Find a D&D (or any other tabletop) group to play with

Groupfinder is a looking-for-group/players platform for any and all tabletop games. Whether you play online or in-person.

1,050 active player and 565 game posts
What is an active post?
A post is active while its owner keeps it open. Bumping the post, editing it, or receiving messages keeps it active. After 60 days with no activity, or if the owner does not visit for 60 days, the post turns inactive and leaves this list. The owner can activate it again at any time.
Example game post: To Erebor and back again, a One Ring campaign in Shire, 8 of 9 players Example player profile: Strider, playing Pathfinder 2E online and in Bree

Is Groupfinder free?

Yes. Posting a game, publishing a player profile, browsing every listing and messaging other players all cost nothing, and no card is needed to sign up. Paid extras for game masters may arrive later, but finding a group and finding players will stay free.

Can I find an online D&D group?

Yes. Plenty of the games here run online, over voice chat or a virtual tabletop (a browser app that stands in for the map and the dice). Filter the games list by Online and by D&D 5E, then message the game master. If nothing fits, post your own player profile and let a game master find you.

Which systems can I search by?

D&D 5E, Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, Daggerheart and dozens more - and not only roleplaying games. Warhammer, Catan and other tabletop games sit in the same list. Tick the ones you want, then stack language, location and the days you are free, so you only see games you could actually join.

OhNoMarlowe
Hi, I'm Marlowe! I've got the itch to play a ttrpg again, and I'd be up to playing something in any of the games I listed. I've played in a fair few D&D 5E games in the past; though it's been a while. I think I'd like to play something with a focus on roleplaying. Tone wise, I think I'd prefer something that errs toward lighthearted rather than grimdark. I'm also fine playing with beginners. I can only really play on Tuesdays or Wedsnesdays due to my job. Might be easier to contact me through Discord: ohnomarlowe  Thank you for reading :D

Traveller: Imperium

Homebrew
House rules, a custom setting, or a system the Game Master wrote themselves.
Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
You are outlaws, operating at the fringes of the once great Kardashev Imperium. Whether driven by ambition, discontent or simple necessity, you seek to find your own fortunes. As radicals and revolutionaries seek to topple the Tzar's reign, and her secret police crack down in an attempt to stem the surge of discontent opportunities are opening for people such as yourself. Perhaps you wish to shape these changing times, to recover lost honours or reshape the future order; or perhaps you simply wish to make it to tomorrow better than today. Either way, times of change present opportunities for the bold.  So, prelude aside, this campaign is an criminal focused Traveller game, set in my original setting, the Kardashev Imperium (Think something inspired by 1890s-1910s Imperial Russia). You as PC's will be doing a range of jobs in the legal fringes of this setting, primarily a mixture of smuggling and heists, with hauling cargo/passengers on the side. Once you make it out of the first adventure you will have your own ship also. The campaign will be a sandbox-ish game, but with a long term focus on building a narrative based on the jobs you take and events that play out in doing said jobs.  Looking at running through Voice on Discord, and Fantasy Grounds as VTT.  As a GM, I generally go for a game where Narrative is supported by mechanics. I'm willing to wing it where it makes more sense, but value mechanical systems to create a certain predictability/consistency to the world. Equally however, I think a primary skill of any good GM is knowing when to rely on mechanics, and when they aren't necessary.  I like to encourage players to have a good sense of their characters, but also to leave space to discover more about who their characters are through play. I don't always make the odds against you fair, but will try to adjudicate impartially. If you come up with something creative, I generally try not to get precious about disruptions to my plans. (Frankly, there are few things as fun on my end as when the PC's come up with something completely unexpected, or approach a task in a way I never thought of). If the odds aren't fair, I don't expect you to play fair either.  Looking to run 4:30PM Saturdays my time (UTC+13). Weekly. Equivalent to 8:30PM Fridays PDT. Usually 2-3 hour sessions.

W&G: The Last Gift of The Crimson Prince

Newbie friendly
New players are welcome, and nobody expects you to know the rules beforehand.
Roleplay focused
Conversation, character and story take up most of the table time.
The Greensteel Corsairs are the most daring and notorious pirates of the Gilead system. Despite being composed mostly of Aeldari, the Emerald Princess has begun to bring others into the fold. The corsairs do not always trust these outsiders and they are often given the most dangerous of missions to prove their worth. Our heroes are no different, gathered together because of their unique skill they have been tasked with a mission. To infiltrate the lair of the Haemonculi Caraxus and steal a powerful relic; The Heart of Mathlann. Having been sent under the guise of prisoners sold to the Haemonculi they must find the relic and escape.Their efforts will reveal a drama unfolding in the wider galaxy and a map to a legendary treasure. A relic from a fearsome Aeldari corsair that could change not only their lives but the lives of the countless souls that call Gilead home. Together they will roam the wine dark sea and test their mettle against the worst the sector has to offer, for at the end of their journey the last gift of The Crimson Prince awaits. OOC Information While set in the Grimdark setting of the 41st Millenium this game will have a much lighter tone with a greater emphasis on high adventure and daring escapades rather than the usual doom and gloom that pervades the setting. While predominately an aeldari based story players will be able to pick from a variety of non-aeldari races. No experience with either Wrath & Glory is required. This is a beginner friendly and LGBTQ+ friendly game. Hatefulness, bigotry and anti social behavior will not be tolerated. Game time starts at 8pm est runs on a weekly basis every Thursday. We are currently 2 sessions in and require 1-2 additional players. If you are interested please fill out the application and I will reach out to you.

