Update log - August 2026 “Group manager”

Oh boy. This is going to be a lot of things to talk about. We have been busy and productive. But, as is tradition - here is an update on the updates we have added - We have Group manager, post listings updates, library redesign, timezone filtering, game applications and some more. So here we go. Group manager We'll start with the biggest new feature on Groupfinder. The Group manager. This has been something we have been working on since the start of the year and now finally got around to releasing it.  /images/general-media/1786708533_fHKbu2AS.png What it is, is the logical next step from Groupfinder's core function. Once you find a group, you can move everything to the manager and keep track of your players, your documents, notes, maps, images, links, polls, timefinder polls and session notes. As an integrated part of the platform it will help you keep everything organized and in one place. You can read more about the manager on this info page we created.  But to break it down simply, here is a list of all the base functionalities: /images/manager-info/group-overview.png Manager dashboard As a group owner/GM, you can create a manager group within moments - Enter the game's name, add some illustrative images and the group is created. On the dashboard you can start adding images, organizing documents and inviting your players. Asset management All documents most likely should not be visible to all members. You can set different view and edit permissions for each category. For example, create a separate category for "The Goblin Boys" and let only your goblin players see the contents. You can share forbidden goblin knowledge with only them. Or create a category, that everyone can see for your worldbuilding lore bits. The map of the world, the overall history of the campaign or an illustration of the tavernkeeper that already hates your PCs. We cannot describe all the possibilities and approaches, as we imagine you will all find a different way to interact and organize your games. And more power to you - this is your group manager, we only provide the framework. Player folders To keep specific assets private, you can find a folder on the right side of every member. This is a folder that only the group owner and that specific user can see - no external prying eyes allowed. Timefinder Scheduling is the biggest boss of tabletop gaming? Pretty much. While we cannot create a tool that completely solves it - we have timefinder - a scheduling poll system to settle on the next date that works for everyone. Session notes Players forgetting what happened last time, only to be reminded moments before the session starts that they are about to fight the BBEG? Write a session note after the last game and make it easier for your players to remember what happened last time and what the current direction is. Session notes can also be useful when trying to go back in time to know where the downward spiral of your campaign began. In addition players can leave session feedback. Things they liked and things they didn't. This will help any GM improve by focusing more on aspects the players enjoyed and cut back or rethink parts that didn't really jive with them. Polls, questionnaires and safety tools Group manager has interactive assets for you to use to settle on a specific question, understand the players' preferences and make sure everyone is enjoying the game, by having everyone fill a safety tool questionnaire. You never know if you don't ask. And there is more to discover. You will get the best idea of what and how the manager works by just tinkering and trying it out on your own. You can switch over to (and from) the manager by interacting with the finder/manager button in the menu. /images/general-media/1786709626_5gGr5AH5.png Post listings update We updated both the player and games listings pages. With added subcategories to quickly filter and find specific types of posts, you should find it easier to only find what you are looking for. /images/general-media/1786709750_LLT1IETF.png With this update, Groupfinder is now welcoming all West Marches games, when before we were rather hesitant about groups with no fixed amount of seats. Library redesign The library has slowly grown into one of our core elements. And the library, while practical, was due some attention. And boy - it definitely got some. With this update, the entries have a more logical layout. The tabletop community has tons of interesting games, projects and creators. We are all about empowering and helping you spread the word. /images/general-media/1786710068_3ifxmq5c.png If we created an entry for you in the past - be sure to visit your page and claim it. Once we approve your claim, you will have access to editing and improving it. And if one of your favourite creators, projects or game systems is in the library, be sure to pop over and click that "Recommend" button - this will help them a lot, as they will become more visible in the library. Timezone filtering Timezones and filtering by time and day were a thing many of you had asked for throughout many months. While we understood the need for such filtering options, we couldn't pin down exactly HOW the filtering should work. Well, now we did - now you can either look games by selecting your timezone (and the deviation) or by selecting specific weekdays and expected game starting times. /images/general-media/1786710633_01LM4ygV.pngYou should be able to use the filters to find games that work with your schedule. Game applications Want your potential players to fill out an application, to make sure they are a good fit for your game? You can build a game application that users can fill out. If they seem like a good match - get in touch with them and invite them to the group you created via group manager (See how this all ties together nicely?). /images/general-media/1786710844_lwLsPRj0.png And many other smaller updates This update log is long enough as it is - but there are many other smaller updates and improvements to discover and utilize. But hopefully we are steering Groupfinder in the right direction to make it even better for everyone to use and eventually start playing. If you have any feedback or critique - we welcome it all. Either use the Contact us button, or join our Discord server and we can chat there. The team is there ready to listen and help. Be sure to try out our new Group manager and share your feedback and ideas with us. Till next time.

