Find a D&D (or any other tabletop) group to play with

Groupfinder is a looking-for-group/players platform for any and all tabletop games. Whether you play online or in-person.

1,050 active player and 568 game posts
What is an active post?
A post is active while its owner keeps it open. Bumping the post, editing it, or receiving messages keeps it active. After 60 days with no activity, or if the owner does not visit for 60 days, the post turns inactive and leaves this list. The owner can activate it again at any time.
Example game post: To Erebor and back again, a One Ring campaign in Shire, 8 of 9 players Example player profile: Strider, playing Pathfinder 2E online and in Bree

Is Groupfinder free?

Yes. Posting a game, publishing a player profile, browsing every listing and messaging other players all cost nothing, and no card is needed to sign up. Paid extras for game masters may arrive later, but finding a group and finding players will stay free.

Can I find an online D&D group?

Yes. Plenty of the games here run online, over voice chat or a virtual tabletop (a browser app that stands in for the map and the dice). Filter the games list by Online and by D&D 5E, then message the game master. If nothing fits, post your own player profile and let a game master find you.

Which systems can I search by?

D&D 5E, Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, Daggerheart and dozens more - and not only roleplaying games. Warhammer, Catan and other tabletop games sit in the same list. Tick the ones you want, then stack language, location and the days you are free, so you only see games you could actually join.

Well met, stranger. I'm hiddenson. I've played different rpgs since the 90's, mostly as GM. I prefer GMing because I love world building and long-term campaigns. I revel in many layered plots that peel like a bag of onions, tuning preset worlds to my signature flavor of horror and hardcore mechanics. My style is deeply immersive, roleplay heavy, and Rule of Cool. I prefer acting in the first person with people who invest creativity in their characters. At the moment, I'd like to focus on horror games and Cyberpunk. I'd love to play other settings of the World of Darkness. I have extensive experience in Call of Cthulhu in the 1920's as well as in Cyberpunk 2020 so I'll adapt to new editions easily. Lastly, I have little to no experience in the other titles, but I'm eager to try them out. I lean into characters hungry for lore rather than riches. Think erudite professors risking their sanity in eldritch tomes, or tomb raiding archaeologists uncovering more than they bargained for. I recently launched a paid Vampire: The Masquerade Chronicle, so I'm willing to trade seats if our playstyles and game list match. Regarding scheduling, I'm available every day (but would prefer playing every other week) from 9pm to 2am GMT+2, so don't let the timezone be an obstacle to our meeting. Hit me up with your best message and let's tempt fate together!

Chrome Fires Burning: a Cities Without Number cam

Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
LGBTQ+ friendly
The table is openly welcoming to LGBTQ+ players.
Looking for players for a CWN campaign tentatively titled “Chrome Fires Burning.” Voice is on Discord, VTT will probably be roll20. Everyone is welcome, the only rule is don’t be a dick. Games will be Sunday nights at 9PM CST Elevator pitch is as follows: The year is 2072. In 2025 the development of a new drug, ephemerol, lead to unbelievable advances in cybernetics and technological implantation. Able to bridge the gap between the nervous system and machine circuitry, ephemerol was hailed as a miracle drug, ushering in a new age of transhumanism However, before this new technological golden age could be upon us, it was smothered in the cradle by corporate greed. A jealousy guarded secret, the corporations who developed it held the formula for the miracle drug hostage, demanding corporate sovereignty in exchange for granting access to the masses. A combination of public promises, lobbyists, and paid politicians ensured this deal went through The gift became a double edged sword as the drug was distributed, only working with the cybernetics supplied by those corporations granted sovereignty, allowing them to gobble up more and more influence, to the point that entire cities have become little more than corporate towns, beholden to the companies that own them Within these sovereign territories, anything that threatens the bottom line is meet with brutal consequences. The workers who decided to rise up, to unionize, were branded criminals and domestic terrorists, locked away if not executed in a back alley Public utilities have been sold off little by little, leaving those who refuse the hand of the corporations with rapidly dwindling resources. The once mighty governments of the world now forced to bend the knee to the oligarchs Gangs run rampant, acting with impunity as long as their dues are paid, or left to their own devices due to lack of resources to stop them Despite this turmoil, there is new opportunity. Companies now fight a desperate war for market share, managers willing to pay to sabotage one another for the next promotion. Money talks, and right now, it’s screaming Chicago is one such battleground. Built into a shining edifice as the headquarters of several massive corporations, it now resembles a patchwork of countries, as each corporation claims sovereign territory within the blocks of city property it lays claim to. A hub of trade even in this time, boardroom battles spill out on to the streets, bullet and blade picking up where ink and negotiation fail

The storyteller
A truly wonderful, handsome, virile and interesting man.  I am not a greasy nerd who absolutely does not smell like old Domino's.  I am clean and very organized. I do not inspire chaos in others and trap players in inescapable situations they put themselves in.  As a GM, my games are predictable and stories consistent. I do not use voices, props and wear silly hats. I am a serious, professional gamer and absolutely NOT a trainwreck.