Update log - September 2026 "Support us"

As we step away from the summer months, we find ourselves more at our tables. Tables for playing and also working on features and fixes for Groupfinder. And there have been quite a few additions since our last Update log. We'll go over some of the bigger changes and additions. Supporters /images/general-media/1789388957_fqCygV2e.png Some of you may have noticed in the menu dropdown a little page called Subscribe. Worry not, this does not mean, that Groupfinder is going to be pay to use. No, far from it. We are sticking by what we have been saying since the start - Groupfinder will remain free to use. Becoming a subscriber is your way of supporting our ongoing work on the platform. To make sure the lights stay on, the servers buzzing and the licenses get paid, we have to make sure all those costs don't overwhelm us. What does it mean to be a subscriber? As a thank you, for your help and trust in us, your account will have some ease of life perks: Automatic bumping - you can set up automatic bumping for your posts, helping your post stay refreshed. Once you set it up, every 48 hours, the system will bump your post moving it back to the top of the listings. Customized notifications - want to only receive specific notifications and alerts for games and players in a specific region and game system? You can set your specific rules for custom alerts. Colour themes for your posts - Feel a little red? Green? blue? Customize your posts with the colour theme you prefer, make your post stand out with a little cosmetic tweak.  More cover pictures - Supporters will also find that they have access to a whole new set of cover images to choose from. If you are tired of the ones you have seen so far - you will find more from the selection we present the subscribers. Higher limits - If you have more than two games you are looking players for - you will be able to have up to six different active game posts at once. You will also be allowed to send more messages to new users every day. Attach files - perhaps your games have a world map you'd like to show off to make players more interested in it - you can add some files to your post and make it more informative. And various limit increases and customization options for Group Manager and for those who manage a library entry page. You can read more about the subscription here. And if you don't care about those perks - but you think we are doing a neat job - that can be your motivation as well. Messenger On desktop devices, you will find our messenger in the bottom right corner of the page, allowing you to chat with others in a more intuitive manner, just like you may be used to on various other platforms. We will continue to improve the messaging experience as we go forward, but we are very happy with the way it is now. Ofcourse you can continue using messenger, how it was before, as a full-page view. Tiles for Group Manager /images/general-media/1789389492_W7MfXXwR.png In addition to various improvements for the Group Manager, we are happy to announce tiles.  Tiles are small customizeable and editable dynamic elements, that you can add to your Group Manager dashboard to add various features to them.  Add images, spell, item, skill lookup searches, connect your notes to your Obsidian markdown files and keep them synced with what you have on your computer or just add a slideshow to set the mood for the game. Badges /images/general-media/1789389332_qdibSnHO.png Show off your activity and achievements on Groupfinder with the badges you have earned here. There are various ways to earn badges, some you get for reaching out to users on the platform, some you get for bumping. You may be considered a librarian, if you help us improve the library.  And with higher tier badges, you will also unlock unique perks (such as lower daily bumping cooldown, or additional unique cover images). Posts and listings We also took some time to optimize the filtering options on the posts pages. We added additional features to the search, and with that it slowly started getting out of hand. So it was time to take a step back and look at the whole listings filter as a whole and bring it all together, again. Many of these fixes and tweaks have been things you, the users, have asked for. Just like the option to also exclude tags from your search. Don't want to see games that have a "Horror" theme? Take it out and no spooky season for you. We admit that for some time the "Create a post" flow was.. messy. Again the same deal, as with filters - we added fields, elements, options and much more to it. But it resulted in the pages being overly cluttered and some fields may have been accidentally overlooked. Now the flows have been reworked and should make it a lot easier for you to create your player post or add your games to the listings. Also to all of our multilingual friends - you can now write your post description in multiple languages. I mean.. you could also before - but now it is more reasonably separated and structured. Those with a game post will also have access to more detailed analytics about your post. Knowing and understanding more about those, who open your post, can help you tweak and tailor your post in various ways. A more organized library /images/general-media/1789390627_QjshwGXo.png Don't you just hate it when your local library is a mess. Well ours was a bit messy - so we cleaned it up and made it make more sense. The new library home page now offers you a better overview of what is new, what is popular and which events are upcoming. Speaking of events - if you know of any upcoming tabletop events that might interest others - tell us about them and we'll try to get those added to the library as well. And much, much more In addition to all the topics we've covered here, there have been a vast amount of additional changes - not necessarily smaller and less important. We just have to keep these update logs at a reasonable length. If you have any feedback regarding these changes (or lack of an update you were hoping for) - do let us know. Either use the contact us form, or join our Discord server and let us know there. We are always happy to discuss and learn from you. Till next time.

