Alterhearth

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
You gaze up into the mirror, and steel yourself as you open the letter. Within it, is your future - your whole self for the next 3 years. An acceptance or rejection into the College of Sylvarine. You gently pull the paper from the envelope... And smile at yourself. Welcome to Alterhearth! A Deltarune-inspired world of reflections, using the Fate TTRPG System. You and up to 4 other people will play as both monsters and humans, and explore a parallel world to Toby Fox's hit games. Expect a similar style of fantastical "Echo Worlds" [as opposed to "Dark Worlds"] divided up into themed Chapters, with a similar rich lore, fun characters and primarily narrative-based TTRPG experience as opposed to DnD 5e's combat heavy experience. However, expect also the unexpected. The same way, on release, that Deltarune shocked you as an Undertale fan - expect Alterhearth to have the same twists and turns, as well as a dark mystery at its heart... Unlike DR//, with "only one ending", or UT//, where it's "kill or be killed". Alterhearth? Only what you see can ever be real. Please DM me on Reddit or reply to this post to join! Currently undecided, but ideally we'd run from 19:00 - 23:00 GMT, + or - 2 hours. Of course, you'll need to be a big fan of Deltarune, over 18 and ideally have some previous experience with TTRPGs. Please no joke characters.

Short Story Long ago, the land was consumed by war. Cities fell, countless lives were lost, and fear spread as the Avatar, a malevolent force, unleashed demons and monsters across the realm. In time, a band of heroes from distant lands, joined by champions of the realm itself, rose to face the darkness. Through their courage and sacrifice, the Avatar was finally defeated, and peace was restored. Yet not all wounds healed so easily. During the war, one of the dwarven clans, driven by greed and manipulated by the Avatar’s influence, sided with the forces of darkness. Though the evil was defeated, the stain of that betrayal remained. Trust in the dwarves was broken, and many races and rival clans never truly forgave them. Now, in the city of Amber Trees, also known as Amber City, a new chapter begins. To rebuild their honor and restore faith in their people, the dwarves have founded an adventurers’ guild, offering brave souls the chance to take on dangerous missions, defend the realm, and shape its future. Our adventurers arrive in Amber City in search of glory, fortune, and purpose. By taking up the guild’s call, they will not only forge their own legends, but also help the dwarves reclaim the trust they lost and prove that redemption can be earned through courage, loyalty, and deeds. After some time the dwarven guilds regained some of their reputation back with the help of some powerful heroes. They are now sending caravans to the elven and human territories guarded by the new adventurers and you are one of them. ↠Amount of Players recommended for session: 3 or 4 players ↠Type of Campaign: Campaign with westmarch style+ Homebrew setting ↠Game System: 5e 2014 + UA with homebrew rules where we dont have any rules in the books ↠Game Style: more on Combat and less on Roleplay ↠Voice Chat: Required, we will use discord ↠Difficulty of Campaign: easy ↠Experience Level: - Any, everyone is welcome ↠Starting Level: Players will make lvl 1 characters with point buy and do one-shots westmarch style low lvl quests with other random players that are online at the same time as them until they form a stable party to go after the high lvl campaign quests. ↠General Overview of Campaign: After a big war that included many races one of them lost its trust . Monday – Friday (there's a group with 3 players on Thursday, Friday at 18:00 GMT+2 & a group with 4 players on Saturday at 17:00 GMT+2) A group decides on day & time Most people will probably play between 18:00 – 23:00 (GMT+2) It'll be played in a Discord voice chat "Theatre of the Mind" playstyle (means no VTT) Discord (weebseatshit) *PREMISE* You are dragged into a dangerous encounter together with other unlucky ones. Now you are bonded whether you want it or not. Since you are a witness, some people want you dead, watch your back(s) & trust no one It's an RP-focused, casual, beginner-friendly Forgotten Realms based homebrew campaign, with an emphasis on story & adventures Ratio: 60 Roleplay/30 Exploration/10 Combat Starting level is 1, Point Buy, Milestone leveling Spells become cantrips, a player can cast them without components or GP Cooldown of spells depends from their power level & the DM's will, but if a player is gonna spam spells, i'll Elfen Lied him or put some shit like Leo Bonhart from Witcher  Some spells that affect game's balance & world, may be forbidden. It'll be discussed HP are cinematic. Depending from how much & what kind of damage a character receives, i'll adjust his condition Only these races are allowed: Human, Elf (Moon, Wood), Dwarf, Goliath, Tiefling (Purple, Pink, Blue), Tystling (a human with cat ears (& eyes)) Artificer & Psion aren't allowed I'll describe locations & looks with little to no detail Just like with the books, i'd prefer that every player imagined their own stuff (& because there may be an info that player may not get or just ignore) About forbidden spells As an example, this is only level 1 Wizard, but i hope you get an idea Mending Charm Person Detect Magic Detect Poison and Disease Friends Unseen Servant Tasha's Hideous Laughter Sudden Awakening Sleep Sense Emotion Puppet Identify Id Insinuation Healing Elixir Disguise Self Comprehend Languages Cause Fear Ressurection & lethal spells Instead of using ability checks or in-game tools (acquiring unique items, talking to people, searching for clues, improvise), a player casts a spell that speedruns a campaign But a player can prepare all other spells A tystling is similar to a cat Monochrome darkvision Enhanced senses: smell, hearing, vision, touch & balance (+3 Dexterity, Perception, Acrobatics) Soft step: walking is almost noiseless (unless a tystling has something noisy on), running is slightly quieter comparing to other races (+4 Stealth) A tystling is shorter than an elf, but taller than a dwarf A tystling is slim like an elf, but lighter than an elf, with smaller muscles. That makes a tystling even more agile & dexterous than an elf, but it's very hard for a tystling to lift or carry medium heavy things (8 AC, -5 Strength, Athletics)
