Update log - July 2026 “Time to schedule”

Hope you are all having a nice summer. While we haven't been bombarding the site with massive updates these past few months, we have been working on things in the background. Just to keep you all somewhat updated and ensured, that we are still actively working on the platform - here is a brief update and check-in. Minor improvements Every now and then we have pushed new and small updates to the platform. Just today, we finally got around to implementing the time & day scheduling to the game posts. So if you have a game post running, be sure to edit it and add the days you are planning on running the game, and at what time the session would be starting. Players looking for games will be also able to filter the groups based on those parameters. Do keep in mind that since the feature is new, almost all of the games listed at the moment are still without a preferred day and time - so they will not be shown to you when you use the filter. But as time goes on and games update their listing, more and more will have those elements. Additionally a few updates were added to the game post creation process - nothing gamebreaking or -changing. Just some convenience factors. .gg We have officially shifted to a new primary web address (although you are free to keep using whichever domain ending you have before - nothing should be negatively affected. But Groupfinder can now be also accessed via groupfinder.gg Even though the platform is global - having the .eu ending seemed to cause more confusion than we had anticipated. But this is more of a cosmetic change - nothing in our core values or goals has changed as a part of this shift. Library evergrowing The library is rapidly growing - every week new entries are added. Some thanks to the help of a few volunteers, to whom we are extremely grateful. It is becoming a proper tabletop gaming resource now. But it will never be complete - we are seeing new tabletop projects and creators pop up all the time - and we would love to be a gateway between them and you. Group Manager This is the biggest element we have been working on since the start of the year (and even before). While not ready to go live - we are anticipating that the day is drawing ever closer by every week and testing cycle. Group manager will be a parallel mode to Groupfinder - a system to manage your.. well.. group. Keep track of timefinder polls to schedule the next session. Share files with your players - or make them private, so that only you can see them - or only some of the players. This will make it easier to keep track of various notes, lore and character backstories. Or just share gifs.. Also a viable approach. But until we have anything more substantial to report - I will be signing off for now. But will keep a watchful and helpful eye on the platform. And if you have a friend or a group that could benefit from using Groupfinder - be sure to tell them about the site - it will be a win-win situation. The more people know about Groupfinder, the faster your games get filled - and the faster you find a group to join. Till next time.

I'm a first-time GM so please bear with me, I am familiar with 3.5 as a player though and would prefer to run the game in this as opposed to 5e. If the group agrees in session 0, I am willing to change to 5e. (I am just as familiar with 5e if not a little less than 3.5) Looking to run a homebrewed setting on an island surrounded by a magical storm conjured by a dragon "king." Will meet on discord for VC/Text chatting during the game, held on roll20 as the VTT. My discord user is: beanureeves (Display name: Beanu Reeves) can elaborate more on the discord and in session 0 (just be sure to message me for the link)

$25 per session  https://startplaying.games/adventure/cmqzml1vr0065l304hx4nh6xy Welcome to the Sword Coast a region renowned for adventure, where daring souls delve into ancient ruins in search of knowledge and loot. Where wonderous creatures roam free. Amid a wilderness of jagged, snow capped mountains and alpine forests, lawlessness and monsters, the cost holds the greatest bastions civilization, including the coastal city of Neverwinter where our party is first assembled You have known Gundren Rockseeker for a long time and and when you receive a letter asking for your help you drop everything to help your old friend. It's not long before goblin ambushes, ruthless bandits and a whisper of a long forgotten mine pull you into a mystery far larger than you expected. This isn't a story that will wait for you. While you decide what to do next, there are other pieces on the board moving to progress their own agenda and your actions can help shape that. The people you help will remember, the people you hurt will seek justice. Ignore a problem today, and you may discover it's consequences later on. This is a game designed to welcome new players to DnD and experienced players will enjoy a world that responds to their choices rather than following a fixed script. We begin by playing through the Lost Mine of Phandelver Module before venturing into The Shattered Obelisk Module.

