Find a D&D (or any other tabletop) group to play with

Groupfinder is a looking-for-group/players platform for any and all tabletop games. Whether you play online or in-person.

1,051 active player and 568 game posts
What is an active post?
A post is active while its owner keeps it open. Bumping the post, editing it, or receiving messages keeps it active. After 60 days with no activity, or if the owner does not visit for 60 days, the post turns inactive and leaves this list. The owner can activate it again at any time.
Example game post: To Erebor and back again, a One Ring campaign in Shire, 8 of 9 players Example player profile: Strider, playing Pathfinder 2E online and in Bree

Is Groupfinder free?

Yes. Posting a game, publishing a player profile, browsing every listing and messaging other players all cost nothing, and no card is needed to sign up. Paid extras for game masters may arrive later, but finding a group and finding players will stay free.

Can I find an online D&D group?

Yes. Plenty of the games here run online, over voice chat or a virtual tabletop (a browser app that stands in for the map and the dice). Filter the games list by Online and by D&D 5E, then message the game master. If nothing fits, post your own player profile and let a game master find you.

Which systems can I search by?

D&D 5E, Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, Daggerheart and dozens more - and not only roleplaying games. Warhammer, Catan and other tabletop games sit in the same list. Tick the ones you want, then stack language, location and the days you are free, so you only see games you could actually join.

I enjoy a good mix of tactical combat, character-driven role play, and creative problem-solving.  I'm an actor and director in local community theatre, so I enjoy a lively, active table more focused on "roll and shout" than on grinding to a halt to piece out complex mechanics.  I enjoy game universes that react to the PCs' successes and failures, and that are flexible enough to accommodate a wide variety of goals.

The Round Table, Rotating GMs

Rather than being a set game, this is intended for a smattering of games where various GMs each take a turn to run a game of their choice. We play through it, and when they finish after a few sessions we rotate to the next person. It's intended that rather than this being any longform content, everyone will run something short form selected in a random order until everyone has had a chance then we refresh and do it again. A great place to try out various TTRPGs you'd normally not be able to, either to run them as a GM or see what's up as a player. This listing is only for GMs and those with experience running. As some of the other members are people I know are reliable and good to run, we'll prioritise anyone newly recruited for running after a 3 part game where we'll run through a full set of missions in Lancer. So i'll go first, then the 2-3 newly recruited will be randomly chosen, and then the two other people i've already recruited and know. After it's confirmed everyone's a good match and you'll stick around to GM your fair share, the order will be randomly chosen unless someone steps up to run. I'm looking for people who are comfortable with a wide range of settings and genres, and are comfortable with darker content and a grim sense of humor. You'll also need to be willing to read some rulebooks, depending on what people run we might have a lot of games to learn! Slots Available: 2-3 Session Duration: 3-4 hours Schedule: Every Monday at 9pm EDT Requirements: Discord and a decent mic are all required. You'll also need to have your own setup for where you run whatever system you opt to run. I'll be using Foundry VTT and we're likely to see usage of Roll20 and other Virtual Tabletops. https://forms.gle/HTLEAG3VLDVGxmtCA If interested, please fill out the form above and leave a message with your name when you have finished. Here or Discord works.

Hello. We are a group of D&D players and DMs that have been together for 8 years. We recently had some members move away, so we are looking for more players. We occasionally change DMs, so no forever DMs here. We tend to focus more on roleplay than combat. We are open to other TTRPG systems or tabletop games in general. We are currently running a hombrew campaign in 5e.

Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
Elaria: Breaking the Chains Elaria is a land of powerful kingdoms, ancient magic, and prosperity built upon slavery. Humans, orcs, beastkin, prisoners, and countless others are bought and sold while those in power grow wealthy from their suffering. Within the slaves social circle classes have been established, the house slaves see themselves as better then those who work the grounds and so on. The party begins as ordinary adventurers with no army, rebellion, or grand destiny. But as they travel across Elaria and witness the cruelty of its kingdoms, they will have opportunities to fight back. You will not start in a inn or town, it will be a suprise Freeing a few slaves can become rescuing a village. A rescued village can become allies. Allies can become soldiers and soldiers can become a rebellion. The players will build that rebellion themselves—recruiting allies, establishing bases, gathering resources, liberating territory, and deciding how far they are willing to go to end slavery. Eventually, Elaria's kings will learn their names. The only question is whether history will remember them as heroes, rebels, or something far more dangerous.

