Description

🎓 Who Are You? You are a student at the Nocturne Conservatory, a hidden college for young witches beneath the town of Duskfall. Most students are between 18 and 22 years old, balancing two very different lives. By day, you attend classes, work part-time jobs, hang out with friends, and try to survive college. By night, you study advanced magic, dangerous rituals, and centuries-old traditions. Whether you were born into the magical community or discovered it later, you're still trying to figure out who you want to become.

🏫 Your Two Worlds

☀️ Life Above Ground

Outside the Conservatory, Duskfall functions like any other small coastal college town. You might spend your days:
  • Attending university lectures
  • Working a part-time job
  • Meeting friends at cafés
  • Going to concerts
  • Pulling all-nighters before exams
  • Exploring the town
  • Joining clubs or organizations
Most people believe Duskfall is completely ordinary. They're wrong.

🌙 The Nocturne Conservatory

Hidden beneath abandoned salt mines lies one of the oldest magical colleges in existence. Here you'll study subjects like:
  • Ritual Magic
  • Arcane Theory
  • Demonology
  • Magical History
  • Wards & Protection
  • Potion Brewing
  • Cursecraft
  • Spirit Studies
-Evocation -Divination Your professors expect excellence. Failure can have consequences beyond a failing grade.

🎭 What Is This Campaign About?

This is a character-driven supernatural mystery focused on: 🔮 Magic 🕵️ Investigations 🎓 College Life 🤝 Friendships & Rivalries 📖 Hidden History 🩸 Difficult Choices While combat certainly happens, your greatest tools are curiosity, teamwork, and creative problem solving.

What's your life like outside class? Do you...
  • Work at a bookstore?
  • Play in a local band?
  • Run the campus radio station?
  • Captain an intramural team?
  • Volunteer in town?
  • Spend every night buried in the library?

How do you feel about magic? Maybe it's...
  • Your calling.
  • Your family tradition.
  • Just another subject to pass.
  • A burden.

  • Something you're still learning to trust.

Why did you come to the Conservatory? Everyone has their own reason. Maybe you wanted:
  • Knowledge.
  • Freedom.

  • A fresh start.

💬 Roleplaying Tips Your character is an adult, but adulthood doesn't mean having everything figured out. Lean into uncertainty. Make mistakes. Build friendships. Question authority. Support your classmates. Sometimes the biggest victories happen outside of combat.
📖 What Your Character Knows Every student knows: ✅ Magic exists. ✅ The Nocturne Conservatory is one of the oldest magical colleges in the world. ✅ Duskfall has a hidden magical community. ✅ Magical traditions are deeply important. ✅ Strange things occasionally happen around town. Your character does not automatically know: ❌ Every magical secret. ❌ Every hidden faction. ❌ The truth behind Duskfall's history. ❌ Why certain traditions exist. Those answers will be discovered throughout the campaign.
🌒 Welcome to Duskfall Study hard. Trust carefully. Question everything. Because in Duskfall... Some secrets have been waiting centuries for someone to uncover them. Like to application: Log in to view

Looking for players for a CWN campaign tentatively titled “Chrome Fires Burning.” Voice is on Discord, VTT will probably be roll20. Everyone is welcome, the only rule is don’t be a dick. Games will be Sunday nights at 9PM CST Elevator pitch is as follows: The year is 2072. In 2025 the development of a new drug, ephemerol, lead to unbelievable advances in cybernetics and technological implantation. Able to bridge the gap between the nervous system and machine circuitry, ephemerol was hailed as a miracle drug, ushering in a new age of transhumanism However, before this new technological golden age could be upon us, it was smothered in the cradle by corporate greed. A jealousy guarded secret, the corporations who developed it held the formula for the miracle drug hostage, demanding corporate sovereignty in exchange for granting access to the masses. A combination of public promises, lobbyists, and paid politicians ensured this deal went through The gift became a double edged sword as the drug was distributed, only working with the cybernetics supplied by those corporations granted sovereignty, allowing them to gobble up more and more influence, to the point that entire cities have become little more than corporate towns, beholden to the companies that own them Within these sovereign territories, anything that threatens the bottom line is meet with brutal consequences. The workers who decided to rise up, to unionize, were branded criminals and domestic terrorists, locked away if not executed in a back alley Public utilities have been sold off little by little, leaving those who refuse the hand of the corporations with rapidly dwindling resources. The once mighty governments of the world now forced to bend the knee to the oligarchs Gangs run rampant, acting with impunity as long as their dues are paid, or left to their own devices due to lack of resources to stop them Despite this turmoil, there is new opportunity. Companies now fight a desperate war for market share, managers willing to pay to sabotage one another for the next promotion. Money talks, and right now, it’s screaming Chicago is one such battleground. Built into a shining edifice as the headquarters of several massive corporations, it now resembles a patchwork of countries, as each corporation claims sovereign territory within the blocks of city property it lays claim to. A hub of trade even in this time, boardroom battles spill out on to the streets, bullet and blade picking up where ink and negotiation fail

Steel Rift League

Combat focused
Fights, tactics and initiative take up most of the table time.
Play by post
The whole game runs as written posts in a chat or forum, so nobody has to be online at the same time.
Hello perspective player! I just stumbled on Steel Rift and have made a lite RP, Living World Arena/Tourney/League server!. It is Play-By-Post, with me handling the map and rulings so that it can be time-zone and time-available agnostic! Players are free to schedule between themselves if they want to resolve a match over Tabletop Sim with me as Arbiter, but no one is reqiured to do that. (Also feel free to send pics of physical minis if you want to use/display them! The system is mini-agnostic for anyone interested in playing Steel Rift locally.) There is 1 change I have made so that its easier to manage as a PbP game (inches to Hex Tiles), and there is currently 1 very simple homebrew added. You wont need to buy a copy of the rules, as I have them available on the server. Advanced Rules will be added over time, both to not overwhelm players but also so I can cherry pick what works with the League and missions that I will present players with (and to a lesser extent the flimsy lore I have for this game-world). Players will be a General Purpose Administrator/Logistics A.I., usually manufactured and purchased by Militaries and MegaCorps for admin work on large vessels and in company-cities. In this case though, the players have been purchased by an Underboss of a Redlight planet. They'll be placed in control of the crime faction's Blood Sport Assets in the burgeoning, new Mecha Coliseums popping up all around the seedy ecumenopolis. You'll put together HE-Vs and teams and enter them into Bouts, Tournaments, Leagues, etc. Obtain purses and prizes from wins, bet on other player's matches for side profit, and go Rogue to get out from under the crime boss's thumb! Eventually players will be able to accept contracts off world for MegaCorps and Sovereignties (ala BattleTech style) and will be able to flex more of the mission types and advanced rules over time. I'm running it via a purpose made Discord server and using Tabletop Sim purely so the maps and models will be a bit more exciting than a 2d, top-town grid. There is currently only 1 mechanical roll tied to Roleplay itself (subject to change depending on what players decide to get up to). You can always hit me with ideas and things you'd like to see that we can work together to make happen! If anyone is interested feel free to DM me and ask any questions you might have! A final note: The game is tagged as 18+, please respect that. And if any player has a concern about anything (including regarding me) please feel empowered to bring it to my attention so it can be resolved!