🎓 Who Are You? You are a student at the **Nocturne Conservatory**, a hidden college for young witches beneath the town of Duskfall. Most students are between **18 and 22 years old**, balancing two very different lives. By day, you attend classes, work part-time jobs, hang out with friends, and try to survive college. By night, you study advanced magic, dangerous rituals, and centuries-old traditions. Whether you were born into the magical community or discovered it later, you're still trying to figure out who you want to become. --- # 🏫 Your Two Worlds ## ☀️ Life Above Ground Outside the Conservatory, Duskfall functions like any other small coastal college town. You might spend your days: - Attending university lectures - Working a part-time job - Meeting friends at cafés - Going to concerts - Pulling all-nighters before exams - Exploring the town - Joining clubs or organizations Most people believe Duskfall is completely ordinary. They're wrong. --- ## 🌙 The Nocturne Conservatory Hidden beneath abandoned salt mines lies one of the oldest magical colleges in existence. Here you'll study subjects like: - Ritual Magic - Arcane Theory - Demonology - Magical History - Wards & Protection - Potion Brewing - Cursecraft - Spirit Studies -Evocation -Divination Your professors expect excellence. Failure can have consequences beyond a failing grade. --- # 🎭 What Is This Campaign About? This is a character-driven supernatural mystery focused on: 🔮 Magic 🕵️ Investigations 🎓 College Life 🤝 Friendships & Rivalries 📖 Hidden History 🩸 Difficult Choices While combat certainly happens, your greatest tools are curiosity, teamwork, and creative problem solving. --- # 🧙 Creating Your Character Think about the person behind the magic. ### What are you studying? Examples include: - Magical Law - Ritual Studies - Alchemy - Spirit Research - Enchantments - Magical Medicine - Ancient Languages --- What's your life like outside class? Do you... - Work at a bookstore? - Play in a local band? - Run the campus radio station? - Captain an intramural team? - Volunteer in town? - Spend every night buried in the library? --- How do you feel about magic? Maybe it's... - Your calling. - Your family tradition. - Just another subject to pass. - A burden. - An obsession. - Something you're still learning to trust. --- Why did you come to the Conservatory? Everyone has their own reason. Maybe you wanted: - Knowledge. - Freedom. - Answers. - Prestige. - Adventure. - A fresh start. --- 💬 Roleplaying Tips Your character is an adult, but adulthood doesn't mean having everything figured out. Lean into uncertainty. Make mistakes. Build friendships. Question authority. Support your classmates. Sometimes the biggest victories happen outside of combat. --- 📖 What Your Character Knows Every student knows: ✅ Magic exists. ✅ The Nocturne Conservatory is one of the oldest magical colleges in the world. ✅ Duskfall has a hidden magical community. ✅ Magical traditions are deeply important. ✅ Strange things occasionally happen around town. Your character does **not** automatically know: ❌ Every magical secret. ❌ Every hidden faction. ❌ The truth behind Duskfall's history. ❌ Why certain traditions exist. Those answers will be discovered throughout the campaign. --- 🌒 Welcome to Duskfall Study hard. Trust carefully. Question everything. Because in Duskfall... **Some secrets have been waiting centuries for someone to uncover them.** Like to application: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf784PDqgFyQQcG_tInei2V3mVF9q-hKDGLUMwY23YeFNjbSA/viewform?usp=header

Howdy hi!! Shut-in world builder wizard here, just looking for cool people to bring to me and friends' online table for a bespoke variation of 3.5e D&D that focuses less on min-maxing/power-scaling and more on curiosity of the player, experimentation and a whole new toy box of fresh mechanics to dive into! Some of those mechanics share DNA with 5-5.5e concepts and might be familiar to players coming in from the most recent editions, and others have been forged from the mad scientist lab sessions of me and mine over several campaigns! We've got weird new races--psychic plant people, immortal deer fey, juggernaught dwarf-orc hybrids, sentient amnesiac undead, need I go on?! We've got intriguing reworks on old classics-- broad new specialization AND generalization options for casters, exciting new martial feats for bruisers of all types, and much needed re-balances for the discrepancies between Druid and Ranger! We've got an in-house, homemade character sheet template made in Microsoft Excel that tracks your bonuses, debuffs, gear weight, weapon rolls and all your stats in real time! We've got an entirely homebrewed, simple to understand, elemental damage counter system with a table of effects that completely turns the nature of how players and enemies utilize different damage types on its head! All this, and a chill, low-stress, inclusive table of nerds too! Sound good? Then give the profile a poke, and come see if your new favorite homebrewed TTRPG system will be ours! =)

