System Hoppers

Overview

There's a vast range of tabletop roleplaying games out there, across a multitude of genres! But the hardest part is always reading up on the rules, getting an adventure together and then getting a group of people to play -and teach- at the same time. Here at System Hoppers we endeavour to put ourselves through the process as often as we can for your amusement! Join us each episode as we try to play as many games as possible and teach you anything you need to know as well! Some fun, some scary, some vastly different - But all to show you just how fun Tabletop Roleplaying Games can be!

Castle VTT

Virtual tabletop (VTT)
English
Free
Castle VTT is currently in active development, so features discussed or shown in screenshots may change. Castle VTT is a virtual tabletop that runs on the GM's own computer. The desktop app contains the whole server, so there is nothing to rent and nothing to configure. One click puts the table online through a Cloudflare Tunnel, and players join from a browser link. There are no seats to buy and no per-player cost, and the campaign lives on the GM's disk as a database file and an uploads folder they can copy or back up like any other folder. It ships its rules engines in the box rather than assembling them from modules. Pathfinder 2e Remaster enforces the three-action economy, the multiple attack penalty and four degrees of success; D&D 5e handles true multiclassing with a shared slot table, separate Pact Magic and per-class save DCs. Both share dynamic lighting with walls and doors, per-player fog of war, server-rolled dice, a 1-20 character builder, and peer-to-peer voice between players' browsers. Importers cover Foundry, Roll20 and Universal VTT, plus a PDF-to-compendium tool with a review step. Castle VTT is in open alpha. Windows, Linux and macOS. Links castlevtt.com - Official website

Sanctum

Dungeons & Dragons
Free
Sanctum is a free, local-first campaign manager built for Dungeons & Dragons 5e Dungeon Masters. It brings every moving part of a campaign , characters and NPCs, a combat tracker, world maps, quests, factions, a story timeline, magic items, handouts and session notes , together in a single fast desktop app that runs entirely offline. There is no account, no cloud and no subscription: a campaign is simply a file on the DM's own machine, and it stays theirs. At the table, Sanctum is built for speed. Its combat tracker handles initiative order, conditions, concentration saves and a live combat log, with one-click import of 140+ SRD monsters. A command palette (Ctrl+K) jumps anywhere instantly, a built-in 5e rules reference is always a click away, and a separate live Player View can be sent to a second monitor or TV to show players exactly what they should see. Characters get full 5e sheets , abilities, skills, spells, currency, hit dice and rests . and DMs can import existing material from Markdown/Obsidian vaults or fillable character-sheet PDFs, then export printable sheets back out.