Steel Rift League

Combat focused
Fights, tactics and initiative take up most of the table time.
Play by post
The whole game runs as written posts in a chat or forum, so nobody has to be online at the same time.
Hello perspective player! I've set up a Living World discord server with a unique world. Its very Rules-lite, RP being custom and Steel Rift for combat. It is Play-By-Post, with me handling the map and rulings so that it can be time-zone and time-available agnostic! Players are free to schedule between themselves if they want to resolve a match over Tabletop Sim with me as Arbiter, but no one is reqiured to do that. (Also feel free to send pics of physical minis if you want to use/display them! The system is mini-agnostic for anyone interested in playing Steel Rift locally.) There is 1 change I have made so that its easier to manage as a PbP game (inches to Hex Tiles). You wont need to buy a copy of the rules, as I have them available on the server. Advanced Rules will be added over time, both to not overwhelm players but also so I can cherry pick what works with the League and missions that I will present players with (and to a lesser extent the flimsy lore I have for this game-world). Players will be a General Purpose Administrator/Logistics A.I., usually manufactured and purchased by Militaries and MegaCorps for admin work on large vessels and in company-cities. In this case though, the players have been purchased by an Underboss of a Redlight planet. They'll be placed in control of the crime faction's Blood Sport Assets in the burgeoning, new Mecha Coliseums popping up all around the seedy ecumenopolis. You'll put together HE-Vs and teams and enter them into Bouts, Tournaments, Leagues, etc. Obtain purses and prizes from wins, bet on other player's matches for side profit, and go Rogue to get out from under the crime boss's thumb! Eventually players will be able to accept contracts off world for MegaCorps and Sovereignties (ala BattleTech style) and will be able to flex more of the mission types and advanced rules over time. I'm running it via a purpose made Discord server and using Tabletop Sim purely so the maps and models will be a bit more exciting than a 2d, top-town grid. There is currently only 1 mechanical roll tied to Roleplay itself (subject to change depending on what players decide to get up to). You can always hit me with ideas and things you'd like to see that we can work together to make happen! If anyone is interested feel free to DM me and ask any questions you might have! A final note: The game is tagged as 18+, please respect that. And if any player has a concern about anything (including regarding me) please feel empowered to bring it to my attention so it can be resolved!

Peter
Middle-aged gamer, like a variety of ttrpgs. Quite experienced but enjoy introducing new folks to the hobby. Have been the GM many times, for now want to settle into being a player. Love an intriguing and exciting story with my roleplaying. Appreciate team work, not intraparty bickering/drama.

Update log - September 2026 "Support us"

