Description

Howdy! The name’s Jay (22, He/Him) and I’m looking for players willing to delve into Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2e with me. This will be my first romp in the system but I have been GMing for about 4 years now. AD&D has been something I wanted to try for almost 2 years now. This is why I am starting another group to, hopefully, join me on this adventure! The game will be taking place on Thursdays at 7:30 PM CST. Likely ending around 10:40-ish cause people have lives. Maybe around 11 if the players want to. We will do a quick session 0 on the 20th before starting play. The game will be hosted on Owlbear Rodeo and Discord, so a decent Mic is required. This also means there will be no built-in character sheet but AD&D isn’t the most complex system. So players who don’t mind filling in documents or pdfs are preferred. WE WILL ONLY BE DOING VOICE. No video at all. The setting is simple, a fantasy world full of dangers and wonders. Along with most of the world filled to the brim with humans. Kin, Non-humans, are slowly shrinking compared to humanity. The adventure is all about dungeon-crawling and adventure. With the party starting in a small village called Crossroads that is nearby a dungeon. There are alterations to the standard AD&D 2e rules, those can be found in the form below! So if you want to join, feel free to fill it out too! Log in to view

The Lord of the Rings - Bree and the Barrow Downs

Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
Horror
The game leans into fear, tension and dark themes.
The Lord of the Rings Bree and the Burrow Downs - Set in Middle-earth using the MERP Module - Bree and the Barrow downs - Following Advanced Dungeon & Dragons 2nd Edition rules. - Preferably in person at The Rouge and Raven in Carthage, TN - Open to virtual as a last resort - Once weekly for 1-1.5 hours for 16 weeks Bree-land is a small, settled area in central Eriador that lies just to the east of the Tyrn Gorthad, the ancient Barrow-downs. The region has been almost continuously inhabited since the First Age. In T.A. 1700 Bree is not much different than it would beat the time of the War of the Ring some 1300 years later — a prosperous, quiet but sometimes threatened farming community standing near the intersection of the Great East Road and the Greenway, the two major thoroughfares of the Kingdom of Arnor. Bree-land is quite small and contains four villages within its boundaries: Bree, on the western slope of Bree Hill; Staddle, on the other side of the hill; Combe, a few miles to the east, and Archel, which lies a few miles northeast of Bree. The Chetwood, a good- sized but tame forest is also considered part of Bree-land and lies just north of Archet. The whole region is a generally pleasant, peaceful, and law-abiding spot where Men and Hobbits dwell together in peace, facing danger but rarely — unless one ventures to the Barrow-downs in search of gold and jewels and magic items, or is unfortunate enough to run into the bandits that plague the highways outside of Bree-land proper. But the people of Bree-land generally ignore the haunted and foreboding Barrow-downs to the west. These grassy hills hold the graves of the Kings, Queens, Princes and aristocrats of Arnor. In the years after the Plague the mounds became haunted by evil spirits from Angmar and Rhudaur called Wights. The downs are rich in treasure and adventure, but it would be prudent for the adventurous to seek the council of the wise before trying their luck in the ancient and eerie tombs. If you're interested in playing, please reach out to me on Discord at The Rouge and Raven, I'm The Grey Wizard

Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
Whatever the opposite of a railroaded adventure is, this open-world campaign is that. The rules are simple. The world is complicated. What happens to it is up to the players. You will hear rumors, discover locations, meet competing factions, and encounter problems, but the game will not tell you which direction you must take. Some things the players have chosen to do so far: Join the local mercenaries to learn the ways of the sword as a mage - Retrieve an old lady's purse - Become war chieftain of an orc village - Decapitate a wight with a cursed sword Also some new races that are crafted to play and feel very different: - Pixie - fly, perfect hiding, cast phantasmal forces at will, insults cause physical damage to you - Orc - infra-vision, can recruit monsters more easily Races and classes are kind of blended together. Multiple characters are encouraged. Each choice allows you to do something that appears to let you break the game, while saddling you with something else that seems debilitating. This is by design, and players have come up with a few ways of getting around and abusing these things to the betterment of the story and lore. - Fighting-Man - Doesn't have to actually be a guy, but is a human. Can use all weapons and armor. - Magic-User - Has one spell, one "shot". Can meet with magic learned peers to exchange knowledge. The most notorious spell in the game right now is Charm Person because it doesn't wear off like in later editions. - Cleric - The best of the two above, but must be Good, and by the Law. - Elf - Essentially a Magic-Use/Fighting-Man with extra perks and ties with elves and the ability to sense magic, enhanced senses, etc. but capped at a certain point - Hobbit - Capped early, but can hide flawlessly in urban areas and snipe REAL good with slings. No magic. - Dwarf -  Capped early, but high resistance, good with all axes and hammers, can sense what stone touches and its shape, and ties with and extensive knowledge of dwarven culture and holds. There are major events going on in the background but instead of shoving players in the middle of them, I showcase the developments of those events that come about, for good or ill. The players decide what to investigate, whom to trust, which dangers are worth confronting, and what their characters want to accomplish. How many hirelings do you need to bring with you? How much can you do successfully alone to maximize profit? Play alone, 1-on-1 with DM and player, or up to 10 others at once. The world continues to develop around the party. Factions pursue their own plans, NPCs remember your actions, enemies adapt, settlements can change, and neglected situations may grow better or worse. Player choices can permanently reshape the campaign world. Let me know if you are interested!
