The Lord of the Rings - Bree and the Barrow Downs

Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
Horror
The game leans into fear, tension and dark themes.
The Lord of the Rings Bree and the Burrow Downs - Set in Middle-earth using the MERP Module - Bree and the Barrow downs - Following Advanced Dungeon & Dragons 2nd Edition rules. - Preferably in person at The Rouge and Raven in Carthage, TN - Open to virtual as a last resort - Once weekly for 1-1.5 hours for 16 weeks Bree-land is a small, settled area in central Eriador that lies just to the east of the Tyrn Gorthad, the ancient Barrow-downs. The region has been almost continuously inhabited since the First Age. In T.A. 1700 Bree is not much different than it would beat the time of the War of the Ring some 1300 years later — a prosperous, quiet but sometimes threatened farming community standing near the intersection of the Great East Road and the Greenway, the two major thoroughfares of the Kingdom of Arnor. Bree-land is quite small and contains four villages within its boundaries: Bree, on the western slope of Bree Hill; Staddle, on the other side of the hill; Combe, a few miles to the east, and Archel, which lies a few miles northeast of Bree. The Chetwood, a good- sized but tame forest is also considered part of Bree-land and lies just north of Archet. The whole region is a generally pleasant, peaceful, and law-abiding spot where Men and Hobbits dwell together in peace, facing danger but rarely — unless one ventures to the Barrow-downs in search of gold and jewels and magic items, or is unfortunate enough to run into the bandits that plague the highways outside of Bree-land proper. But the people of Bree-land generally ignore the haunted and foreboding Barrow-downs to the west. These grassy hills hold the graves of the Kings, Queens, Princes and aristocrats of Arnor. In the years after the Plague the mounds became haunted by evil spirits from Angmar and Rhudaur called Wights. The downs are rich in treasure and adventure, but it would be prudent for the adventurous to seek the council of the wise before trying their luck in the ancient and eerie tombs. If you're interested in playing, please reach out to me on Discord at The Rouge and Raven, I'm The Grey Wizard

Keep on the Borderlands

Combat focused
Fights, tactics and initiative take up most of the table time.
Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
The Realm of mankind is narrow and constricted. Always the forces of Chaos press upon its borders, seeking to enslave its populace, rape its riches, and steal its treasures. If it were not for a stout few, many in the Realm would indeed fall prey to the evil which surrounds them. Yet, there are always certain exceptional and brave members of humanity, as well as similar  individuals among its allies - dwarves, elves, and halflings - who rise above the common level and join battle to stave off the darkness which would otherwise overwhelm the land. Bold adventurers from the Realm set off for the Borderlands to seek their fortune. It is these adventurers who, provided they survive the challenge, carry the battle to the enemy. Such adventurers meet the forces of Chaos in a testing ground where only the fittest will return to relate the tale. Here, these individuals will become skilled in their profession, be it fighter or magic-user, cleric or thief. They will be tried in the fire of combat, those who return, hardened and more fit. True, some few who do survive the process will turn from Law and good and serve the masters of Chaos, but most will remain faithful and ready to fight chaos wherever it threatens to infect the Realm. You are indeed members of that exceptional class, adventurers who have journeyed to the KEEP ON THE BORDERLANDS in search of fame and fortune. Of course you are inexperienced, but you have your skills and a heart that cries out for adventure. You have it in you to become great, but you must gain experience and knowledge and greater skill. There is much to learn, and you are willing and eager to be about it! Each of you has come with everything which could possibly be given you to help. Now you must fend for yourselves; your fate is in your hands, for better or worse. --- System: D&D 3.5 SRD - https://www.d20srd.org/index.htm Platforms: -PCGen - http://pcgen.org/ -D20Pro - https://d20pro.com -Discord Date & Time: (-6 UTC/CST); Time: Sundays 6PM-10PM Open Slots: 2 (No Evil Characters – No Exceptions -*See Taint) Information: -Established Alternate Prime Existence -Modified Planar Mechanics & Templates -High Fantasy/High Power -Well-rounded (RP/HS/PS/Exploration) -Grimdark (All choices have consequences -good or bad) -Un-Common/Unusual Weather -Caster Spell Criticals -Custom Calendar - 4 Moons -Prestige Classes (accepted) -Psionics (accepted) The following are tracked during game-play: -Time -Encumbrance -Alignment -Aging -Faction Reputation -Taint -https://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/campaigns/taint.htm -Sanity -https://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/campaigns/sanity.htm Requirements: -PCGen for Character Generation & Maintenance (Java) -D20Pro VTT (Java) -Discord (Voice Only)
