rapidly, but strange creatures and monsters have begun appearing all over the station. Residents form small communities to try to weather the increasingly post-apocalyptic landscape they find themselves in. In an abandoned neighborhood in the Arms, a small community of survivors huddle awake in a commandeered community center in the dead of the night. Tipped off that a local gang’s arrival is imminent, the center’s newest (level 0) members are tasked to defend their new home. Our crew of survivors must level-up and find a way to survive and thrive in their new post gap reality.

Dice roller
D-Roller is a free online dice roller built around a real rigid-body physics engine rather than a random number generator. Every throw is simulated — sequential impulses at a fixed 360Hz, full collision between dice, friction and restitution — and the result is read off the geometry of whichever face ends up pointing at the ceiling. Nothing is drawn in advance and nothing can produce a number without the dice actually being thrown. It carries the full polyhedral set — D4, D6, D8, D10, D12 and D20 — and up to twenty dice on the table at once in any mix, so an attack and its damage are one throw rather than two. It also reads a roll the way a table does. Two D20 are shown side by side and never added, because two twenties are advantage or disadvantage and no such total exists; a D20 thrown beside damage dice keeps the attack as the headline and the damage underneath; and a D10 that lands on 0 counts as ten, the way the printing on a real one means. Five die finishes, seven table surfaces, impact sound, and a stage the player can relight. No account, no download, no advertising in the roller. It runs in the browser, on a phone as well as a desktop. Links d-roller.com - Official website
