Update log - July 2026 “Time to schedule”

Hope you are all having a nice summer. While we haven't been bombarding the site with massive updates these past few months, we have been working on things in the background. Just to keep you all somewhat updated and ensured, that we are still actively working on the platform - here is a brief update and check-in. Minor improvements Every now and then we have pushed new and small updates to the platform. Just today, we finally got around to implementing the time & day scheduling to the game posts. So if you have a game post running, be sure to edit it and add the days you are planning on running the game, and at what time the session would be starting. Players looking for games will be also able to filter the groups based on those parameters. Do keep in mind that since the feature is new, almost all of the games listed at the moment are still without a preferred day and time - so they will not be shown to you when you use the filter. But as time goes on and games update their listing, more and more will have those elements. Additionally a few updates were added to the game post creation process - nothing gamebreaking or -changing. Just some convenience factors. .gg We have officially shifted to a new primary web address (although you are free to keep using whichever domain ending you have before - nothing should be negatively affected. But Groupfinder can now be also accessed via groupfinder.gg Even though the platform is global - having the .eu ending seemed to cause more confusion than we had anticipated. But this is more of a cosmetic change - nothing in our core values or goals has changed as a part of this shift. Library evergrowing The library is rapidly growing - every week new entries are added. Some thanks to the help of a few volunteers, to whom we are extremely grateful. It is becoming a proper tabletop gaming resource now. But it will never be complete - we are seeing new tabletop projects and creators pop up all the time - and we would love to be a gateway between them and you. Group Manager This is the biggest element we have been working on since the start of the year (and even before). While not ready to go live - we are anticipating that the day is drawing ever closer by every week and testing cycle. Group manager will be a parallel mode to Groupfinder - a system to manage your.. well.. group. Keep track of timefinder polls to schedule the next session. Share files with your players - or make them private, so that only you can see them - or only some of the players. This will make it easier to keep track of various notes, lore and character backstories. Or just share gifs.. Also a viable approach. But until we have anything more substantial to report - I will be signing off for now. But will keep a watchful and helpful eye on the platform. And if you have a friend or a group that could benefit from using Groupfinder - be sure to tell them about the site - it will be a win-win situation. The more people know about Groupfinder, the faster your games get filled - and the faster you find a group to join. Till next time.

Amy
Hi I'm Amy and I am a professional game master from startplaying. Which means I am a PAID game master  My games are usually set in D&D 5e and incoperate some 5.5 rules.  I am a huge fan of horror mixed with other genre's and encourage players new and old to join me. I also have a very open table to players of the LGBTQ+ community as I am also apart of it. I love being a dungeon master as I get to be creative and watch players interact with the world I set up  If you enjoy heavy role-playing, mixed homwbrew content and some combat mixed in with a game master who enjoys making your choices matter you may like me as a DM  I have a link to my profile with my reviews and you can check out my games  Profile link to startplaying

Hi! You can call me Bread. I'm 24 years old, and I have almost 2 years of 5.5e experience. I think of myself as a versatile player. I'm comfortable playing a variety of different character types and roles, and I'm well-versed in the 5.5 PHB. I'm new to Groupfinder, and I'm looking to play some new kinds of games!

As I'm DM in right now custom world without hombrew rules under DnD 5e 2014-2020 rules. Looking to meet new people, put down DM hat and play some games. Dont really want to play DnD2024(DnD5.5e), open to try other TTRPG  systems, especially pathfinders, mabye older DnD editions. Dont's: horror settings. As I work a full time job, I am looking to play in the evenings (EET/CET); about one day per week (biweekly works too but not preferrable). Feel free to DM me here if you have more questions :) I would be glad to join your adventuring party.

grounded: the helix organizations mistakes

Homebrew Homebrew
Newbie friendly Newbie friendly
The Helix Initiative was introduced to the public as a revolutionary leap in environmental adaptation, biological medicine, and survival science. Officially, the organization claimed it was developing new ways for humanity to survive ecological collapse, disease, and resource shortages. Behind closed doors, however, Helix operated hidden research divisions dedicated to experimentation far beyond legal or ethical limits. Somewhere deep within those divisions, a scientist identified in surviving records only as Dr. W██d████ T████ developed a machine capable of shrinking living organisms to less than an inch tall. The technology was presented internally as a breakthrough in resource efficiency and medical research—but many of the subjects brought into testing were children between the ages of eight and sixteen. Most never returned. You are one of the survivors. After undergoing the procedure, you awaken inside an ordinary city park that has become an impossible wilderness at your scale. Blades of grass tower like trees. Puddles become lakes capable of drowning entire groups. Ants patrol the dirt like armored soldiers, while spiders transform sections of the park into web-choked death zones. Every inch of terrain matters. Every storm is catastrophic. Survival depends on learning how to weaponize the environment itself—crafting tools and defenses from thorns, sap, insect shells, broken plastic, roots, and scavenged debris left behind by previous miniature civilizations that clearly did not survive for long. As you explore deeper into the park, you begin discovering abandoned outposts, collapsed shelters, and fragmented Helix logs detailing increasingly unstable experiments. The records reference attempts to create “evolutions chosen suvivors” capable of evolving beyond normal biological limits. Again and again, one phrase appears alongside heavily censored personnel files: MARROW SYNDROME. The disease slowly destroys the body in stages—first decaying bone tissue, then muscle structure, and finally flooding the lungs with blood. Somewhere among the corrupted files are hints that Dr. W██d████ T████ never joined Helix out of loyalty. Some logs imply he infiltrated the organization to expose its corruption, free the surviving test subjects, and continue researching a cure for a terminally ill child connected to the syndrome. Whether those rumors are true remains uncertain. Helix officially denies the existence of both the disease and the scientist. Not every strange thing in the park comes from Helix laboratories. Survivors occasionally encounter a bizarre figure known only as Rock—a hyper-muscular talking bee obsessed with shouting “MUSCLE” at every possible opportunity. Most groups dismiss him as insane until they realize he understands far more about the park than he should. One moment he acts like a reckless coach forcing terrified children to become stronger, and the next he casually references erased facilities, failed experiments, or “previous attempts” that nobody else remembers. Near the edges of abandoned Helix sectors, Rock sometimes becomes unusually quiet, staring into empty space before muttering warnings that sound less like jokes and more like genuine fear. HE IS WATCHING YOUR EVERY MOVE...