Hi.  I run a game on Discord, Tuesday nights, 7 PM Eastern.  It’s a fantasy game…sometimes.  It’s sci-fi set in Shanghai…well, maybe next week.  It was a western a week ago, I think, or was that gothic horror? The game has you as a special agent, traveling to alternate histories for a massive, multi-reality travel agency.  Because all possibilities are possible, you can be whatever you want (within reason, about as powerful as an X-Man/Teen Titan and you must appear as human or at least as something that’s common in reality like a squirrel or something).  Our group has a Fae cowboy, and a dieselpunk femme fatale.  You come up with the concept and we’ll make it happen. The game uses GURPS – a very old, crunchy and confusing game engine.  However, you will not have to do anything, just tell me what you want & I do the numbers.  I (the GM) am so backwards that we do not use AI or software.  I use a paper map and puppets. A bit about the group.  We may have one person, maybe more, leaving and we need a replacement.  This is not set in stone & cannot guarantee this will happen.  The group is mostly younger (20’s-30’s) & mostly women.  Therefore, I would prefer anyone joining to be a woman or at the very least not be weird about it.  This will get you immediately banned.  Please be nice and professional. We’re looking for the following: Foremost is a good personality and a sense of humor (not “my friends think I’m funny"), like actually funny and personality means to have one.  You can be shy and awkward, but don’t bring the mood down.  Next is consistency.  We’d prefer someone that can show up.  We play once per week, and you will need to consider that if you feel it will be an issue.  Finally, we are Newb friendly and pro LGBT.  All we ask that you don’t be a jerk.   We do sometimes say naughty words and drink adult beverages.  Well, at least I do.  This is actually a very special thing we have going on so please take that in consideration.   It's not your average game.   I'd suggest listening in first & you can make up your mind from there.  I’d suggest filling out the questionnaire or you can reach out to me directly at @yeroldpalwill. Thanks.  I do hope to hear from someone.   Hope its you.

Borderlands of Cormyr - OD&D / Chainmail game

Combat focused
Fights, tactics and initiative take up most of the table time.
No paid games
On a player profile - you are looking for free games and are not interested in paid ones.
The Borderlands of Cormyr - an old game that we have been running for 5 years is starting back up again! A few of the players are more interested in domain play, so we have been doing a lot of skirmishes & wargaming using the chainmail rules. Most men survived the last few battles with a goblin horde of over 600 goblins - they have returned, and many are now taking their hand at becoming adventurers! The party will likely consist of lower level players, perhaps with one or two higher levels, so it is a good time to start. The town of Tilverton, north-east of the Cormyr area in the Forgotten Realms world, has been besieged by goblins as of late. The party has just heard rumors of a goblin kingdom in the nearby Thunder Peak mountains, which is likely the source of all these attacks. There is also the feared Harondalbar dragon that has been laying siege to the stonelands and Cormyr settlements to the west - the party has decided best to leave him be for now, but perhaps there is more to the story than just goblins... The idea for the game will be to use Chainmail for the overworld encounters (i.e. battles with over 200 or so men), and OD&D or perhaps OSE or B/X for the dungeon delving. Once your characters become heroes or heroes -1 (level 3 fighter) your character becomes quite powerful and harder to kill, but characters will feel pretty fragile at lower levels. Expect a lot of deaths, but hopefully that can be avoided with ingenuity and some luck.

Beepiz
Hi, and thank you for reading! I go by Beepiz on online spaces.  I've been GMing pf2e for a while now and want to get into actually playing it myself. I am looking for a Weekly or Bi-Weekly game, preferably on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays, in the evenings would also be prefered (5:00pm CST or later).  I am a very experienced roleplayer with almost seven years of TTRPG experience. I've played and ran DND 5e, LANCER, Call of Cthulhu 7e, and Cyberpunk:RED.  I like groups with a good balance of roleplay and combat, and games with a heavy emphasis on character development and interaction. I don't have a particular preference for themes or setting, I'll just be happy to actually be able to play instead of GM for once. I am very flexible when it comes to character build and am happy to fulfill most, if not all, party roles that may need filling.  So, all-in-all, if you're in need of a new player with many years of experience I'd be happy to join you! If my post interests you at all, feel free to contact me on Discord at beepizpeepiz.