Hello, Thought I would reach out to invite you to a game we are running on Monday. We need two more players to run it and I thought I would reach out to you. This is an age 18+ oneshot that uses 5.5e rules however the races are animal races. The race traits have been made and there are 7 races to choose from. The world has a rich lore for you to discover and I can't wait to share it with you. Currently I am looking for players to run through a game called Hunter's Delight, A one shot made within this world. I am looking for a maximum of 4 players. This will be my first time GMing an online game but not the first time playing online. It's a bit of a murder mystery but also quite funny too. I am happy for players to create their own characters. The level for the oneshot is level 10, and there are 5 premade characters I can share with you on D and D beyond if you are new to the game. The races we are using are beastfolk, as in animal people, not people who can transform into animals. I hombrewed the races and the race traits are it little confusing and could do with some tailoring so we have decided to use the standard races from DND 5.5e and just flavour the race traits to the seven beastfolk races in the homebrew world. These races include: * Eaglefolk * Vulturefolk *Lionfolk *Cheetahfolk *Hyenafolk and Tigerfolk There are two slots open so please let me know as soon as you can if you can join. I've made it to be fun, quirky but yet exciting and, of course, violent. I have very much enjoyed creating a whole range of NPCs and scenarios and have very much enjoyed producing quite a bit of art for it, especially map wise. It is a game that is roleplay heavy and combat heavy as well. Would love to share this with you if you are available.  Hope to see you soon.

Hi, hey, and howdy! The name's CD. I'm a 28 y/o. lady suffering from a chronic and devastating condition known as Forever GM Syndrome and currently seeking treatment. I'm a longtime GM, writer, roleplayer, and worldbuilder looking for a one-shot, mini-campaign, or otherwise relatively self-contained game where I can finally sit on the player side of the table for a little bit. My ideal system would be FATE Accelerated, although I'm absolutely open to other rules-light, narrative-first systems with a similar philosophy. Now, here's the unusual part: I'd really love the opportunity to play one of my pre-existing characters. Let's take one of them out of their original canon and see what happens when they're dropped into somebody else's story. To be clear, I'm not looking for a GM to memorize 40 pages of lore, recreate my setting, or somehow bend their entire game around my character. I would be very happy to: - Change details of my character's history. - Adapt powers and abilities for the system. - Use an alternate-universe version of them. - Strip away setting-specific baggage entirely. - etc. My tastes lean heavily toward character-driven stories, urban science-fantasy, horror-comedy, morally complicated people, and found-family dynamics. I enjoy serious scenes, but also appreciate games where everyone understands that the characters are occasionally going to become complete idiots in the best possible way. Do you have a FATE one-shot sitting around? A weird little adventure you've wanted to run? A mini-campaign that needs another player? Please liberate me from the GM screen for a week or two!

Hey, names Spencer (discord handle is legio_xxii) I'm just guy (26) who is looking to play some good dnd campaigns. I've been mostly dming for the last year so I kinda want to jump into a game as a player as well.  I'm pretty laid back and do my best to avoid controversy at my tables. I've been playing pretty much every week the last years and have experience with every class in 2014/2024 so I can play whatever I have to that the party needs.  I'm a big fan of good plots in the story and working n a collaborative narrative with the rest of the table