TableStage

Virtual tabletop (VTT)
English
Free
TableStage is purpose-built map display software for in-person tabletop games. It runs on a Raspberry Pi 4 as a flashable image and turns any TV or screen into a controllable map display, operated entirely from a phone or tablet browser. Setup takes a few minutes: flash the image to an SD card, plug the Pi into the screen, scan the QR code that appears, and the display is live. There is no open laptop at the table, no PC, no cloud, no accounts, and nothing for players to install. A Windows version is coming to Steam soon. TableStage is deliberately not a full VTT. It has no tokens, no character sheets, no dynamic lighting, and no rules automation, and it does not try to move the game onto a screen. Physical minis stay on the table. The software exists to do one job well: put maps on the table with as little friction as possible, and add atmosphere with pinned music and ambience. /images/general-media/1785795372_YVhCgnVG.png The GM controls everything from their phone, including switching maps, drawing fog of war live as the party explores, adjusting the grid, and managing audio. Maps are organised into collections, so a GM can group everything for a campaign or a session and switch between them quickly during play, with audio pinned per map. Collections can be exported and imported, which makes it straightforward to back up a library, move it to another device, or share a prepared set with someone else. The display itself shows only the map, with no menus, cursors, or interface clutter visible to players. Everything runs locally over the group's own Wi-Fi, and after initial setup the system never touches the internet, making it suitable for venues without reliable connectivity. /images/general-media/1785795379_FowVrjRg.png Key features Static and animated maps up to 4K60 Fog of war drawn on the phone, revealed live on the screen as the party explores Grid overlay calibrated to your screen (size, shape, colour, opacity) Maps organised into collections Audio pinned per map for autoplay on map selection or playable from the playlist Collections can be exported and imported for backup, transfer, or sharing Music and ambience over Bluetooth, AirPlay, HDMI, or the Pi's audio jack Idle screens, colour grading, and animated overlays such as clouds and fog Controller runs in any browser, optimised for mobile device operation Fully offline after setup /images/general-media/1785795387_L29WqWlz.png Suitable for Groups playing in person who want maps displayed on a TV or table screen without a computer at the table, who prefer to keep their physical minis, and who want a setup that works without configuration or accounts. Draw Steel (2025)

English
Complex
Rules-medium
Draw Steel is a tactical heroic fantasy tabletop roleplaying game designed by Matt Colville and the team at MCDM Productions. It is built to provide a modern, cinematic alternative to traditional d20 fantasy games. It focuses on high action, tactical depth, and ensuring that every player character feels like a legendary hero from the very first level. The system it is a spiritual successor to is Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition Description In Draw Steel, players take on the roles of Heroes. Unlike other systems, the characters are heroes from the start. The characters are already capable of taking on the world and whatever threats may arise. The system encourages a highly tactical approach to combat encounters, promoting teamwork and clever use of abilities to control and affect any battlefield they might find themselves at. System Overview & Key Features The 2d10 Core Mechanic The game abandons the d20 focus and instead offers two ten-sided dice (2d10) instead. This creates a better mathematical average and becomes more predictable and reliable. No To Hit Rolls Draw Steel eliminates the traditional roll to hit. Instead, heroes automatically hit their targets with their primary abilities, but they roll to determine how much Power or impact the effect has. This keeps the game focused on making meaningful tactical choices rather than wasting turns on a miss. Heroic Resources Each class manages a unique resource, such as Focus or Valor, which builds up during a fight. These resources are spent to activate powerful Signature Moves and Heroic Abilities, ensuring that combat has a rising sense of drama and escalation as the heroes grow more powerful the longer a battle lasts. Tactical Movement and Forced Position Combat is designed for a grid. Many abilities do more than just deal damage; they allow players to slide, push, or pull enemies and allies across the battlefield. Positioning is vital, and the environment is intended to be a weapon that heroes can use to their advantage. Tiered Success Action resolution often uses three tiers of success. A low roll might provide a success with a cost, a middle roll is a standard success, and a high roll is a spectacular success that might trigger bonus effects or additional damage. This ensures that every roll contributes something to the ongoing narrative. Links mcdmproductions.com - Official MCDM Productions website mcdm.gg - MCDM community and developer portal