As we step away from the summer months, we find ourselves more at our tables. Tables for playing and also working on features and fixes for Groupfinder. And there have been quite a few additions since our last Update log. We'll go over some of the bigger changes and additions. Supporters /images/general-media/1789388957_fqCygV2e.png Some of you may have noticed in the menu dropdown a little page called Subscribe. Worry not, this does not mean, that Groupfinder is going to be pay to use. No, far from it. We are sticking by what we have been saying since the start - Groupfinder will remain free to use. Becoming a subscriber is your way of supporting our ongoing work on the platform. To make sure the lights stay on, the servers buzzing and the licenses get paid, we have to make sure all those costs don't overwhelm us. What does it mean to be a subscriber? As a thank you, for your help and trust in us, your account will have some ease of life perks: Automatic bumping - you can set up automatic bumping for your posts, helping your post stay refreshed. Once you set it up, every 48 hours, the system will bump your post moving it back to the top of the listings. Customized notifications - want to only receive specific notifications and alerts for games and players in a specific region and game system? You can set your specific rules for custom alerts. Colour themes for your posts - Feel a little red? Green? blue? Customize your posts with the colour theme you prefer, make your post stand out with a little cosmetic tweak.  More cover pictures - Supporters will also find that they have access to a whole new set of cover images to choose from. If you are tired of the ones you have seen so far - you will find more from the selection we present the subscribers. Higher limits - If you have more than two games you are looking players for - you will be able to have up to six different active game posts at once. You will also be allowed to send more messages to new users every day. Attach files - perhaps your games have a world map you'd like to show off to make players more interested in it - you can add some files to your post and make it more informative. And various limit increases and customization options for Group Manager and for those who manage a library entry page. You can read more about the subscription here. And if you don't care about those perks - but you think we are doing a neat job - that can be your motivation as well. Messenger On desktop devices, you will find our messenger in the bottom right corner of the page, allowing you to chat with others in a more intuitive manner, just like you may be used to on various other platforms. We will continue to improve the messaging experience as we go forward, but we are very happy with the way it is now. Ofcourse you can continue using messenger, how it was before, as a full-page view. Tiles for Group Manager /images/general-media/1789389492_W7MfXXwR.png In addition to various improvements for the Group Manager, we are happy to announce tiles.  Tiles are small customizeable and editable dynamic elements, that you can add to your Group Manager dashboard to add various features to them.  Add images, spell, item, skill lookup searches, connect your notes to your Obsidian markdown files and keep them synced with what you have on your computer or just add a slideshow to set the mood for the game. Badges /images/general-media/1789389332_qdibSnHO.png Show off your activity and achievements on Groupfinder with the badges you have earned here. There are various ways to earn badges, some you get for reaching out to users on the platform, some you get for bumping. You may be considered a librarian, if you help us improve the library.  And with higher tier badges, you will also unlock unique perks (such as lower daily bumping cooldown, or additional unique cover images). Posts and listings We also took some time to optimize the filtering options on the posts pages. We added additional features to the search, and with that it slowly started getting out of hand. So it was time to take a step back and look at the whole listings filter as a whole and bring it all together, again. Many of these fixes and tweaks have been things you, the users, have asked for. Just like the option to also exclude tags from your search. Don't want to see games that have a "Horror" theme? Take it out and no spooky season for you. We admit that for some time the "Create a post" flow was.. messy. Again the same deal, as with filters - we added fields, elements, options and much more to it. But it resulted in the pages being overly cluttered and some fields may have been accidentally overlooked. Now the flows have been reworked and should make it a lot easier for you to create your player post or add your games to the listings. Also to all of our multilingual friends - you can now write your post description in multiple languages. I mean.. you could also before - but now it is more reasonably separated and structured. Those with a game post will also have access to more detailed analytics about your post. Knowing and understanding more about those, who open your post, can help you tweak and tailor your post in various ways. A more organized library /images/general-media/1789390627_QjshwGXo.png Don't you just hate it when your local library is a mess. Well ours was a bit messy - so we cleaned it up and made it make more sense. The new library home page now offers you a better overview of what is new, what is popular and which events are upcoming. Speaking of events - if you know of any upcoming tabletop events that might interest others - tell us about them and we'll try to get those added to the library as well. And much, much more In addition to all the topics we've covered here, there have been a vast amount of additional changes - not necessarily smaller and less important. We just have to keep these update logs at a reasonable length. If you have any feedback regarding these changes (or lack of an update you were hoping for) - do let us know. Either use the contact us form, or join our Discord server and let us know there. We are always happy to discuss and learn from you. Till next time.

Kids on Bikes
Haunted Holyoke is an actual play storytelling podcast created by teens from across Western Massachusetts through Valley Playwright Mentoring, an after-school program based at Holyoke Media. Each season follows a group of young people playing Kids on Bikes, a tabletop roleplaying game about ordinary kids confronting the strange, the supernatural, and the unseen forces shaping their town. Together, they build a shared story set in Holyoke, Massachusetts, where forgotten places hold memories, the past doesn’t stay buried, and every mystery comes with a cost. This project is part of Valley Playwright Mentoring, a program of Piti Theatre Company, and is made possible with support from MassHumanities, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, The Community Foundation of Western Mass, The Scarlet Socks Foundation, and other public and private funders. Blending improvisation, character-driven storytelling, and collaborative worldbuilding, Haunted Holyoke explores themes of memory, belonging, and what it means to face the unknown together.