Virtual tabletop (VTT)
English
Free
A local-first battlemap display tool for game masters. Cast a map with fog of war to a second "player" screen while you control everything from a private GM panel. Lodestar runs entirely in the browser with no build step and no dependencies. It runs entirely in your browser. No install, no account, nothing to download if you don't want to. You open it, load a map, click "Open player display," and drag that window over to your second screen. You control everything from your own DM panel, and your players only see what you choose to reveal. /images/general-media/1780915788_spLeMCfy.pngLodestar is completely free and open source, so you can use it, fork it, or tear it apart however you like. Maps — load high-resolution map images from local disk; pan and zoom freely. Player display — open a second window, drag it to another screen, and cast the map to your players. The player window can go fullscreen. Fog of war - Trace polygon areas and click them in reveal mode to show/hide on the player display. - Name polygon areas with a GM-only label. - Paint or erase fog with a round or square brush of adjustable size. - GM sees fog as an adjustable tint/opacity; players see solid black. Multi-floor — build multi-level locations; each floor has its own map, fog, tokens, and stairs. Navigate with the on-screen floor widget. Stairs — place GM-only staircase markers that link floors; they scale with the grid and zoom and are invisible to players. Tokens — drop, drag, label, color, and size them in grid cells; they snap to the grid and appear on both displays. Grid — toggle and adjust size, offset, color, opacity, and token snapping. Ping — Alt+click draws an animated marker on both displays. Measure — reports distance in grid cells and feet. Splash / blackout — show a splash image or a plain black screen on the player display instead of the map. Library — save full setups (image, grid, fog, tokens, floors, views) to a local IndexedDB library; export/import the whole library as JSON for backups or moving machines. When you save a map, it's stored locally in your own browser, not on a server somewhere. Nothing gets uploaded, so your maps stay on your machine. The catch is that the saved library is tied to the browser and device you saved it on, so it won't follow you to another computer or survive clearing your browser data. If you make maps you want to keep, use the Export button to save your whole library to a file. That file is your real backup, and you can import it on any device. Thrive to Survive
Tabletop Roleplaying Games

Thrive to Survive

English
Apocalyptic
Thrive to Survive is a tabletop RPG ruleset for a modern day zombie apocalypse. Launched on Kickstarter in 2025, with decades in development this system gives rules both to make one of a kind custom survivors as unique as the player. And intense apocalypse campaigns and encounters for the game master. Combat The combat system for Thrive to Survive is based on the chaos of combat and how enemies react to each other while fighting rather than simple attacks and health pools. As characters get stronger they are able to use more combat maneuvers that manipulate how strikes land in combat and what they do to their enemy, after all in the end you have to destroy the head! While at some points you may want to build a wall to keep out the dead, other times you may need to break one down to escape a situation. Thrive to Survive gives rules for handling buildings, obstacles and construction so that every player can interact with the world how they see fit. Part of what makes a zombie apocalypse game so enticing is the realism of how a person would deal with an apocalypse. Keeping a fine balance of simple rules and realism allows for an easygoing and exciting adventure. Attributes There are an infinite number of ways someone can survive the zombie apocalypse. While the most common thoughts about surviving are how can you kill the most undead as possible, you have to think of thriving as well. From farming for your own food, Creating tools and equipment to help others, Medical knowledge to keep people alive, and even computer skills to access old data or create something new! To capture this the character creation gives you access to skills across the board, abilities your survivor possesses, and other features to make your survivor unique. Each survivor builds from the ground up by picking skills, talents, attributes, disabilities, features, and equipment. These sections are all connected in creating the gameplay of each survivor. Skills While there are a plethora of skills, most of them can be broken into a couple groups, Combat skills that determine your attacks such as the blade skill. Action skills that let you attempt something beyond the mundane such as acrobatics, and Crafting. Crafting allows you to design, build, repair and upgrade any item in Thrive to Survive. The more complex an item is the more time, material and skill is needed to create it. If you want to stick some nails through a baseball bat to cause some extra mayhem, you’ll need some training in weapons crafting. But if you want to hand craft a new design for a 50 caliber machine gun, you’re going to need some specialized skill and a lot of time. Crafting skills also build on each other, meaning that like in the string map shown here you have to have some skill in the previous crafting level in order to get the next. For example to become skilled in crafting explosives you will need a few levels of engineering first.
