PORK MORT

An old-school roleplaying game by old-school roleplaying gamers

Overview

PORK MORT is an old-school fantasy tabletop roleplaying game inspired by Balearic folklore and traditional folktales. Created by Sergio Amat, Mercedes Prats, Jaume Mayans and Daniela Kropeit, the game combines dark fantasy, absurd humor and a distinctive visual style in a strange and dangerous world known simply as The Island. Players take on the roles of unlikely adventurers trying to survive in a land inhabited by witches, giants, demons, talking animals and other bizarre creatures drawn from Mediterranean folklore. Exploration, danger, unpredictable encounters and dark comedy are at the heart of the game.  PORK MORT uses a fast, rules-light system that is fully compatible with

, allowing characters, monsters and adventures to be easily used between both games.

Description

In PORK MORT, players take on the roles of disgraced knights, peasants forced into adventure, cursed hunchbacks, outcast bear-men and other kinds of antiheroes trying to survive on The Island, a magical land ruled by the Porkos (pig-men), who govern all its inhabitants with an iron hoof.  As if that were not enough, the Moiras (anthropomorphic spiders who can supposedly predict the future) have foretold that three of the four pillars supporting The Island have collapsed, and that the end is near. The game prioritizes creativity and exploration, with simple rules designed to adapt to any crazy situation the players might encounter on their journey to become something more than mere wanderers, perhaps even the protagonists of the tales of the future.

System overview & Key features

Player-Facing d20 Rolls

The mechanic is simple: players roll a d20 and add the modifiers from their main attributes and basic abilities to beat a Difficulty Rating, which is normally 12. Players roll both to attack and defend, making them solely responsible for their own fate.

End of the World Calendar

At the beginning of each session, the Game Master makes a roll to see whether one of the calamities foretold by the Moiras and their leader, the Balanguera, comes to pass. Once seven calamities have occurred, the last seal will be broken, the final pillar supporting The Island will fall, and all will dance in Death’s wake as the sea reclaims what is rightfully its own, devouring The Island.

Blessings (OMENS)

Each player starts each day with a certain number of Blessings, depending on their class. They are key to survival, and players must use them wisely. However, they also come with a risk: players should not call upon the gods for help in vain, or they may be in for an unpleasant surprise.

Magic

There is White Magic and Black Magic, depending on whether a character deals more with gods or with demons. But no matter where it comes from, magic is dangerous, even for the one who casts it.

Pact with a Demon

When a player has no Blessings left, they can make up to one pact per day (two for the Witch class) with their personal demon to immediately gain a Blessing. But this favor comes at a price: the player will have to gamble a piece of their soul with the demon, and they had better not lose.

Broken Bodies

When players reach 0 or fewer HP, they roll on a table to determine the consequences. The table has four possible outcomes: unconsciousness, loss of a limb or an eye, bleeding out, or death.

Mapmaking
StarCar is a permanently free linear star systems cartography tool. It enables GMs running sci-fi campaigns to visualize and share star maps with their players easily. It allows a lot of different customizations for orbital bodies, like planets, secondary stars, Ringworlds, Dyson Spheres, and more. GMs can add notes to individual orbital bodies, stars, and moons. The notes can be totally customizable, or use either Traveller or Stars Without Number rules. If they want, the GM can even export a stylized PDF report that details all the notes in an easy-to-follow format. And if the GM just needs something right away? StarCar will roll the dice and generate a totally randomized system: random stars, planets, and even randomized plot hooks. Once the GM is finished, they can export it in a number of different formats: PNG, WebP, or JPG, or with settings like Printer Friendly or Transparent Background. Anything exported is licensed under Creative Commons 4.0, which means the person who makes it owns it. They can even use it in any products they sell, with attribution.

Universal
Dungeondraft is a specialized, standalone map-making software designed specifically for creating high-quality TTRPG battlemaps. Developed by Megasploot (the creator of the world-building tool Wonderdraft), it was released in 2020 and has since become the industry favorite for GMs who want to build detailed, tactical maps without needing professional graphic design skills. It is famous for its "smart" tools that handle walls, lighting, and object scattering automatically, allowing a full encounter map to be completed in minutes. Description Dungeondraft bridges the gap between simple grid-sketching and complex image editors like Photoshop. It features a unique, hand-drawn aesthetic that fits perfectly with modern fantasy games. The software is built for efficiency; drawing a room automatically places floors and walls, and the integrated lighting engine allows you to place torches that cast realistic shadows in real-time. In 2026, it remains a "buy-once-own-forever" staple, free from the subscription models that have taken over much of the creative software market. System Overview & Key Features Smart Wall and Floor Tools Building a structure is as simple as clicking and dragging. The tool automatically handles corners, joins, and textures. If you move a wall, the floor expands with it, and placing a window or door automatically "cuts" the wall to fit the asset. Integrated Dynamic Lighting Dungeondraft allows you to place light sources with customizable colors, intensity, and flicker. These lights interact with the walls you've drawn, casting shadows that provide an instant sense of depth and atmosphere to any dungeon or tavern. Universal VTT Export One of its most powerful features is the ability to export maps directly into formats for Foundry VTT, Roll20, and Fantasy Grounds. These exports include the "wall data" and "light data," meaning you don't have to redraw your walls in your virtual tabletop software. Object Scattering and Paths The Scatter Tool allows you to "paint" clutter like rocks, grass, or debris with randomized rotation and scale, making environments feel organic. The Path Tool lets you draw roads, rivers, or fences that follow a smooth curve automatically. Massive Custom Asset Support While the base software comes with a complete art style, the community has created thousands of additional packs. You can easily import assets from famous artists like Forgotten Adventures or Crosshead, allowing you to completely change the look of your maps. Terrain and Water Painting The software includes a multi-layered terrain brush that lets you blend different textures like sand, dirt, and grass. The water tool allows you to create pools and rivers with adjustable transparency and "edge foam" for a professional finish.
