D&D games near me

Every edition of Dungeons & Dragons in one place, sorted by how far you would have to travel. The 5E filter covers both the 2014 rules and the 2024 revision (5.5E), because most tables treat them as the same game. If you want an older edition, the filters below will find the people still running them.

The Aelimiad is an AD&D 2e game about rescuing a prophesied child from a Dark Sorcerer King, set in a homebrew world. Your travels will take you across the continent of Thalas, a cold place full of fey creatures, almost entirely subjugated by The Ultimate, a wizard-king of the Dogmata, and at war to resist him. New players to this edition are not only welcome, but encouraged! We are welcoming to people from all walks of life. We will be playing this on Roll20, time and start date are subject to the players. DM me or leave a comment and can let you know more!

Quest unto the Horizon

Hail Citizens!  Please lend me an ear! My lord is currently looking for 3 light footed wanderers, wizened devouts, brilliant magi, battle tested heroes, errant knights or swashbucklers of stout heart, adventurous nature and non-evil alignment to join us in the realm in search of adventure, fame, and fortune. Our experienced storyteller of 4 decades will vividly bring the realm to life at a time to be determined once we check with the schedules of the people playing. 2e handbooks can be sourced for character creation. No half elves, elves, or villains need apply. Game is over discord; if you're interested, please send me a message so I can arrange for you to have an interview with the dungeon master. Slots to be filled for an ongoing game on Thursday at 5th level, and a new game that's yet to start at 1st level on Mondays.

Dark Sun: A little knowledge

I’m looking to attempt running a 2e Dark Sun game as you may have gathered from the title. I’ll be running the pre written adventure “A Little Knowledge where the party starts off in the depths of a slave hold traversing the Athasian desert! A disclaimer about me is that I’m pretty new to dm’ing. And frankly I don’t have much experience with 2e aside from a few online games. And Dark Sun is a setting that most people wouldn’t recommend for beginners. However, everyone’s gotta start somewhere and I have a soft spot for this setting in particular. I’m looking to run either a voice or play by post game, each having its own advantages and disadvantages. All are welcome, however I’m hoping for a party of a three to five players. It won’t be first come first serve but once I’ve found a group of like minded people I plan to start the game as soon as possible. Thanks for reading this wall of text and I look forward to playing! (Also this is free! I don't think I'm good enough to ask for money yet lol!)

Come follow these Old Strange Roads to adventure!

Howdy! The name’s Jay (22, He/Him) and I’m looking for players willing to delve into Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2e with me. This will be my first romp in the system but I have been GMing for about 4 years now. AD&D has been something I wanted to try for almost 2 years now. This is why I am starting another group to, hopefully, join me on this adventure! The game will be taking place on Thursdays at 7:30 PM CST. Likely ending around 10:40-ish cause people have lives. Maybe around 11 if the players want to. We will do a quick session 0 on the 20th before starting play. The game will be hosted on Owlbear Rodeo and Discord, so a decent Mic is required. This also means there will be no built-in character sheet but AD&D isn’t the most complex system. So players who don’t mind filling in documents or pdfs are preferred. WE WILL ONLY BE DOING VOICE. No video at all. The setting is simple, a fantasy world full of dangers and wonders. Along with most of the world filled to the brim with humans. Kin, Non-humans, are slowly shrinking compared to humanity. The adventure is all about dungeon-crawling and adventure. With the party starting in a small village called Crossroads that is nearby a dungeon. There are alterations to the standard AD&D 2e rules, those can be found in the form below! So if you want to join, feel free to fill it out too! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe-R3D7ET8_Zxy1uhK1OEsLCAExYcpBKt8fUy9kWeQhKK8dvA/viewform?usp=dialog

How to find a D&D game near you

D&D is the game most people mean when they say tabletop RPG - one player runs the world, everyone else plays a character in it. You do not need to own a book, and you do not need to know the rules before you sit down.

  1. Set the area. Press "Use my location" for an exact reading, or type your city. Everything on this page reorders by travel distance.
  2. Widen the circle before you give up. Most people find their table in the nearest city rather than their own street, so try 150 mi before deciding the area is empty.
  3. Read the listing, then message inside Groupfinder. Your contact details stay yours until you decide to share them.
  4. Post that you are looking. Half the matches on this site run the other way round, with the game master finding the player.

Questions people ask

How do I find a D&D group near me?

Let this page read your rough location, or type a city into the location box. It then lists every open D&D table sorted by distance, closest first. Widen the radius if your town is quiet - most people find a game in the nearest city rather than their own street.

Which D&D editions can I filter for?

5E (which includes the 2024 rules, sometimes called 5.5E), 4E, 3.5E, AD&D 2nd Edition and original AD&D. The page shows all of them together by default, so you can see the whole local scene before narrowing down.

What if there are no D&D games in my area?

Then post that you are looking. A player profile takes a couple of minutes and it puts you in front of every Dungeon Master searching your area. In the meantime, the online section further down this page is open to everyone.

Do I need to know the rules before joining?

No. Plenty of the groups listed here say outright that they welcome beginners, and most Dungeon Masters would rather teach you than hand you a 300 page book. The rules get learned by playing them.
