Tales from Myriad

A Brand New World At Your Fingertips!

Overview

Tales from Myriad is a Campaign-focused fantasy game run by a GM for at least 2 players. It is a 2d6 system with exploding dice and a magic dice pool-per cast (with miscasts!). It embraces whimsy and chaos, making every session an unpredictable adventure. Its standout features are its unique magic system that adds excitement and surprise to every spell, its character creation is quick and easy (plus, CLOTHES! Your wardrobe keeps you alive!) and the mechanics are approachable for newcomers while still offering plenty of depth and creative freedom for more seasoned players. With its focus on dungeon-delving and its playful, unpredictable style, Myriad is perfect for those who love creativity, surprises, and a touch of chaos in their games.

A dungeon game

A Dungeon Game is a light, old-school style tabletop roleplaying game of subterranean exploration, written by Chris Bissette and published by his studio Loot The Room. It is the second edition of his earlier game A Dragon Game, whose first edition was a ten-page game released on itch.io in 2021, and the second edition was announced on 17 November 2022. The game is free: the full, up-to-date text is on the web at dungeon.loottheroom.uk, and the PDF and EPUB versions are name-your-own-price on itch.io, where it has a 5.0 rating from 53 ratings. Bissette describes it as a living text that grows with new monsters and adventures, and Dicebreaker called it "a brutally simple take on OSR roleplaying games". Its first adventure, The Moss Mother's Maze, was released in June 2023. The system is the second edition of A Dragon Game, and its light rules are based on Logan Knight's light checks, modified. Description Players take on delvers who explore dungeons, wilds and ruins for silver, and the Game Master (GM) runs them with random tools for dungeons, treasure and encounters. Characters have no classes, and each player rolls an Occupation, a former job such as Archaeologist, Burglar or Healer, which gives advantage on related tasks. The dungeon is dangerous, a character who drops to zero health risks dying, and a rich haul matters more than a victory. The game asks a table to play carefully. Time is counted in ten-minute exploration turns, wandering monsters arrive on a schedule, and magic costs a permanent price. It suits groups who want a quick, rules-light dungeon crawl and a GM who enjoys random tables, and it works as an entry point for newcomers, since The Moss Mother's Maze includes pamphlets for new players and GMs.

Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition

High-Fantasy

Wizards of the Coast
Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition (D&D 3E) is a fantasy tabletop roleplaying game of dungeon delving and heroic adventure, published by Wizards of the Coast in 2000. It was the first edition the company released entirely itself, and the Player's Handbook went on sale on August 10, 2000, with its debut at Gen Con that month. Monte Cook, Jonathan Tweet and Skip Williams all contributed to the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide and Monster Manual, and each then wrote one of the three books, with Tweet credited with the design of the Player's Handbook. The designers set out to simplify and declutter the whole system. "Advanced" was dropped from the title because the Basic game had been discontinued and the simpler name was more marketable, but it was still called the third edition. The system directly replaced Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Second Edition (1989). It was revised in 2003 as Dungeons & Dragons v.3.5, a deliberately small update. Description Players take on adventurers built from a race and a class, and the Dungeon Master (DM) runs dungeons, monsters and campaigns. The edition removed many of the old limits: restrictions on class and race combinations, and on level advancement for non-human characters, are gone. Combat expanded to include a grid system that supports tactical play and miniatures. The game asks a table to be comfortable with character building. Skills and feats give players more ways to customize a character than the older edition did, and the options keep growing with each rulebook. Reviewers at the time praised its art and tightly packed rules, and one called it the best combat-oriented roleplaying game available.