Update log - September 2026 "Support us"

As we step away from the summer months, we find ourselves more at our tables. Tables for playing and also working on features and fixes for Groupfinder. And there have been quite a few additions since our last Update log. We'll go over some of the bigger changes and additions. Supporters /images/general-media/1789388957_fqCygV2e.png Some of you may have noticed in the menu dropdown a little page called Subscribe. Worry not, this does not mean, that Groupfinder is going to be pay to use. No, far from it. We are sticking by what we have been saying since the start - Groupfinder will remain free to use. Becoming a subscriber is your way of supporting our ongoing work on the platform. To make sure the lights stay on, the servers buzzing and the licenses get paid, we have to make sure all those costs don't overwhelm us. What does it mean to be a subscriber? As a thank you, for your help and trust in us, your account will have some ease of life perks: Automatic bumping - you can set up automatic bumping for your posts, helping your post stay refreshed. Once you set it up, every 48 hours, the system will bump your post moving it back to the top of the listings. Customized notifications - want to only receive specific notifications and alerts for games and players in a specific region and game system? You can set your specific rules for custom alerts. Colour themes for your posts - Feel a little red? Green? blue? Customize your posts with the colour theme you prefer, make your post stand out with a little cosmetic tweak.  More cover pictures - Supporters will also find that they have access to a whole new set of cover images to choose from. If you are tired of the ones you have seen so far - you will find more from the selection we present the subscribers. Higher limits - If you have more than two games you are looking players for - you will be able to have up to six different active game posts at once. You will also be allowed to send more messages to new users every day. Attach files - perhaps your games have a world map you'd like to show off to make players more interested in it - you can add some files to your post and make it more informative. And various limit increases and customization options for Group Manager and for those who manage a library entry page. You can read more about the subscription here. And if you don't care about those perks - but you think we are doing a neat job - that can be your motivation as well. Messenger On desktop devices, you will find our messenger in the bottom right corner of the page, allowing you to chat with others in a more intuitive manner, just like you may be used to on various other platforms. We will continue to improve the messaging experience as we go forward, but we are very happy with the way it is now. Ofcourse you can continue using messenger, how it was before, as a full-page view. Tiles for Group Manager /images/general-media/1789389492_W7MfXXwR.png In addition to various improvements for the Group Manager, we are happy to announce tiles.  Tiles are small customizeable and editable dynamic elements, that you can add to your Group Manager dashboard to add various features to them.  Add images, spell, item, skill lookup searches, connect your notes to your Obsidian markdown files and keep them synced with what you have on your computer or just add a slideshow to set the mood for the game. Badges /images/general-media/1789389332_qdibSnHO.png Show off your activity and achievements on Groupfinder with the badges you have earned here. There are various ways to earn badges, some you get for reaching out to users on the platform, some you get for bumping. You may be considered a librarian, if you help us improve the library.  And with higher tier badges, you will also unlock unique perks (such as lower daily bumping cooldown, or additional unique cover images). Posts and listings We also took some time to optimize the filtering options on the posts pages. We added additional features to the search, and with that it slowly started getting out of hand. So it was time to take a step back and look at the whole listings filter as a whole and bring it all together, again. Many of these fixes and tweaks have been things you, the users, have asked for. Just like the option to also exclude tags from your search. Don't want to see games that have a "Horror" theme? Take it out and no spooky season for you. We admit that for some time the "Create a post" flow was.. messy. Again the same deal, as with filters - we added fields, elements, options and much more to it. But it resulted in the pages being overly cluttered and some fields may have been accidentally overlooked. Now the flows have been reworked and should make it a lot easier for you to create your player post or add your games to the listings. Also to all of our multilingual friends - you can now write your post description in multiple languages. I mean.. you could also before - but now it is more reasonably separated and structured. Those with a game post will also have access to more detailed analytics about your post. Knowing and understanding more about those, who open your post, can help you tweak and tailor your post in various ways. A more organized library /images/general-media/1789390627_QjshwGXo.png Don't you just hate it when your local library is a mess. Well ours was a bit messy - so we cleaned it up and made it make more sense. The new library home page now offers you a better overview of what is new, what is popular and which events are upcoming. Speaking of events - if you know of any upcoming tabletop events that might interest others - tell us about them and we'll try to get those added to the library as well. And much, much more In addition to all the topics we've covered here, there have been a vast amount of additional changes - not necessarily smaller and less important. We just have to keep these update logs at a reasonable length. If you have any feedback regarding these changes (or lack of an update you were hoping for) - do let us know. Either use the contact us form, or join our Discord server and let us know there. We are always happy to discuss and learn from you. Till next time.
