Game: D&D 5e with Homebrew Group type: Online - Foundry VTT & Discord Experience: Not recommended as first campaign Schedule: Session time voted by players each week from the following: Saturday 0000 UTC Saturday 0400 UTC Saturday 0800 UTC Sunday 0000 UTC Sunday 0400 UTC Sunday 0800 UTC Roles sought: 2-3 Players Game style: Combat focus with exploration Age: 20+ Starting Level: 5 The encroaching Mist has arrived from the west, bringing death and destruction. The Wardens were established to combat this threat. This is an ongoing campaign for an Open World/Sandbox/OSR/hexcrawl/West Marches sword and sorcery styled game. The focus is more on combat, exploration, resource management with emergent narrative rather than a linear story and roleplay. The World of Atlas is a low magic, set in a perilous and pulpy fantasy world in decline where the gods are disinterested, and there is no resurrection. Be prepared for character death. Homebrew monsters, custom species, and low magic restrictions on spells and subclasses. Please message me on Discord (@jimmy_raven) for more information or to simply chat and see if this campaign is right for you. More concise information available as a PDF Primer.

I run combat heavy games with combat that has the real possibility of character death. The only story worth telling is the one from the game. Emergent narrative best narrative.

The Legends of Arithea

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
Hello and welcome to the world of Arithea! Arithea is a world where gods walk among the people, magic is everywhere, and the stars are alive with knowledge of the past. The year is 3999 AR, just before the elder gods return to the mortal plane for the thousand year festival. It should be a time for celebration, but something dark is brewing. There’s whispers about a dangerous magic that turns people mad and tensions growing in the south of the realm. Not that those whispers concern you, of course. After all, you’ve found yourself in the kingdom of Eridia, a place known for its peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. Regardless of how or why you came here, you’re here now, and you have received a mysterious letter signed by the head of the Queen’s guard requesting your help. This is where our story begins. ——————————————————— I’m a 21 year old experienced player (but new dm) that has created an entirely home brew world to run this game in. My big inspirations are Percy Jackson, Studio Ghibli, Genshin Impact, and the podcast Malevolent, though that one doesn’t translate as well as the others since my world isn’t horror. I’m a big fan of whimsy and the rule of cool, so if you’ve got a wacky character idea, this might just be the place for you! I really want to go into depth about your backstory and make you care about not only your character, but the group as a whole. This will be a very rp focused game, with very little but meaningful combat. I plan for it to be mostly serious in terms of tone, but I am also not going to shy away from the occasional ridiculous side quest or silly bit. I will warn you now that I can’t really do voices and accents for the life of me, but I’m going to try my best. I don’t know exactly when this game will start because it will depend on how quickly I find players, but I’m hoping for late August or September. I plan for this to be a very long term game, so please only apply if you’re going to be in it for the long haul. We will be starting with every other week, but we may switch to every week once I get a hang of prepping for/running sessions. ——————————————————— Ground rules: 18+ only. Please be safe on the internet you guys. No AI in any form. No bigotry of any kind. We will be using d&d 5e 2014 rules. I’m also open to homebrew stuff, but you have to ask me first. New players are 100% welcome! You don’t need to have any experience at all with anything d&d, all I ask is that you show up and try your best. I’m totally willing to help you figure it out! I am a new DM. This is the first game I am running ever. There will inevitably be hiccups and mistakes but such is life. If you’re looking for a super polished game, this probably isn’t the one for you, but I have hope that we’ll still have fun, everyone starts somewhere and I’m excited to start here! If everything above sounds good to you, then please fill out the form I made and I will message you with more information if I think you’d be a good fit! Chronicles of Alver - Viking - one player needed

