Shamagi is a Kyoni elf of half-Jininese heritage on her mother's side. She was a rowdy youth that her parents found hard to control and keep disciplined, but was mostly allowed to behave this way out of respect for her agency while still being given guidance here and there. However, her streak of bad behaviour came to a head when she punched a Kyoni diplomat's son in the face at a wedding party. She was retaliating against his bullying, but unfortunately it was not enough to convince the diplomat who had her removed from the custody of her parents and placed in a monastery outside of Kyonin to teach her discipline. While the experience was traumatizing for her and she ultimately didn't change much, she did at least learn to control her emotions better and even got some handy martial arts training to aid her once she was freed and allowed to explore the world. After 30 years of aimless wandering and unfulfilling bouts in various underground fighting rings, Shamagi is seeking a true adventure that she will remember forever.
Potential Hooks for APs:
Fists of the Ruby Phoenix: Shamagi accomplishes great things (can be whatever, maybe she becomes the top champ of the biggest fighting promotion in Absalom or whatever to justify the level 11 start) and becomes a prize fighter of great renown who attracts the attention of Hao Jin, the Ruby Phoenix, and receives an invite to the tournament. Having received news that her parents relocated to Jinin, she sees this as not only an opportunity to prove herself as the best in the world, but also a chance to reunite with her parents as Goka is not too far from Jinin.
Spore War: Similar to above to justify the Level 11 start, but this time she hears rumours of the armies of Treerazer rising up, so she decides to return to her homeland to aid in the fight against Treerazer. In this case, her parents would have never left Kyonin, so she has her heartfelt reunion with them before the adventure starts.
Age of Ashes: The relatively inexperienced Shamagi has cut her teeth in dingy underground fighting rings but has not done much else. Seeking a greater adventure, she hears rumours of an abandoned aiudara network beneath the town of Breachill, which just so happens to be having its Call For Heroes the day she arrives in town. As an elf she is deeply curious about the aiudara network and the reason for why her kin would leave it abandoned, and she sees the Call For Heroes as an excuse to potentially investigate it.
Shamagi is brash, rude, and prone to aggression if you get on her bad side, but she has a heart of gold and begins to soften once you get to know her. She is selfless to a fault, always valuing the needs of the common folk and donating her excess adventuring income to those less fortunate. She is a devout worshipper of both Desna and Calistria, seeing both as representations of her fighting style.
