Description

[Online] [5e 2014] [CST] DM Looking for 5 Premade Players — 3-Month Sunday Campaign Hey everyone! I'm a longtime online DM with a homebrew campaign that I'm really excited to run. The campaign is designed for 5 players and will run for approximately 3 months on Sunday mornings. The catch: I'm specifically looking for a premade group of 5 players who already know and have played with each other for more than a few sessions. I'm looking to give another DM a break for a few months by running their group through my campaign. Each player would play their own PC during the sessions. You'll need access to Foundry VTT and Discord. The Setting The campaign takes place in Sanctuary, a massive underground dystopian city built from the remnants of a dying world. The surface is nearly dead. An enormous creature from beyond this world has been slowly feeding on the life of the planet. The land is becoming a wasteland, earthquakes tear through what remains, and civilization has collapsed across much of the world. Only a handful of powerful cities remain. Sanctuary is one of them. Home to powerful wizards, ancient magic, wealthy merchants, and dangerous guilds, the city should be humanity's greatest hope for survival. Instead, its wizards are too busy fighting over power, politics, and their own interests to deal with the world dying around them. The Fae Queens are barely holding the last remnants of life together. The surface is dying. The city is cracking. And something is coming. Campaign Tone The campaign is heavily inspired by: Dragon Age Warhammer: Age of Sigmar The Witcher Dark Souls Forgotten Realms He Who Fights with Monsters Brandon Sanderson It's a mix of dark fantasy, exploration, large-scale battles, political conflict, strange magic, and player-driven choices. Your decisions can have lasting consequences on the city, its people, and the factions within it. Game Rules D&D 5e 2014 Mostly standard rules Most official 2014 content is allowed Tasha's Cauldron of Everything is generally allowed Very few house-rule adjustments Homebrew content is available for the setting, including some homebrew classes Character creation will be discussed with the group before play Game Requirements Foundry VTT installed on your PC Discord installed on your PC A good-quality microphone Ability to communicate clearly through Discord A reasonably quiet playing environment Reliable attendance Schedule Sundays: 8:15 AM – 11:15 AM CST There will be a 15-minute break in the middle of the session. The campaign is expected to run for approximately 3 months. What I'm Looking For I'm specifically looking for 5 players who already play together and have good chemistry as a group. You don't need to be professional roleplayers or hardcore D&D veterans. I'm mainly looking for a group that: Gets along well Works together Enjoys roleplay Is comfortable communicating over Discord Shows up consistently Wants to experience a campaign where their choices actually matter If your regular DM wants a break for a few months, this might be a good fit. If you're interested, send me a Reddit DM with a little information about your group: How long you've been playing together How many players are in the group Your general D&D experience Confirmation that Sunday 8:15–11:15 AM CST works for everyone A little about what your group enjoys most about D&D The Hook The world is dying. The surface has become a wasteland. Something from beyond this world has been feeding on the life of the planet, and the civilizations that once stood against it are mostly gone. What remains survives beneath the earth. Sanctuary is one of the last great cities of the mortal realm — a massive underground civilization built by people who fled the dying surface. It is a city of powerful wizards, ancient magic, wealthy merchants, dangerous guilds, and ordinary people simply trying to survive. But Sanctuary has a problem. The wizards who rule the city are too busy fighting over power, politics, research, and old grudges to agree on what should be done about the world outside. Meanwhile, the surface continues to die. You aren't a legendary hero. Not yet, anyway. You're an adventurer who needs gold. Fortunately, there's always work for people willing to risk their lives. The Retrievers Guild specializes in recovering magical artifacts, lost knowledge, and valuable resources from places no sane person would willingly visit. You've spent weeks looking for work. Today, you finally get a contract. A surface expedition. Good pay. Valuable discoveries. A chance to make a name for yourselves. Your group arrives at the Retrievers Guild warehouse. Hundreds of adventurers are preparing for the expedition. Wagons are being loaded. Weapons are being checked. Spells are being prepared. Your contract seems simple: Protect the expedition. Protect each other. Bring back what you find. But the surface has secrets. The Drow are moving. The Fae are dying. Something is hunting the survivors of the old world. And the deeper you get into the ruins of what came before, the more obvious it becomes that this expedition isn't just about treasure. The world is dying. Sanctuary is running out of time. And eventually, you'll have to decide what you're willing to do about it. Will you protect Sanctuary? Change it? Or burn it down and build something better? That choice belongs to you.

