Hunter: The Interning
Monster-X
To most of the world this strange company is known for peddling its so called 'advanced technology' to governments, arms dealers, and medical providers. It is also a multination corporation devoted to studying and dealing with the occult, from which it gains its technology. Due to the clandestine nature of the supernatural, most people who interact with them, and even their customer facing staff think it is just some strange lifestyle brand, and that most of its products are little more that snake oil for the superstitious.
However this is far from the truth, for monster are real, and a threat. Monster-X is a company dead set on making as much profit off of them as possible, sending their techs, often times poorly trained or even unaware of the true nature of what they are facing, to secure samples of whatever they can, and then the scientists attempt to reverse engineer them into products, such as an anti-aging cream made from vampires, or a steroid derived from the adrenal glands of a raging garou.
You are recently 'hired' interns. Maybe you were ex-military or law enforcement and had one too many encounters with the supernatural. Maybe you're a crackpot conspiracy theorist, or perhaps a college student desperate for credits.
Regardless your old life is over, and you awoke some time previously in an underground barracks in Monster-X's Research lab in Togo, where you were given some modicum of training to prepare. But now is your first day.
Welcome aboard.
This is a modern 5e (2014) D&D game set in the world of darkness and heavily flavored by Hunter: The reckoning. In it you play as newly minted techs for the international corporation Monster-X, widely considered by the monster hunting world the 'pizza delivery' of monster hunters. You are given experimental technology and sent off to scrap whatever profit you can from things beyond mortal knowledge, fighting against the things that go bump in the night.
Naturally, since world of darkness is earth, the base race for everyone is human. However, you can 'volunteer' (its not your character's choice, you as the player choose) to receive gene therapy to alter your genetic code (effectively, the other races) and change your abilities and appearance. You may also elect (again player choice, not character) to receive even FURTHER augmentation (grim hallow transformations, but only werewolf, vampire, or eldritch abomination), but at that point you are considered the property of the company, a bomb in planted in your brain, and you aren't really considered a 'person' anymore.
A note all classes have proficiency with firearms, however unless you have 'martial weapon proficiency' or play an artificer, you can only use pistols.
