At First Sight

Overview

At First Sight is a role-playing game where most of the action takes place in The Breach, a city founded after a magical cataclysm known as The War. The city is dominated by five great mages whose towers rise around a massive rift of darkness created by the power of The Prophet, who is said to hold the fate of the city in his hands. The strange and esoteric city we live in is divided into five districts, each hosting one of the towers where the great mages reside, and which give their names to the schools of magic that shape its inhabitants.

Description

The city is in decline, magic is spiraling out of control, bringing plagues and magical monstrosities. The five great mages haven’t been seen for a long time, and people are starting to take the law into their own hands, fighting for control of the city’s various zones. For this reason, many mages are beginning to form small gangs in their hideouts, competing for power and respect while dealing with plagues and monstrosities.  The goal of most of these gangs is to find The Prophet, as whoever discovers him will decide the city's fate. All this while avoiding The Affliction of The Breach, a "disease" caused by prolonged exposure to the massive rift dividing the city. This affliction generates strange memories in the protagonists, driving them mad or robbing them of control over their magic, turning them into new monstrosities wandering the city's streets. At First Sight is a highly narrative game with intense, exaggerated action, where players manage one of these mage gangs struggling to survive in this cursed city known as The Breach.

Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Second Edition

High-Fantasy

Wizards of the Coast
Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Second Edition (AD&D 2E) is a fantasy tabletop roleplaying game of heroic adventure, published by TSR in 1989 and designed mainly by David "Zeb" Cook. Work began in 1987 with a small TSR team led by Cook, and Steve Winter and Cook redeveloped the edition after Gary Gygax, who wrote the first edition, left TSR in 1985. The Player's Handbook and Dungeon Master's Guide sold over 400,000 copies in their first year, though lifetime sales fell short of the first edition, and the Dungeon Master's Guide won Origins and Gamer's Choice awards. TSR re-released the core books in 1995 with new covers, art and layouts, and the line was succeeded by Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition in 2000, which was revised into Dungeons & Dragons 3.5. The system directly evolved from Advanced Dungeons & Dragons First Edition (1977). It was designed to work with first edition rules, but its information was streamlined and clarified. Description Players take on adventurers drawn from a set of races and classes, and the Dungeon Master (DM) runs dungeons, wilderness and, in later years, whole settings. The edition shifted the game's feel from 1960s and 1970s sword and sorcery to medieval history and mythology, and it stressed heroic roleplaying and teamwork. Demons and devils were removed by name and renamed tanar'ri and baatezu. The second edition grew far beyond a single fantasy world. TSR added settings such as Ravenloft (horror), Spelljammer (science fiction) and Dark Sun (apocalyptic), each with its own rules supplements. The game asks a table to keep a few tables and a fair amount of arithmetic, and the many optional rules mean the DM should decide what is in play at the start of a campaign.

Everyday Heroes is a modern-day action roleplaying game designed by Sigfried Trent, Chris "Goober" Ramsley, and D. Todd Scott, with Jeff Grubb - co-designer of Wizards of the Coast's original d20 Modern - serving as design consultant. Published by Evil Genius Games following a 2022 Kickstarter, it takes the 20-year-old d20 Modern concept and rebuilds it entirely on the 5th Edition SRD chassis: same six ability-driven hero archetypes, same "why play an elf wizard when you can play Rambo" pitch, but running on rules 5e players will recognize instantly.  The line has grown around a string of officially licensed cinematic settings - Escape from New York, Highlander, The Crow, Pacific Rim, Kong: Skull Island, Total Recall - letting the system double as an action-movie conversion kit as much as a standalone game.
