Description

The campaign is set in 1884 London, England with the investigators all somehow (one way or another) finding themselves in the employ of the mysterious Burke & Townsend Inquiries of Those Matters Most Obscure.... only the proprietors, Henry Burke and Edward Townsend have both gone missing. Now the business, and their cases, have been left to you in the interim.

The whole game runs as written posts in a chat or forum, so nobody has to be online at the same time.
Hello perspective player! I've set up a Living World discord server with a unique world. Its very Rules-lite, RP being custom (heavily taking from Salvage Union) and Steel Rift for most combat. It is Play-By-Post, with me handling the map and rulings so that it can be time-zone and time-available agnostic! (Also feel free to send pics of physical minis if you want to use/display them! The system is mini-agnostic for anyone interested in playing Steel Rift locally.) There are several changes now that I have made so that its easier to manage as a PbP game (inches to Hex Tiles), as well as things that give more options to players. You wont need to buy a copy of the rules, as I have them available on the server. Advanced Rules will be added over time, both to not overwhelm players but also so I can cherry pick what works with the League and missions that I will present players with (and to a lesser extent the flimsy lore I have for this game-world). Players will be a General Purpose Administrator/Logistics A.I. (aka ʒenais), usually manufactured and purchased by Militaries and MegaCorps for admin work on large vessels and in company-cities. In this case though, the players have been purchased by an Underboss of a Redlight planet. They'll be placed in control of the crime faction's Blood Sport Assets in the burgeoning, new Mecha Coliseums popping up all around the seedy ecumenopolis. You'll put together HE-Vs and teams and enter them into Bouts, Tournaments, Leagues, etc. Obtain purses and prizes from wins, bet on other player's matches for side profit, and go Rogue to get out from under the crime boss's thumb! Eventually players will be able to accept contracts off world for MegaCorps and Sovereignties (ala BattleTech style) and will be able to flex more of the mission types and advanced rules over time. I'm running it via a purpose made Discord server and using Tabletop Sim purely so the maps and models will be a bit more exciting than a 2d, top-town grid. There is currently only 1 mechanical roll tied to Roleplay itself (subject to change depending on what players decide to get up to). You can always hit me with ideas and things you'd like to see that we can work together to make happen! If anyone is interested feel free to DM me and ask any questions you might have! A final note: The game is tagged as 18+, please respect that. And if any player has a concern about anything (including regarding me) please feel empowered to bring it to my attention so it can be resolved!

Not for the fragile or the mentally ill.  Published module: The Fall of Plaguestone. Twist: Run as an Otherworlder / Isekai adventure (influences include Sword Art Online, Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash, The Wizard of Oz, the “Den” segment of the animated film Heavy Metal, and similar stories). You and a few others are somehow brought to another world of monsters, magic, and madness. Optional rules and Character creation: All player characters are Human only. Ancestral Paragon, Free Archetype, gradual ability boosts, Automatic bonus progresion are in play. Characters begin with amnesia. They have no classes or background—these must be earned in play. No evil characters. Not using the free ability boosts method. Ability scores are rolled: 3d6, then replace the lowest die with a 6. Only ancestry boost is applied. Ability scores (and the resulting bell curve) help describe your character. Attribute − 10 is the modifier. Good and Evil are objective, real forces. Alignment is not used, but sins committed are tracked. Introduction: You arrived at the northeastern tip of the nation of Isger, inside a farmer’s harvest and seed storage building, surrounded by Tar Baphon's undead hordes. one of the otherworld characters on watch ran outside and was promptly slain by ghouls. Seems all of you are trapped! Bort Bargrith's caravan clears the way and intent on resupply stop at the harvest storage building. Bort the dwarf rogue, Tamil the elven bard, and Shae the halfling ranger discover all of you. There is a confusing moment when no one can comunicate due to language. Bort provides a magical ring that gives you litteracy and fluency in the Common Andorian language. Bort says, "you must come with us or you will die here! The farmer families who opperated these farms are dead and by salvage rites you lot own all of this Stock. You can join my caravan fleeing Tar Baphon, in exchange for some of your goods."   GM: on the journey you may learn languages, purchase 30 gold of starting equipment, through use of Bort's magic rings and from the mass of refugees in the caravan get training in a trade (earn your background) and adapt to this world (earn your class) in the months of travel south. Setting context (past twenty years): Tar Baphon, the Slayer of Aroden, the Arch-lich, and the Dread Tyrant’s undead armies are marching south. The Goblinblood Wars have recently ended (a united effort by greenskin and scaled races to genocide everyone else). The orc war against the dwarves of the Five Kings Mountains has only recently ended. The hobgoblin Ironfang invasion of Molthune and Nirmathas has recently ended. Cults of undeath, disease, plague, death, chaos and destruction (Urgathoa, the Whispering Way, Rovagug) have been largely decimated, but hidden cultists remain and anyone you meet could be one. A recent witch-hunting inquisition died out, yet public suspicion of spellcasters still runs deep among survivors. A plague on the east side of the nation of Isger killed 70% of the mortal population. Platform: Discord. Voice. I will share my screen. I use Pathbuilder ( $5 to unlock all features, it is helpful if you have it, but you do not need it.). Starting: At a time the players agree on, once I have three or more players. Contact me here if you want to join and play in this Adventure.

House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Whether you are a recruit, an adventurer seeking glory, a criminal serving your sentence, or a local hero, you have found yourself at Scalewatch a fortress-city standing against the horrors that crawl from Gnarltongue Hollow. With too few soldiers to defend the border, you and a mismatched band of survivors have been given a forgotten outpost of your own. Build it. Defend it. Make it a home. Hunt the Primals that escape the Hollow, protect the people of Eldorune, and venture into the jungle to document what lies beyond the border. But the Hollow does not give up its secrets easily. Most who enter never return. Scalewatch is the last great bastion between civilization and Gnarltongue Hollow, a vast and hostile jungle where strange creatures known as Primals emerge from the depths. With soldiers stretched thin and the border growing more dangerous by the day, you have been given an abandoned outpost and a simple order: hold the line. Build your bastion into something worth defending, protect the people of Eldorune, and hunt whatever makes it past the walls. But survival requires more than a strong sword arm. Study the Primals you encounter. Examine their bodies, behaviors, and strange adaptations. Document what you learn so others might survive the creatures you face tomorrow. Venture beyond the border into the Hollow itself, where every expedition brings new discoveries and new dangers. The deeper you go, the more questions you will find, and some answers may be better left buried. Set in the high-fantasy world of Ithyra, The Hollow Hungers takes a more grounded and gritty approach to fantasy, focusing on survival, monster hunting, exploration, and the harsh realities of the frontier. Resources matter. Wounds matter. Your bastion matters. Every expedition carries risks, and every decision can determine who makes it home. This campaign is for players who enjoy narrative-driven adventures, meaningful choices, monster hunting, exploration, and building something together. My style is heavily narrative and choice-focused. There is rarely one correct answer, and the world will respond to what you do. You will decide what threats to pursue, what discoveries to record, how your bastion develops, who you trust, and how far you are willing to venture into the Hollow. Build your home. Hold the border. Hunt the monsters. Uncover what lies within. Most who enter never return.