AVATAR: THE SEVERED AGE "They told us the elements were sacred. Then they put a price on them, a chip in your skull, and a payment plan on your soul." The Premise Korra has been dead for three years. In the decades before her death, the Spirit Portal in Republic City stopped being a miracle and became an energy source. Spirit vines spread through the city's foundations, rail lines, power grid... and eventually into people. Engineers learned to route chi through circuitry. Ripperdocs learned to graft it into flesh. What should have taken a century took thirty years. The world woke up neon. Today, anyone with enough money or enough debt can buy bending. A non-bender walks into a corporate storefront, signs a financing contract for a Chi Emulator, and walks out throwing fire like a Fire Nation soldier. The Equalist dream came true. Not through revolution. Through retail. Every implant comes with a hidden cost. The more chrome you install, the quieter your own chi becomes. Benders slowly lose their connection to the elements until, eventually, they become Severed. No spirits. No bending. No way back... at least, that's what everyone believes. Meanwhile, somewhere in the world is an Earth Kingdom child who should have become the next Avatar. They are three years old. No one has found them. The White Lotus has searched for years without success. Some believe the child was born spirit-deaf. Others whisper a corporation found them first and is quietly discovering what an Avatar's soul is worth. Some fear the Avatar Cycle itself is breaking. Everyone is searching for the same missing child. You'll either find them first... ...or discover why no one else ever could. What You Can Play: A traditional bender trying to preserve a dying art. A Severed ex-bender willing to burn the world to reclaim their element. A Ghost, projecting their spirit into the digital Weave where something ancient may already be waiting. A ripperdoc, fixer, mercenary, or corporate Emulator runner drowning in debt. An Air Nomad who has rejected cybernetics entirely, remaining one of the few souls still fully connected to the spirits and uniquely capable of healing what technology has stolen. Themes: Cyberpunk noir Corporate corruption Spiritual horror Identity and humanity The price of progress Hope in a broken world This is a campaign about difficult choices with permanent consequences. Expect street-level jobs, corporate conspiracies, spirits hiding in fiber-optic cables, desperate people trying to reclaim what they've lost, and quiet moments between the action that remind everyone what's worth fighting for. The central question is simple: What are you willing to trade away... and can you ever get it back? System: Savage Worlds Adventure Edition (custom Avatar conversion) No prior Savage Worlds experience required. No Avatar knowledge required. All rules and setting information will be provided. The game is fast, cinematic, beginner-friendly, and focused on character-driven storytelling. "Chrome is easy to buy. Getting your soul back takes a lot longer." This game costs $20 per session

Actual Play
Tales by Daggerlight is a Daggerheart actual play podcast about identity, legacy, and what rises from the ashes of a failing kingdom. We lean into character-driven drama, Hope vs Fear tension, and a soundscape built to feel like a cinematic home game. Our table is made up of seven long-time GMs and players who rotate between the spotlight and the storyteller’s chair. We keep the spontaneity and mess of a real home game, then layer in careful edits, music, and sound design to heighten key moments. If you enjoy political intrigue, found-family dynamics, and fantasy worlds where every choice has teeth, you’ll feel at home at the Blade’s Edge. Hi, there! Welcome to The RPG Gazette, I hope you made yourself cozy! We are Yuno & Șerban, the co-founders of this project. We came up with this idea after perhaps too many early sangrias on some Spanish beach close to two years ago, when we decided that we want to do more for promoting and nurturing the broader TTRPG community. Thus, we decided we will not write that much about D&D, instead focusing on showcasing other TTRPGs, through reviews, news and essays, some of them structured more like opinion pieces and some of them more academic in nature. Lore Warden is a battle chronicle tool for tabletop wargamers. After a game, players record the essentials: who fought, the forces involved, the score, which units were destroyed and the MVP.Lore Warden writes the engagement up as a piece of prose they can keep, share, and have read aloud. It is deliberately system-agnostic. Faction and unit names are free text and are echoed back exactly as they were typed, so it serves 40k, Age of Sigmar, Necromunda, Mordheim, historicals, BattleTech or a homebrewed ruleset equally. Army lists can be pasted in whole and unit names are picked out automatically, and added/edited manually. There are three ways to use it. A single battle produces one self-contained tale. A tournament tracks rounds, wins, draws, losses and total points, with Swiss pairings and a recap for each round. An eternal war is an ongoing group campaign, where forces evolve over months, eras are marked, retired armies are given a final entry and honours ledger, and the whole thing can be brought to a close with a finale when the group wants an ending. What separates it from pasting a game into a general chatbot is continuity. Lore Warden holds each commander's force and everything that has already happened to it, so a campaign reads as one narrative rather than a series of unconnected write-ups, and it does not invent units that were never on the table. Commanders who would rather write their own account can do that instead and still have it recited. Opponents do not need accounts. A battle can be shared by code or QR for the other player to attach their force, or entered on their behalf as a guest, and every finished tale gets a public page that anyone can read or listen to without signing up.  Written tales are free, thirty of them, for the lifetime of the account, along with one spoken recital. A subscription lifts the written cap and adds a monthly allowance of spoken recitals.