World Anvil

Worldbuilding
Free
World Anvil is the largest and most feature-rich world-building and campaign management platform. Launched in 2017, it has evolved into a massive "All-in-One" suite that combines a wiki-style lore presentation, interactive mapping tools, and software for novel writing. While it is known for a steeper learning curve than rivals like Obsidian, it is unmatched in its ability to present a "public-facing" version of your world. In late 2025 and early 2026, the platform underwent a major "Athena" UI overhaul, introducing the Articles & World Manager and Quick-Inline Creation, which significantly streamlined the speed of entering new lore. Description It is built to organize, display, and even sell your world. The platform provides hyper-specialized templates (e.g., Traditions, Military Units, Flora/Fauna) that prompt you to fill in details you might otherwise overlook. In March 2026, World Anvil introduced a significant Dashboard Upgrade, allowing users to drag, drop, and hide widgets to create a personalized "writing cockpit." While the sheer number of buttons can be intimidating for beginners, its ability to manage secrets, interactive maps, and professional-grade manuscripts in one place is currently unrivaled. System Overview & Key Features The Athena 2.0 Dashboard (March 2026 Update) The newly released dashboard customization allows you to tailor your entry point. You can now pin "Recently Edited" articles, word count goals, or community prompts as modular widgets. This update effectively turned the homepage into a personalized HUD for your creative workflow, cutting down the "where do I click?" frustration of previous versions. Advanced Article Management A new "Article Management" tab was added in early 2026, allowing for the creation and editing of articles on the fly without leaving your current category view. This "focus mode" is a godsend for large-scale projects where you need to spin up ten minor NPCs or locations at once without losing your place in the world-tree. Interactive "Deep-Link" Mapping World Anvil’s map system remains its "killer app." You can place pins that link to other articles, and as of 2026, it supports multi-layering for vertical dungeons and "Region-Hiding." This allows you to show players the town square while keeping the "Thieves' Guild Basement" layer hidden behind a private subscriber permission. System-Specific Statblocks Beyond just text, World Anvil hosts thousands of community-made statblocks. Recent 2026 additions include a dedicated Cult Worksheet for Call of Cthulhu 7e and adversary blocks for the Cosmere RPG, allowing GMs to integrate mechanical data directly into their narrative articles. Manuscripts and Novel Writing The "Manuscripts" module is a full-featured writing suite that sits alongside your wiki. It allows you to drag world-building "secrets" directly into your writing notes. As of March 2026, co-owners of a world now have shared access to manuscripts, making it a viable tool for professional co-authors and writing teams. The Worldbuilding "Social Media" Unique to World Anvil is its social ecosystem. The "Global Feed" allows you to follow other creators, participate in monthly "Worldbuilding Showdowns," and compete for the annual Worldbuilding Awards. It’s less of a tool and more of a global "Writing Room" for the hobby. Daggerheart (2025)

TTRPG
Beginner-friendly
High-Fantasy
Daggerheart is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game published by Darrington Press, an imprint of Critical Role Productions. The game was released in 2025. Description Daggerheart is a story-docused role-playing game system, where the rules direct players to think narratively and not just mechanically. The game uses a system called Duality Dice, where players roll two twelve-sided dice. One for Hope and one for Fear. In addition to determining whether the character achieves success or fails at the action they are trying to perform, it also generates a helpful Hope resource for the player, or a challenging Fear resource for the game master (GM). Lead designer Spenser Starke explained that there is "also no initiative in Daggerheart". It functions very much like a Forged in the Dark or a Powered By The Apocalypse game, where the GM is making moves on certain dice rolls and we're passing play back and forth as a conversation. It all flows together in a way that supports the storytelling-first direction that Critical Role has really embraced over the last decade". The game features 279 supplemental cards to track player abilities and characteristics. Darrington Press also launched several digital resources, including an online custom card creator. Lodestar

Virtual tabletop (VTT)
English
Free
A local-first battlemap display tool for game masters. Cast a map with fog of war to a second "player" screen while you control everything from a private GM panel. Lodestar runs entirely in the browser with no build step and no dependencies. It runs entirely in your browser. No install, no account, nothing to download if you don't want to. You open it, load a map, click "Open player display," and drag that window over to your second screen. You control everything from your own DM panel, and your players only see what you choose to reveal. /images/general-media/1780915788_spLeMCfy.pngLodestar is completely free and open source, so you can use it, fork it, or tear it apart however you like. Maps — load high-resolution map images from local disk; pan and zoom freely. Player display — open a second window, drag it to another screen, and cast the map to your players. The player window can go fullscreen. Fog of war - Trace polygon areas and click them in reveal mode to show/hide on the player display. - Name polygon areas with a GM-only label. - Paint or erase fog with a round or square brush of adjustable size. - GM sees fog as an adjustable tint/opacity; players see solid black. Multi-floor — build multi-level locations; each floor has its own map, fog, tokens, and stairs. Navigate with the on-screen floor widget. Stairs — place GM-only staircase markers that link floors; they scale with the grid and zoom and are invisible to players. Tokens — drop, drag, label, color, and size them in grid cells; they snap to the grid and appear on both displays. Grid — toggle and adjust size, offset, color, opacity, and token snapping. Ping — Alt+click draws an animated marker on both displays. Measure — reports distance in grid cells and feet. Splash / blackout — show a splash image or a plain black screen on the player display instead of the map. Library — save full setups (image, grid, fog, tokens, floors, views) to a local IndexedDB library; export/import the whole library as JSON for backups or moving machines. When you save a map, it's stored locally in your own browser, not on a server somewhere. Nothing gets uploaded, so your maps stay on your machine. The catch is that the saved library is tied to the browser and device you saved it on, so it won't follow you to another computer or survive clearing your browser data. If you make maps you want to keep, use the Export button to save your whole library to a file. That file is your real backup, and you can import it on any device.