Runial (Homebrew)

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
The campaign takes place on a homebrew world called Runial. The civilizations that inhabit it are: Civils, the alliance of demi humans such as humans, elves, dwarves, gnomes, halflings, orcs, goblins, and any other manner of humanoid beings. Ferals, which are more animal than humanoid, anthropomorphic creatures made up of any animal species you can imagine. Pseudofauna, which are a mix of demi human and some animal trait. Examples of this include holstaur, winged humans, merpeople and so on. They're distrusted by both Civil and Feral societies though are free to dwell within either albeit with some difficulties. Outworlders, mysterious beings with special powers that are resistant to Runian natives. They can be any Runian race, although none of them arrive with memories of how they came to be. Civilization for the most part on Runial can be compared to the 1800s. The most advanced parts of the world have access to basic amenities such as rudimentary plumbing and electricity. Weaponry has advanced up to single action revolvers and lever action rifles. Runial in recent times has been plagued by a mysterious weather phenomenon known as the Aetherwind, a warm gentle breeze that rises from the ground, bringing with it motes of multicolored orbs of mana that float gently towards the sky. Any living thing caught in the Aetherwind is quickly and horribly mutated, rarely surviving the process. Alongside the appearance of the Aetherwind came the arrival of beings known as Outworlders, people with special abilities that boast high resistance to attacks from Runian natives, making them difficult to combat without extreme measures. The Aetherwind began at the most northern point of Runial and over time has crept slowly to the south, pushing the Civil races down towards Feral territories. Ferals, in an attempt to retain their lands, have declared a defensive war on Civils to prevent their encroachment and Civils, desperate to escape the Aetherwind, grab what land they can to survive. The Aetherwind can also appear in random pockets anywhere on Runial, making nowhere truly safe. You are an adventurer that has woken up in an alien looking laboratory with no memories of who you once were or what has been done to you. After a narrow escape, you're now looking for answers alongside others that have also escaped the facility. Note: The game has themes of violence and is somewhat dark in nature without becoming too edgy. I do not focus on overtly sexual themes. We are partially on the second act of the campaign and are looking for 2 additional players for a long term commitment. I prefer newer players and don't mind teaching them, but veterans are ok too. My campaign has some homebrew and mixed elements. I DO use generative AI in creation of character images and some tokens in Foundry. I do NOT use AI in any part of my worldbuilding, character creation, or story progression. The session will take place over Discord mostly through text and voice, but for some sequences such as combat Foundry will be used. If this info dump was enough to entice you, feel free to message me!

grounded: the helix organizations mistakes

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
The Helix Initiative was introduced to the public as a revolutionary leap in environmental adaptation, biological medicine, and survival science. Officially, the organization claimed it was developing new ways for humanity to survive ecological collapse, disease, and resource shortages. Behind closed doors, however, Helix operated hidden research divisions dedicated to experimentation far beyond legal or ethical limits. Somewhere deep within those divisions, a scientist identified in surviving records only as Dr. W██d████ T████ developed a machine capable of shrinking living organisms to less than an inch tall. The technology was presented internally as a breakthrough in resource efficiency and medical research—but many of the subjects brought into testing were children between the ages of eight and sixteen. Most never returned. You are one of the survivors. After undergoing the procedure, you awaken inside an ordinary city park that has become an impossible wilderness at your scale. Blades of grass tower like trees. Puddles become lakes capable of drowning entire groups. Ants patrol the dirt like armored soldiers, while spiders transform sections of the park into web-choked death zones. Every inch of terrain matters. Every storm is catastrophic. Survival depends on learning how to weaponize the environment itself—crafting tools and defenses from thorns, sap, insect shells, broken plastic, roots, and scavenged debris left behind by previous miniature civilizations that clearly did not survive for long. As you explore deeper into the park, you begin discovering abandoned outposts, collapsed shelters, and fragmented Helix logs detailing increasingly unstable experiments. The records reference attempts to create “evolutions chosen suvivors” capable of evolving beyond normal biological limits. Again and again, one phrase appears alongside heavily censored personnel files: MARROW SYNDROME. The disease slowly destroys the body in stages—first decaying bone tissue, then muscle structure, and finally flooding the lungs with blood. Somewhere among the corrupted files are hints that Dr. W██d████ T████ never joined Helix out of loyalty. Some logs imply he infiltrated the organization to expose its corruption, free the surviving test subjects, and continue researching a cure for a terminally ill child connected to the syndrome. Whether those rumors are true remains uncertain. Helix officially denies the existence of both the disease and the scientist. Not every strange thing in the park comes from Helix laboratories. Survivors occasionally encounter a bizarre figure known only as Rock—a hyper-muscular talking bee obsessed with shouting “MUSCLE” at every possible opportunity. Most groups dismiss him as insane until they realize he understands far more about the park than he should. One moment he acts like a reckless coach forcing terrified children to become stronger, and the next he casually references erased facilities, failed experiments, or “previous attempts” that nobody else remembers. Near the edges of abandoned Helix sectors, Rock sometimes becomes unusually quiet, staring into empty space before muttering warnings that sound less like jokes and more like genuine fear. HE IS WATCHING YOUR EVERY MOVE...
