Description

Casual D&D 5.5e, English Practice, and good company We're a small group of friends who decided to use D&D as a fun and engaging way to practice English as a second language. We're all Brazilian, but we're absolutely open to people from other countries and speakers of other first languages! Currently, we have 3 players (2 girls, 1 guy) and 1 male DM. We've decided it's time to open our little group to new people! (ssshhh, come closer... just between you and me? It's mostly because scheduling is a bitch, and it'd be nice not to have to cancel a session because only one player showed up or someone forgot we had a session scheduled.) Our game vibe is casual and friendly. We joke around a lot and don't take ourselves too seriously. Our DM is still relatively new to the role and figuring out his style, so we're learning and growing together! The DM's English proficiency is around C1, while the players have varying levels, from A2 to C1. Our group is currently between 25 and 35 years old, but we're happy to welcome people outside that age range too. We usually play every Sunday at 8 PM BRT, although we're flexible and can negotiate the schedule. We organize our voice calls on Telegram, where we originally met, and use Owlbear Rodeo for our virtual tabletop and D&D Beyond for character sheets. We welcome players of all D&D experience levels and English proficiency levels! Native English speakers are more than welcome too! So, if you're new to D&D and would like to learn the game, we can teach you, as long as you don't mind helping the rest of us with our English. Nothing too serious though! We're not asking you to be an unpaid English teacher. Just playing with us and correcting our mistakes every now and then is more than enough! About the campaign  We've just barely finished the very first dungeon of LMoP, but we paused it to run a separate thing... a little homebrew quest involving a Cult of Cleric Chickens who worship a sort of Chicken Cthulhu. Hey! Don't just sit there staring at the screen! Hit me up and join us! Send me a message here, tell me about yourself, what you are like, etc. (I find it mildly disturbing how ttrpgs are a fun communication game, yet a lot people act like robots when trying to reach out to one another. But don’t worry, I’m here for you if you have a pulse…  and a sense of humor, that’d be a promising start.)

Game Style This is to be a rather unusual run through Curse of Strahd, as some of the content been changed along with small bits of the greater plot. Quite a bit of content from previous editions of Ravenloft, along with new content, has been added in hopes of creating a new experience for newcomers and veterans alike. About the adventure It was a quiet day when a desperate messenger arrived to the great city Ravenport carrying a most distressing message: The nearby lumber town of Halzen has been overtaken by a mysterious mist, any who enter it never to be seen again. The townsfolk put together all the money and resources they had to send an envoy requesting aid, for dark things stalk the nights and more and more of the inhabitants disappear come morning, the sun ever dimmer. The Black Hound's Consort Mercenary Guild has put out an official bounty of 500 units of sterling silver for any that may solve this mystery, but you may find that gold would not have been enough for what you found yourselves against. The Game Master charges a fee to run the game.
Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
“Under a sky streaked gold with morning light, the little town of Phandalin bustles with the everyday magic of a frontier settlement. Merchants haggle over goods, children chase chickens through the square, and old miners swap tall tales at the tavern. But beneath this peaceful surface, something ancient stirs. This is Phandalin. This is Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk. And you are about to become the heroes this town didn't know it needed.” 🎲 Level Range: 1–12 🖥️ Platforms: Foundry VTT, Discord (Voice), and Start Playing Games (Scheduling & Payments) ⏰ Session Length: 3.5–4.5 hours, every Tuesday at 9:00 AM EST (1:00 PM GMT) 💰 Price: $20 per session 🆓 Session Zero: Completely free! The campaign is fully supported through Foundry VTT, featuring automation, dynamic maps, immersive audio, visual effects, and streamlined character management to keep the focus on roleplay, exploration, and adventure. Welcome to a campaign that embraces classic high-fantasy adventure, full of wonder, camaraderie, and the thrill of discovery. Above all, this table is a safe and welcoming space for every kind of player. Whatever your background, whoever you are, you can set your worries aside and step into a journey full of fantasy and mystery alongside friends old and new. This adventure is also especially crafted for beginners, those who don't yet know much about the world of Dungeons & Dragons or the system that ties it all together. I'll be right there to guide you every step of the way, so whether you've never rolled a d20 in your life or you're a returning adventurer, Phandalin has a place for you at its table. 🏳️‍🌈 Safe and Welcoming Space This table is built on respect, inclusion, and collaboration. Everyone is welcome here, regardless of identity, background, or experience with tabletop RPGs. Whether you're rolling your very first d20 or you're a seasoned adventurer, you'll find a friendly group ready to share an unforgettable story together. The goal is simple: make sure every player feels comfortable, heard, and excited to take part in the adventure. 🗡️ A Classic Call to Adventure Step into one of Dungeons & Dragons' most beloved adventures and discover why Phandalin has become such an iconic destination. What begins as a simple escort mission quickly unfolds into a tale of forgotten legends, ambitious villains, hidden treasures, and ancient mysteries. Along the way, you'll meet memorable allies and dangerous foes while exploring a vibrant corner of the Forgotten Realms filled with history, intrigue, and opportunity. ⛰️ Exploration and Discovery Adventure lies beyond every winding trail and weathered doorway. Venture into forgotten temples, abandoned mines, ruined fortresses, and long-lost dungeons, each hiding secrets waiting to be uncovered. Exploration rewards curiosity, careful planning, and clever thinking, offering magical relics, hidden lore, and unexpected encounters for those willing to stray from the beaten path. 🔍 Mystery and Investigation Not every challenge can be solved with a sword. The people of Phandalin each have stories to tell, motives to hide, and secrets worth uncovering. Observant players who ask questions, connect clues, and investigate the world around them will often discover new opportunities, hidden dangers, and alternative solutions that might otherwise remain unseen. 🎭 Roleplay at Heart This is a character-driven game where your choices matter just as much as your abilities. Meaningful conversations, difficult decisions, and memorable relationships are at the heart of the experience. I encourage players to embrace their characters' personalities, ideals, flaws, and goals, creating moments that feel genuine and rewarding. Those who actively engage with the world and bring their characters to life will find the story responding in kind. ⚔️ Meaningful Combat Every battle serves a purpose within the narrative. Some encounters test your tactical skill, others challenge your resource management, and a few may force difficult moral decisions. Victory isn't always guaranteed, and rushing headlong into danger can carry lasting consequences. Teamwork, creativity, and strategy are often just as valuable as a powerful weapon or spell. 🗺️ Cinematic Presentation The world comes alive through immersive presentation. Official module maps enhanced in Foundry VTT, carefully selected music, atmospheric sound effects, dynamic lighting, and vivid narration work together to create memorable scenes. Whether you're descending into forgotten ruins, standing before a looming fortress, or sharing a quiet conversation in a bustling tavern, every moment is presented with the goal of making you feel like you're living inside the story. 📜 Campaign Listing: If you'd like to read the full campaign details, character creation guidelines, house rules, and reserve your seat, you can find everything here: https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmrdy1gb300gok204lq1k7t7h?ref=cmjkeghcz002oif042ddtkai4 Any questions or interested in joining?