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
TL;DR [One Player Needed - All Welcomed] [homebrew - Viking inspired] [Thursdays 21:30 GMT +2 ] We have one slot available for a 4-player party. You can read below everything about the campaign, its settings, etc, and I can share a lot more lore with whoever gets to the Discord "face-to-face" interview :) Since the campaign launched on YouTube, you can also watch recent episodes to get a sense of the current party vibe and overall style. We keep things balanced, so there are episodes with a lot of fighting and episodes with mostly role-play. Mind - We are all experienced players/DMs but amateurs when it comes to "acting", so don't expect great acting, technical know-how, or CR level game ;) You can find it on YouTube under the name: The Chronicles of Alver - https://www.youtube.com/@ChroniclesofAlver I will add that I'm looking for people with the ability to take charge and initiate role play and conversations - I want you to feel like you're in the world and try your best to "live" in it :) Lastly, everyone is welcome to try - I don't care about your race, sexual orientation, or favorite blanket as a child. Be kind and friendly to the rest of the party, and you'll fit right in :) Click the link to apply: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScIeo4QAfbIuDVafQxzwxbnO4WD9GxjzJyPEBvs4x5R9SeiWg/viewform?usp=header ******************* Hey everyone! This post will be long as I want to give you a lot of information, so bear with me :) Index: About me About the campaign About the world Closing words About me: I'm an experienced DM (over 9 years). I would like to have five players for the campaign. You don't need to be a veteran, but I prefer some experience. The campaign is my homebrew world, which I created for a fantasy book I'm writing (and have been for several long years). I'm the head of a creative studio in an AAA-related gaming company. I'm a fantasy lover, a medieval history buff, and a martial artist, so if it has capes, I'm in! I'm a married father of three with a dog (so technically four as she's very much a daughter to me). I generally love dad jokes and word puns. I always mean my puns! About the campaign: We'll be using 5e with many homebrew elements. All the races and lore are homebrew, but for ease of use, they will all be based on edited versions of "normal" races (and all will be added to D&D Beyond). The party is currently at level 7. This will strike a balance between action and role-play. You will have a lot of weight on the story and direction. Everything goes - as long as it's realistic within the logic and magic of the world. Please let me know what you'd like to try, and we'll see how to make it happen. Death is final. Mostly. If your character dies, it'll be rare to bring them back. But you can always roll a new character. My goal is for you to enjoy the game and story. I don't want to kill your characters. I aim to provide you with a challenge, an engaging story, and a fun and immersive experience. Weekly sessions are held on Thursdays, most often (unless too many people are unable to join, in which case we'll try to find an alternative day for that week). Sessions start at 21:30 +3 GMT (18:30 UTC) and are usually two and a half hours long. We're doing video chat via the Riverside website (also for recording). I believe seeing our faces and expressions helps connect us, so I want people who are not camera-shy. No one cares how you look, what your race or color is, or whatever - be yourself (and your character), and that's great! D&D Beyond + Foundry for combat + Discord (for text chats). YouTube/Podcast - I record our sessions and post them on the campaign's YouTube channel, and may also stream them live later. I'm not delusional in thinking we'll be big or famous, but maybe some people will find our game fun to watch and benefit from it. So you need to be ok with it. Before we dive into lore and character creation, I'll ask you to sign a release form to allow me to upload videos featuring you from our sessions (all the other players have signed this form - it is to protect both you and me in the future). We speak English. I'm not a native speaker, and I don't do accents very well. But I do have excellent English. The sessions will be in English. You need to be able to speak it well. Accents are fine :) Please do not include IRL politics or agendas during sessions - These motifs are ok and might be present if they are relevant to what's going on in the session (i.e, Slavery or the Spanish Inquisition if we face a similar situation - you can use philosophical ideas obviously) - But try not to insert IRL events happening now or in recent years if possible. Age groups - around 30 or above, please Ensure you schedule a time for the session. This is important, as we've had people cancel frequently, leading to canceled sessions that significantly hinder story progression and immersion. Unforeseen shit can happen, of course, but please, if you apply, make sure you can commit to being available for the sessions each week. About the world: We'll be playing in a world called Alver on the continent of Kronland. This is a heavily Nordic-inspired world. Imagine what the late Middle Ages and Renaissance in Europe would have looked and felt like if the Vikings had become the dominant influence rather than Christianity. At the same time, there would still be distinct kingdoms with their own cultures, fashions, and styles. Norse mythology is deeply ingrained in the world.  The lore is inspired by Nordic mythology, but it is NOT Nordic mythology. It's a full-on pantheon and history I created. Some stuff will align and match, but much will not.  The continent is vast, and thus, the distance between cities, villages, and civilizations is such that the world varies greatly, from areas with rare magic and supernatural elements to cosmopolitan cities with mixed races, magic, and wonder. The game is designed to strike a balance between drama, grim humor, and epic adventure. It's not just grimdark or silly - it'll be a mix of all. You'll start small in scope, but the story is meant to go epic by the end.  There are five playable races (with some having sub-races), which I'll share the details of later, but these are the closest "D&D" races to them in racial traits: Menskr: Humans + Vel (homebrew variant human - with some innate self-magical potential) Kettir: Homebrew Tabaxi Hedlinari: Homebrew mix between Dwarfs/Gnomes/Halfings Graari: Homebrew Goliath (with horns! lol) Mal-Siva: Homebrew Aasimar (The only race that can use "real" magic classes like Wizards or Warlocks in my world) Closing words: That's it. If you read all the way here, my respect! I hope we can have a fun, friendly group to play with, grow together, and have emotional support when needed (lol). Feel free to ask me any questions you might have!
